- Sometimes I have to mentally step away from games, and that's the topic of today's episode, 10 games that I haven't beaten. There are SO many that I've stepped away from, and hopefully, in the future, I'll be able to reattach these and see them through!

OG Warcraft was fun, the best way to combat the AI is to play a level, see what they do right off the bat and prepare for that at the start of the next attempt. the AI doesnt really deviate from a strategy made in a certain level.
Yeah I'm feeling that I'll have to do that should I ever tackle it again.
I finished Brood War only through sheer will and crushing social anxiety. The Mechwarrior title is another one that I enjoyed but did not finish...at least it was a Mad Cat mech. Well done as always.
Thanks Ooda!
I couldn't even beat Zombies Ate My Neighbors with save states. Game is nuts.
Oh jeez, I'm in for a treat lmao.
Never heard of The Ooze until now. Looks amazing! Great video my friend.
absolute gem of a game, i've gotten farther and farther with every attempt i made to beat it. havent got there yet, but i'm easily halfway through.
Thank you!
It took me forever to beat the last Zerg mission in Brood War, but the rest of the game is not that difficult. Terrans have one difficult mission as well but it can be beat with the right tactics.
It kicked my ASS lmao
I find it really hard to play the original Warcraft, mostly because Warcraft 2 is a gazillion times better. Any time I start it I get annoyed by the interface, since it is similar enough to the sequel that I expect it to work the same, but it doesn't.
You are right about the SNES port of Wing Commander. You just can control a ship well enough with a d-pad.
Are you old enough to remember when PC Gaming magazine came with CD's full of demo's? Back around '97 one of them had a special issue with a bunch of older complete games. One of them was the DOS version of Wing Commander.
Absolutely agree on the interface being much improved on Warcraft 2, I like playing OG Warcraft for nostalgia but the sequel is so much better
Barely. Like my dad subscribed for a little nit.
Anno’s music is so chill. I want to try it out just for the soundtrack.
Dude right?
One game on SNES I so wanted to beat but couldn't was Soulblazer. I got all the way to the final boss, and he DESTROYED me!!! No matter how many times I tried that Damn Clawed thing Ripped me to shreds!!! I finally just gave up and moved on.
Gotta have faith :)
having several consoles worth of game libraries on my Hard Drive, i know what it's like having a backlog of games that i want to beat. that being said, i like the games on this list, very nice variety.
Thank you!!!
You should have 50k subs by now...such a great channel
I appreciate the kind words. Who knows where we will be this time next year. All I known is that you were here right now, and that's what matters.
Zombies is a tough ass game, best of luck
another great vid, Watching the RTS games always reminds me of my 2 favorites. Empire Earth and Rise of Nations. If you like building and conquer style games, they are amazing. Especially Rise of Nations. You can play as a few different nations and have to conquer the world. Still play it all the time.
Always wondered when you yell if you do it when the fam isnt home. Otherwise i can see em going wtf is he yelling again for? lol
Hahah yeah, I don't yell if the kids are home. I do most of my scripting after the stream at night, and I do most of my recording during the day, with the school year starting it's easier.
I love brood war, played the hell outta that on my pc growing up.
I very much enjoy playing through the campaigns for the story, give it a play through every couples of years or so
I don't remember why I disliked it other than that it was a GNARLY difficulty boost.
Before I started having seizures, I finished every game I played. To date, I've finished over 4,000 games, while I have played close to 10,000. I own over 14,000 games, 360+ consoles and 45 complete console libraries. I LOVE games and I've been a gamer since I was 3 in 1978, to a collector in 97'.
That is EPIC! I lost count of how many I've finished, I'm likely around the 600 count. I own 69 consoles myself. I look forward to your insight on other games I play in the future.
Another hot top 10 from you. How about this top 10 list idea. Top 10 games I'll never ever ever ever try to beat no matter what!
That's already in the works, some games are considered untouchable for me, and I need a tad bit more under my belt for that to make it happen.
Yeah in DosBox, increase and decreasing cycles is kinda like overclocking and underclocking
Steroids for DOS lmao
@@Fortefyre Also there's DosBox Pure, meant to be easy to use.
I haven't tried it on Windows, but it work pretty good for me on Batocera (it's a Linux made for emulation and being able to use a controller for most things)
Oh yes Eternal Champions. I honestly can't remember if I beat it but I had the Sega CD Version so at least the Music and Sound was good.
I spent lots of time playing the OG Warcraft and I think I cheated to finish the Story. I liked Warcraft 2 and it's Expansion Dark Portal much better then the first Game.
if perhaps you'd like another good series of RTS to play The Command and Conquer Series is awesome particularly Red Alert 2 and it's expansion Yuri's Revenge. The game offers a good amount of Variety in that each Country has special Units that can change the game quite a lot.
also the Cutscenes have this amazing level of Cheesiness to them that makes them very Memorable.
also Command and Conquer Generals was great too.
