If you can use it to clean car battery terminals it must be some harsh stuff. Unfortunately a good fountain coke on a hot day is very good 😂😂

You can't use it to clean car battery terminals. Unless you use sandpaper after the coke. Coca cola is just a very weak acid, that's about it. Could do the same with orange juice.

Soda is terrible on a commercial scale for Cast Iron. When they tore down an old McDonald's to rebuild it, the CI had the entire imvert of their 6" eaten away. It was absolutely amazing to see. I'm thinking that building was there for about 20 yrs before their rebuild. But that's years of soda down the drain and I'm sure other products like drain cleaners as well.

I've got about a 100 pounds of black copper fittings, totally oxidized, I've been looking for a way to clean them up,looks like coke is it,thanks for the segment

My old man's been drinking Coke since he was a kid and continued to do so after requiring an up-to-date HaMat endorsement to haul an ingredient for it to GA.

how about distilled white vinegar ? also maybe those lids should be open instead of closed to provide air that maybe needed for some reaction

I have a Taco Casa we service and after about 8 years we had to replace all copper drains due to the coke machines degrading the pipe.

Can't pretend to be surprised that coke cleaned up some of those materials. Just wish I would remember what it does to metal when reaching for a can of it to avoid it taking it's turn on my insides.

My gues is that the Cu and Chrome platted brass will have some damage.

I wonder if the iron pipes have a protective wax coating that caused all the gunk to show up…

Oh thought you meant a different kind of coke.
There was recently a paper released about how much cocain gets found in the sewer water in certain cities.
Really interesting how you can measure how many certain drugs get used in cities.

I wonder if there would be different results if you changed it out for fresh coke every week. If there’s a possibility that as the reaction takes place it neutralizes the acid.

Coorstek makes ceramic parts for Coke's fountain machines because it will eat thru plastics and metals.

@@RogerWakefield You gotta make a potato cannon out of PVC. Those are too much fun.
My dad and I toyed around with different designs for years. A 6" combustion chamber with a 1" junction at 45° capped with a ball joint is a superior way to load the hairspray propellant. A piezoelectric grill ignitor is easier than a flint lantern sparker.
