- This version of "Under Pressure" was recorded live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at the Montreal Forum on November 24 1981, ten years to the date before Freddie Mercury died. Brian May and Roger Taylor said that this was the first time ever they performed the song live.

The pure adoration in the girl's eyes in the beginning is beautiful
That girl is all of us.
That look makes me really miss the 80's --- when rock gods actually existed and pretty girls worshipped them !!
@@billbelzek6748 well I still worship him, have for damn near 30 years, and always Wil!
That girl in 0:03 looking at Freddie Mercury is so beautiful. Funny she's probably a grandma now but she's absolutely gorgeous.
yes is sooo BEAUTIFUL
Every woman is beautiful... They just need the right eyes looking inside of them !
@@jfoster1515 good comment
One of a kind
Yea someone out there has a grandma who saw Queen live front row preform "Under Presser" for the very first time.
1:31 The smile of Roger Taylor is just like a fan happy for Freddie Mercury while performing!
I think he laughed at Freddie's entry into this section. Freddie's voice was too thick. They liked to make fun of each other.
@@openyoureyeslookuptotheski8481I think Roger started to sing when he wasn't supposed to that's why he smiled
He's like Ringo
ᅳĞĞ: Only MUCH better looking. Sorry Ringo.
He's feeling that shit. Freddie probably just gave him the chills.
Damn, respect to Roger Taylor
Give credit to Roger Taylor, great backing vocals.
agreed
+retro racing
1:20 Sure, here is his excellent performance.
So many feels in that one. . ")
Totally. Every one of them were really talented..!
yeah! i always found him great in his way
+retro racing Roger was more than a drummer in queen. he is a great singer himself. always added that bit more on live shows
Drummer Roger Taylor does an outstanding job on backing vocals!
Joseph Di Lorenzo awsome job
Roger always sounds great. Perfect harmony between the two.
he basically does the Bowie here :D
droosy1 1 I thought he became freddy in duet parts, while freddy sang the lower notes
In every single song
I am jealous of anyone who saw this show, to see one of the greatest rock bands of all time in their prime...I wish I had been there...as do many more. God bless you Freddie and Queen.
i feel the same
Amen to that! I was only 7 when the Live Aid concert was on & I still to this day remember watching Queens performance in awe. I come from a family of musicians (mainly drummers) & literally grew up listening to Queen, Bowie, Phil Collins, Dire Straits etc
The first live concert I went to was Dire Straits when I was 11 but when I watch Queens live performances... Damn!! I can only but dream lol
Saw them in 1980 and 1982, The Game and Hot Space tours. Freddie was the ultimate showman for certain. But I will say this; I've seen them with Adam Lambert 3x and it is an amazing show. The sound quality in these arenas, with the current equipment, is so much better now, so the actual music is amazing. If you have not seen them with Adam, it's worth checking out.
I love Roger here. He’s singing his heart out and still beating the hell out of his drums! The man is a true wonder. ❤️
Roger is under Pressure........lol
He always did it in live performance. By the way, when freddie's voice wasn't so good, Roger was the one who held the beer.
Not easy, sing and drum at the same time.
Did you know it was originally his idea? He is credited for the song’s original creation from the songs demo ‘Feel Like’ which was originally about seeing someone move on @Anij 822 @Ron @Fleyáriston Salazar. You should check it out, it’s really cool !!
@@samanthadean7472 thank for the info. Will definitely check it out
I love watching John during live performances. He's just strolling randomly up and down the stage while playing brilliantly. :)
zuzanka1981 I read a post someone once wrote that it looks as though he’s strolling through Home Depot trying to decide which paint to buy...
They all are doing allright and seemed to really feel the song, except Brian.
John deacon é o cara.
I really wish to find someone who look to me in the same way the girl of 0:03 look to freedie
+Sir kyle one day you will find her :)! good luck
the way she looks is very sweet.
+Ladyqueen1983 One of the sweetest and nicest comments I have ever read. May you too find your special someone, if you haven't already.
+Tom Livanos thank you so much
+Ladyqueen1983 It was (and is) a beautiful reply your wrote to Sir kyle (not someone I know). I now listened to this performance for a second time and, amazingly, I was touched even more the second time than I was the first.
1:31 that smile on the back, light my world.
The bass of John Deacon rules...
Everyone in the band is amazing. End of story. I've listened to many of his bass tracks to songs to get a better idea of how good he was and I love them all.