Oh and if you haven't played the single player for Starcraft 2 Wings of Liberty play that too.
what makes it cool is in the Single Player you can research Upgrades which feel Impactful. like the Terran have a Tank that can go into Siege Mode which takes away it's ability to move around but makes it an Artillery Cannon.
OH and then there's Rise of Nations it's a more Realistic take on warfare and it had an expansion pack called Rise of Legends that was more fantastical
Rise of Nations is really good. it was made by Microsoft Studios and they just made some amazing games back then including Age of Empires 2 and it's Expansion called the Conquerors.
I swear I played more then RTS Games but these games really left an impression on me.
its hard to believe the Genre has almost Disappeared now.
I'm actually dealing with Final Liberation EPIC Warhammer 40K right now and it's actually REALLY solid.
i have never beaten your top 10 list either. i do bust out Super Mario Bros 2 for my buddies who don't have NES anymore & tell them it's the 1st one & then watch them react like, this is so much harder than i remember, what the hell? Then they realize they are not playing the 1st one. Fun Stuff! The Ooze & Abadox R fun games to re-play, but i never will beat them. As far as Revenge Games go i have one called, The Silver Surfer-NES. That game gets me so mad, but in a fun way that makes me want to play it over & over again.
I'm glad to know we all have our own revenge list hahaha
I recently beat Legendary Wings for NES, very satisfying after all these years.
That's epic!
I beat Zombies ate my neighbors using a mega everdrive pro and I’m not ashamed to admit it. I feel like save states are necessary for that one due to how the password system is broken
I couldn't even beat it with save states, haha. One of the only ones. Crazy game.
Yeah, but I feel even in a save state situation it would still be abhorrent difficult lmao.
For me, games I haven’t beaten but still want to usually fall into one of two categories.
One: games where I made it all the way to the end but could never beat the final boss or level and ended up eventually quitting in frustration. Zelda II, Dragon Warrior II, and Rolling Thunder (in the arcade) are my prime examples of this.
Two: Games that I was enjoying but that require tons of hours to complete. What would happen with these games is that I got deep into them before life abruptly got in the way, and by the time I came back to it weeks or months later I’d forgotten where I was in the story and what quests I was supposed to be working on. But after already putting 30, 50, 70 hours into it I didn’t want to start all the way over from the beginning either, so I just kind of ended up stuck in limbo. Games where I fell into that trap over the years include Persona 3, Bully, and Disgaea. I’ve been telling myself for years that I’m going to go back and finish all of those someday.
Anyway, good luck on your second attempts at these! Several years ago I downloaded a Commodore 64 emulator just for Legacy of the Ancients, a really cool RPG my brother owned that always kicked my ass as a kid, and it was super-satisfying to finally take that down and cross it off my list.
Thanks for sharing your breakdown lol. For me it mostly consists of games that either A.) Don't work right (it tends to happen with alot of dos era games) or B.) I made it 50% through and hate the idea of just scrubbing it completely.
Ooooooo if i understand this right wing commander is a revenge title! I got just the card for that 😉
That is correct! There is also an open revenge slot :)
One game I really want to beat someday is The Haunting Starring Polterguy for Sega Genesis. I don't know how difficult it gets, I just haven't actually spent to much time on it. It is really unique and I love the idea of it. Maybe one of these days I'll finish it.
OHHHH I need to play that too! That's the one that you scare that family out of homes!
Great video. I have to get back to SMB 2 on the famicom disk system. Still have it saved on the emulator. The hardest thing about the famicom disk version is that when you continue it starts you back at the first stage of whichever world youre on. That can be pretty brutal since in the later worlds each level can be quite hard and easy to mess up. The all star version let you continue at the beginning of whichever stage you got to. I am using the continue option and am currently on World 6 of the famicom disk version. Im not sure whether I verified if the continue option was listed in the manual of that version, so that may be something to look into as far as legitimacy. I believe the continue feature is listed in the manual of SMB 1 (the US version), and its the same code for this one, if I remember right. Beating it without continuing would be extra brutal.
Abadox I beat in 2015, so its a little hazy. I remember it being a decent challenge but pretty moderate for an NES game. That would also depend on your proficiency with those types of games. I had alot more trouble with Image Fight (played like shit, had to use pause buffering) and 1942 on the NES, shooter wise. Zombies Ate My Neighbors seems brutal solo. I hate mazes so that one wouldnt be good for me, ha ha. I got pretty far on 2 players. Eternal Champions was always hard to play. Ive gone through most of the unique fighting games out there and thats one I never beat. Maybe one day. The hardest SNES games I completed were Super Smash TV and Jim Power. Those 2 stood out for me challenge wise in games from that 16 bit era. Save states is my prefferred way to learn these games with limited continues and a great way to practice sections and put the game together.
This is a wonderful commentary and I look forward to your comments on other videos! I actually love 1942, it's tattooed on me lmao.
