California is just like every state. The schools that are private provide better facilities and coaches. St John Bosco and Mater Dei are just getting the athletes that use to go to Long Beach Poly 6 years ago. All top teams no matter what state recruit or defacto recruit. If you think that does not happen in Texas you are naive. It is as far as I am concerned a natural evolution of competition. Texas is just living in the past with the myth of the local team (local hero's going out and slaughtering the dragon). It is romanticism that's all it is. Reality of what goes on is far different. In the new age it is a thing of the past. The days of the local team are few and far in between for winning championships. It may still be present on the small school level but not on the big school level. I harp on Allen but Allen is not the first to recruit in Texas. Aledo showed Allen the way. From Allen in order to compete Calalleen, Northshore, Katy and Duncanville followed.
It's not the coaches that recruit it's the alumni and boosters that do all the dirty work in Texas. The alumni and boosters are far more powerful than the coach or principle of the school (Allen alumni are very powerful they got a 60mil dollar stadium built). Open enrollment can only get so many. Open enrollment does not mean anyone can go to that school. It just means they have so many slots for out of district students to attend what ever magnet or advance program they offer.**UIL HAS Nothing To Do With This** Texas Board of Education regulates this. Of course the principal or assistant principal helps out the athletic department by giving them a few of those slots. But the overwhelmingly vast majority of those slots go to academically inclined students. Also the athlete must meet the academic requirements to fill that slot.

Have a rahrah guy on MaxPreps (Zak Poff) that ranks you high (when others have to earn it). Even though the computers say you are not that good. You get preferential treatment by the UIL to give you a cakewalk to the Semi Finals and they continue to allow you to play just cupcake teams that are not on your level. You have a cheat code since 90% of your games are over by the beginning of the third quarter. So your athletes are more rested going into the playoffs. YOU BLEW IT. Rance Ledet I agree because Allen is out there alone with no good schools just like South Lake Carroll is but the first 2 or 3 exhibition games of the beginning of the season they couldâve been better. Dickerson is a really good team out of the Houston area and Cedar Hill is usually good but they wasnât this year. They shouldâve went after someone like Duncanville, North Shore, Katy or even Lake Travis. Someone that has a name right now that wouldâve had that stadium sold out. They choose not to every year tho which unfortunately makes them look soft.