Fun fact: My cat LOVES Queen, every time I put their sound on, he comes to my lap to listen to them. At first I thought he loved the piano but as this song has no piano and he still ran and sat on me to listen to them - and watched the whole video - I guess he is in love with Freddie's voice. I have a cat with good taste lol and as Freddie loved cats, I am sure he would love to see that. Miss you Freddie
Isabela your cat has the freddie's soul (and sorry about the bad english, i'm not american )😅😋
what if freddies cat was reincarnated into yours
I need that cat
All cats love Freddie 💕
One of my cats has been sitting with me while I watch the music videos. He's a black and white cat which seems funny to me because I think the first video I saw of Queen was "We Are The Champions," in which Freddie wears a black and white leotard. My cat faces the screen like I do when I'm watching and I can't help but think that he likes Freddie.
Definitely the best male vocal artist of all time
ABDULWAHAB SULAIMAN not just male. He is the best vocal artist of all time
Paul McCartney could sing all the same notes he did in the studio live where as Freddie very often harmonizes the original, clarion money notes for a lower and easier one to save his voice. Too much partying and living it up, not enough rest for his awesome instrument. I agree Freddie is one of the best but Paul is just as good technically, for example Oh! Darling to Band on the Run, to Hey Jude, to fuckin Magical Mystery Tour YOUR MOTHER SHOULD KNOW. Guy could do it all, and never dodges the high notes... take your pick only my opinion
@@Smooth0vibrations so could dio
No doubt paul mccartney can sing and is just good as technically but freddie's vibrato is typical no other match it is so powerful
Roger Taylor was on fire backing Freddie up. Hitting those high notes while banging the drums 😍
It amazes me Every. Single. Time!! I get goosies everytime I listen to them play this song well, pretty much any of their songs! To me, this was the most talented group ever to make music. Freddie was brilliant, eccentric, talented and was not scared to go after his vision! He pushed his dreams to fruition!! It's so sad he had to leave us so soon, as there is no doubt he would have continued to bless us all with more of his talents. As long as we have this music and all other music, Freddie will live forever!
Indeed...
I literally just cried listening to this masterpiece. Real music ❤️ Queen forever ☺️
Queen's BRILLIANCE will Always Live on Forever!!🤘💕

The quality of this video is just fucking amazing really, to find old videos of this quality is like finding gold really. Thanks for sharing!!
If the title said 2016 many people would probably believe due to the extremly high quality
You are quite right. Old videos with audio like this, are not very common. The venue it was played at helps a lot though. The forum in Montreal had/has great acoustics. It's a shopping center now, as it is too small to host bands or the Montreal Canadiens (The greatest hockey team ever) as the city grew. They removed around 3/4 of the seating, built stores and restaurants but you can still hear people peeing in the bathrooms.
HelloMsAnny
I bet they were like " It's a Freddie Mercury Live concert, i'm going to get the best camera ever invented until this time "
Well...this concert, bith night were shot on 35 mm FILM thats why we get this quality. Just like Friends was also shot on 35mm so today you can watch it in HD. Watch the 1976 concert film by Mertin Scorcese called the Last Waltz it (quality and sound) will blow your mind.
@jernejj5 it doesnt matter on their look u stupid
No auto tune, no back up track, now Swarovski Crystal encrusted ear plugs, so they can hear themselves... Just performers!
Freddie is unbelievable in this performance. But i am also amazed at how three musicians can put up such a tight and powerful live track. This shows how great Brian May actually is. Managing so much harmony, moving between clean and distortion with so ease, providing such a beautiful track to Freddie to sing over. And not to mention, the use of guitar harmonics, complementing each other so beautifully, not doing anything extra, its crazy i get goosebumps really.
Rituraj Borah Beautifully written comment, thank you.
Absolutely, he’s brilliant, and in so many ways.
Let's be real here. Every single person in this band is fucking next level shit.
When Bowie did this song on his own, something was missing. He had great bandmates, but not on the level of the Queen band. Here Roger drums like a king while filling perfect backing vocals on the par with Bowie
Couldn't agree more. I've never enjoyed Bowie performing this by himself.
Hard to get tired of queen music. Don't listen to it for a few days then you hear it and you're like hell yea.
I have under pressure as my alarm for about 2 months now. They said that if you hate a song, make it your alarm. But oh man, everyday it feels like waking up with 500% of energy then you gotta shout CAN WE GIVE OURSELVES ONE MORE CHAAAAAAAANCE
Fantastic vocals from Roger Taylor 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
+Sweeping Sweeper very much
Roger Taylor outstanding here. Terrific player and singer. Top drawer. Filling in for Bowie and playing drums!! Fabulous song. Freddie such a loss - at his peak really.
Still much queen fans in 2019 ? 😢
Andri & Ressa I’m crying 😭, why not he is still alive for this generation ? I wanted to listen him live ! 😢
why not.. u can ask this question any time in future... and answer will be...Yes.... i wish i had a chance to see him performing live
i am and i will be forever
11/7/19
Always have been a Queen fan and ALWAYS WILL BE A TRUE 1OO% QUEEN FAN!!! ❤🤘🎶
All the kids now listening to panic at the disco, Billie eilish will come around in ten years. I didn't like them at all when I was listening to blink 182, nirvana, and sublime. It comes with age I believe.
it's a masterpiece!
yea!