@@Fortefyre Appreciate your response! That's a great series. Thanks for putting out these types of videos. Great presentation. You clearly have experience with these games, unlike alot of other channels.
@@theconsolekiller7113 That is incredibly kind of you to say. I'll try my best!
@@Fortefyre Any time
LOL I love that revenge lists are a thing
It's a backlog to the backlog lmao
So Rules of Release is a thing? I have felt silly but still resolute about my intention to complete Zelda 2: A The Adventure of Link before starting Link's Awakening or any of the other titles, even though I played through Ocarina of Time years ago. It's just that I have easy access to the games now, so I feel obligated to play through chronologically by release. I did this with Assassin's Creed the year Origins came out, which was pretty epic. Including Freedom Cry, where you free slaves.
Yeah so I implement a rules of release for what I do on my stream. I don't hop around franchises, I suffer through EVERY single game in franchise, even if I don't want to. It brings me joy. :)
Finally, someone else who thinks SMB2 (Japan) is the better game! I think people give it a bad name because they don’t want to put in the time to beat it.
Alot of folks think it's more of a rom hack. But I do enjoy it!
You're def gonna need save-states (say on an SNES mini with hakchi) to beat Zombies Ate My Neighbirs and Ghoul Patrol.
I believe it. And even then it might be gnarly.
Some great choices here, I need to check out Anno & get around to playing Ooze. OG Warcraft I got introduced to by my 7th grade teacher 😂 so it holds a special place in my heart, very primitive controls & setup compared to its sequel
Oh absolutely lmao. I have the same love for DotA.
Zombies ate my neighbors is legend
And it kicks my ass daily lmao.
Holy Diver (NES/Famicom), Tempest 4000 (PS4), Sine Mora EX (PS4), Astrosmash (Steam... yes, I admit it, I bought the game that was supposed to be on the Amico. I was not dumb enough to invest in the scam, but being a big fan of the original I had to get the updated version of the game and when I found out it was coming out on its own, I bought it on Steam. I always get to the level 7 boss with a crap-ton of lives, but that thing always wrecks me, but one day, one day!), Donut Dodo (Steam), Polybius (PS4 VR), no, I'm talking about the REAL Polybius by Llamasoft. Shadow of the Colossus (PS2). There's more, but I would have to sit down and think really hard to come up with others.
I don't think I ever beat Shadow of the Collossus either. I did beat Ico though.
@@Fortefyre Yeah, I beat Ico as well. I seem to have met more people who beat Ico but not Shadow of the Colossus. SOTC is a much harder game though, imo.
Oh absolutely.
Warcraft 1 was good, and the AI cheats, but cheats consistently so you can prepare for them that way. Then came Warcraft 2, and that just blew the doors off the first one.
I've beaten FF 1-7 and 9&10 (with guides and walkthroughs), but never got around to beating FF8. I was also tickled to hear you say "y'all". I say it daily, but rarely hear it on CZcams.
I'm a southern boy born and raised. Can't take the habit out haha.
@@Fortefyre Me too, I hear ya!
bro i have yet to beat the og starwars on the nes, and super star wars on the snes. i just cant win 🤣 thanks for the video it was awesome. have a great day my friend
Thank YOU for the epic idea as always!
Regarding your #1, if you like a shooter that mixes horizontal and verticle gamplay, then you should check out Axelay for SNES, if you haven't already. Great game.
Yeah I've always wanted to check that one out!
Have a good day
You as well!
Live stream Abadox! I need to get that cart!
It's not an expensive one either lol
*sees Anno 1602* Yep, Subbed.
I really want to see more of how that franchise evolved!
You should play Dune2 on the Genesis
I do want to check out the Dune games at some point.
@@Fortefyre well Dune 2 is a bit of a misnomer, it's not really a sequel. Different developers and publishers and it's a different kind of game. Dune 2 is even just called Dune on Genesis. It's basically Command and Conquer before Command and Conquer, so if you decide to do a series I would put in that one.
You also hate Zombies Ate My Neighbors? Thats a sub for me.
Hate is a very light term. I seek perpetual destruction of all carts of it lmao.
Not good with resource management? Hopefully your wife handles the budget 😁
....she does LMAO
Wish I had time to beat these games, oh well i guess Ill make video instead. (Just kidding)
LMAO listen...I play what my twitch viewership dictates. There is a slot for revenge games 🤣
This doesn't need to be 12 minutes.
Well it is. Lol.
Ghoul patrol is rubbish
How so? I don't think I've even seen footage of it.
@@Fortefyre it’s made by a different developer and they messed it up. It’s much shorter a game and the speed your character walks is SLOW to the point of you over pressing the direction you want to go or just run everywhere. They just blew it.
Ew.
@@Fortefyre now you have to play it just to see how aggravating it is to walk. Walking. They screwed up walking.