0:04 the girl was really touched by the music, amazing S2
Oseias Alves Yes she was, there was a recent interview with her, you can check it if you want www.queenonline.com/en/features/the-girl-in-the-audience-fan-feature-by-patrick-lemieux/
That was "Love of my Life" they played before, if you check it out on CZcams you can see the same in the end of it
K Browne hahahaha I've just read it, she says she was thinking of the "love of her life", some bloke who used the same songs to woo her. BULLSHIT. She was clearly pinning to get laid by Freddie, just like any other groupie wannabe desperate for attention and hoping he sees her and decides to invite her back later.
This comment wasn't needed
Why the fuck are you telling me to shut up?
This is reason why I love this kind of music. These are the days when singers didn't need any autotune because they were really talented and they sounded same alive ❤ FREDDIE IS LEGEND
Auto tune was launched in ‘97.
It's quite amazing how queen's live performances are actually better than their original records
#longlivethequeen
I must say I´m shocked. I´ve known Queen all my life now, but I didn´t have a clue how amazingly good they were live. Freddy and Roger sound here as terrific live as Freddy and Bowie did on the record...almost unbelievable. W-O-W.
U sure you’ve known them all that time cos u can’t spell Freddie
Freddie not freddy
0:04 she's definitely in love with Freddie... Oh i know how it feels but i wish i was there to see him live
In a documentary I saw once they said Freddie actually demanded some good-looking people in the first row of their concerts
Rumors and tabloid junkies are everywhere. Don't believe anything you read and especially for legends!
I will definitely be like her.. if I see Freddie alive
Good tunes are always timeless and everlasting. RIP Freddie. ✝️
As much as I love Bowie... Freddie makes this work on his own no problem!
Cody Brockway Not on his own: Roger’s incredible voice is crucial to this song.
All these people watching Queen in live... God damn it, the envy inside me is strong right now.
Sadly we'll only ever get to see Freddie through a screen..
0:04 that's called true love right there
This is the best band in the world in history!! They all make a perfect combination they are phenomenal together. They 💯💯💯 brought out the best in eachother. Freddie is the best singer to come to this earth but his band mates are just so phenomenal that they would not be Queen without eachother ❤
Having watched dozens of live Queen performances on youtube; Freddie's interactions with Roger Taylor during the shows are the most interesting. They seem to be really connected while performing.
NewFound Appreciation for Queen and Freddie Mercury after hearing this. Can't believe it took me 32 years to see the greatest band EVER
Casey Poole same here
can't stop listening.
Some say the lady at the beginning with the camera was so mesmerised that she's still stood there today
DAMN this man had charisma! That was HIS stage and he let everyone know it! :D
A magnificent version of 'Under Pressure' ...says it was the first time ever_performed live. 'Queen' at the Montreal Forum in November,1981. Wonderful set.
👏👏👏❤
J'adore donc je partage
Merci ulric rainard
My Dear friend Ulric Rainard. I am so humbled that something that was nothing more then a fluke, and I know I know everyone says that but seriously I had no intention of this growing to the extent that it has.. God bless you. Danny
This is not the first performance of the song. This song is from the second night. If your interested in hearing the actual first performance there is a audiance recording out there.
Can't we give ourselves one more chance?
Why can't we give love that one more chance?
'Cause love's such an old-fashioned word
Under Pressure!!!
Freddie is really great both with vocals n performance.. I don't even have a word to describe his greatness
The vocals from Roger Taylor though......Damn!
all of them can sing
@@RenemurioIII not like Roger. ..
@@chellyroris9015 Freddies better than roger
@@queenremix1353 Roger had a very high range too. And i don't like to compare them they sound so different
@@alenciaga21 Vocally Freddie's better, not deniein Rogers talent but he's more of a drummer than a vacalist.
Interesting, the glance at Brian May. Must have given Mercury a great feeling, having one of rock's greatest guitarist backing him up.
Kudos to the person who was able to get this video in HD.
I watched all the versions before watching Freddie's... There's something about this man that connects with me... A true legend!! 1:40 got me in splits... Classic Freddie
Ahhh that bass tone
I have been listening to this song every day this year. Best song of all time!
That's just one of the best live performances I've heard. Amazing
Pressure, pushing down on me,
Pressing down on you, no man ask for.
Under pressure that burns a building down,
Splits a family in two, puts people on streets.
It's the terror of knowing what this world is about.
Watching some good friends screaming, "let me out".
Tomorrow gets me higher.
Pressure on people, people on streets.
Chippin' around, kick my brains around the floor.
These are the days, it never rains but it pours.
People on streets.
People on streets.
It's the terror of knowing what this world is about.
Watching some good friends screaming, "let me out".
Tomorrow takes me higher, higher, high!
Pressure on people, people on streets.
Turned away from it all like a blind man.
Sat on a fence, but it don't work.
Keep comin' up with love, but it's so…
This bassist shaped my musical muscle and I thank him for it 🥰🙏🏾💜💜 and spare a thought for that intense drumming 🙏🏾🙏🏾
John Deacon is a legend
one of the best bassist, John Deacon rules!
Amazing talent. Today's "artists" don't hold a candle to Freddie - such intense music, real lyrics, and such showmanship.
Today: autotune, no one writes their own lyrics and they have no depth, and most bands rely on props to have a show.
Nobody will match that voice, with showmanship to ever top Freddie. It's perfection.
The most beautiful Man in the world!
Damn. Freddie you were so so great! Miss you man!
I NEED A TIME MACHINE TO BE ABLE TO WATCH THIS LIVE :(
FREDDIE WAS SINGER,SONGWRITER,RECORD PRODUCER,KNOWN AS THE LEAD VOCALIST AND SONGWRITER OF ROCK BAND QUEEN!!!HE WAS A MAN AHEAD OF HIS TIME!!!
He was one of a kind, but he didn’t write all their songs. Deacon wrote “You’re My Best Friend” and “Another One Bites the Dust.” May wrote “We Will Rock You,” “I Want It All” and “Fat Bottom Girls,” among others. And Taylor wrote “Radio Ga Ga” ... they also all were record producers and were college graduates. Brian May even has a PhD in astrophysics.
“Cause love's such an old fashioned word
And love dares you to care for
The people on the edge of the night
And love (people on streets) dares you to change our way of
Caring about ourselves
This is our last dance
This is our last dance”
Very strong words
Not every day we get a band where every member is a f***in' GENIUS.
the top 5 best male vocals by far, he can sing what ever he wants...
My fav Queen song. I wish we lived in a world without AIDS, so Freddie could still be with us.
This is the best 3 minutes and 56 seconds of my life.....❤
Music evolution!!!!Mr. Mercury is a Music Scientist!!!!
Love this version! Freddie Mercury was a master showman♡
I really wish Freddy was still alive.

the quality of this video is amazing
+StylinRed This concert was recorded in like 4k or higher, even the DVD version looks great
I don't think they recorded in 4k back then haha lol :D But the quality is great indeed
Mr. X They used a very high quality film that is the equivalent of 4K or more in modern tech, they did a donwscale for the DVD and Bluray
This 3:56 clip has more talent in it than the last ten years of music!
No, ur just looking in the wrong places. There's a lot of good music. My Chemical Romance is full of great songs. Panic! at the Disco is also really good. Fall Out Boy. Twenty One Pilots. Green Day. The list of modern groups with good music goes on.

Pretty sure you can find a recording of that show on CZcams mate, worth a look, should bring back some great memories!
"Queen have always been a great band in my opinion, unlike most other bands in the 80's, they were always well ahead of their time." ~ C/O Neville Bardoli
Funny thing when we were teens living concerts with Queen, we had no idea they were legends. It was just fun and great music.
2:52 WwHHhYYY can't we give love, give love... (epic voice crack ❤)
AWESOME. Freddie OWNS this song --- love the 'Bowie' influence, but David CANNOT sing it like Freddie!
I absolutely love Freddie, but I think it goes both ways
I think that the best version is the one that have both of them, I mean, I'm the Bowie version Gail Ann Dorsey does it pretty well but she is not Freddie and in this version is missed the David Bowie voice, the original was the perfect balance ♥️♥️
He dresses to the left and beautifully so!
The last thing I want to be is crude so if anyone reads this, don't read it with that sentiment; rather, one of gratitude for such fabulous manliness of men and, most particularly, Freddie.
con mucho gusto
Freddie was the greatest ever.
The best version for me!!
I would give anything to witness this live
the best band ever to exist in the face of this earth
When you're still awake at 12 midnight and all you want is listen to Queen songs. 💖 Timeless and priceless.

Wow.I'd love to see this whole concert.
This is the best live version!
I've had that show in every video incarnation, along with all the other official release shows, and this is the best!

Absolutely legendary...
Man, the energy these guys generated was just magnificent!! You can just tell at 3:10 on the last build up that Roger, with his eyes closed is just feeling himself, experiencing history whilst doing so. Great moments in music.
For a deceased person, Freddie here is so much alive! Freddie is immortal. Queen rocks!!
National Pride that Queen played this magnificent and epic concert in Canada, captured for posterity!
