Absolutely, anything that gives a good figure articulated hands is worth it to me
They missed an opportunity to make a Sparkplug minicon. Kinda like how they made Drillbit for Metroplex.
They also missed an opportunity to include a replacement back piece of the head with the eyes painted red. Though I suppose all you need to fix that issue is a Kit Kat wrapper and some scissors.
And no overrun. I love the little target master that deluxe armada had.
I love DNA upgrade kits.
When they improves things that matters. Like for the SS ROTB Scourge, SS 07 Ironhide, or Gamer Optimus.
Here for Armada Optimus, it's just a tiny bit of "spices" for a toy that is basically perfect.

Aside from the core bots legs and the yellow eyes. I honestly agree. Good fig alone. Would definitely buy the old sparkplug too.

It's not perfect, but as this upgrade kit doesn't even come close to good, it's an easy pass (just like most of PE's "upgrade" kits).
im assuming u dont mes wit the super mode as that croch for it is 1 piece and makes posing it in other then a stock stance dumb looking
Upgrade kids are typically made for one or two pieces to enhance the figure. The rest are just addins to enhance little things. They aren’t gonna make a kit for like 2-5 bucks. It makes it way more complete. It not being for you doesn’t mean it’s useless.
Anything that makes that buttflap better is worth the money. Imo

This Optimus needed leg extensions for the core robot, those flaps that hide the holes below it's windows (the doors) and the hands for Super Mode. Nothing more. The hip skirt is a nice addition, though, not gonna lie. But the rest of the set is unnecessary. They tried to make it look like that Navy Commander 3rd party figure, rather than the OG armada Optimus.
Core robot leg extensions are in the Go Better kit, but then you'd end up with an extra set of door filler flaps, extra Super Mode foot fillers and the leg extensions probably aren't able to be used alongside the DNA Design truck bed fillers (so you'd then have those parts go unused)
The gun is ugly as shit, half unpainted and not accurate to the show at all. (To be fair it could just be unfinished but why finish everything else then leave the gun half-unpainted when you reveal the kit?)
The chest upgrade makes the vehicle mode look worse and its not even accurate to the show in super mode, plus if they release Jetfire then it'll get in the way of that combination.
The little gap fillers for the door area of the vehicle mode are fine.
The hands are fine but the images make the colour matching with the gold on the rest of the figure look shit.
The skirt piece is fine but the gold bits have the same potential issue as the hands.
The feet are okay but they don't blend into the trailer well in vehicle mode, something they did super well with Menasor's upgrade kit.
The hand covers would be fine for people who want to do that but they fuck up the look of the super mode shoulders.
Half of this upgrade kit is so bad compared to what DNA usually put out. This is another upgrade kit which makes me wish they would let you pick and choose aspects of them. I never wanted the chest piece for their Menasor upgrade kit so being able to save money by choosing not to include that would have been nice, and I only like less than half of this upgrade kit so it would just be a waste of money to include all the shit I don't care for. I want the hands, the tiny gap fillers for the vehicle mode door area and the skirt piece, but around 45 quid for the other shit that's useless to me just isn't worth it.
the only parts of this that seem to be worth the price are the hands and the front skirt panels lol

Finally got Armada Prime the other day, and other than being underwhelmingly smaller in truck/trailer mode next to the original the base bot, and combined mode easily make up for that. This is quite literally the toy I wanted Prime to be when I bough the original 20+ years ago. For a Commander though it would have been really nice to see articulated hands though not necessary, but the hip skirt should have been an absolute no brainer as the swivel while not the worst isn't the best solution in the world. Seeing as the upgrade very nicely remedies that, still not worth the price for all unnecessary bits/pieces. Upgrade gun would also look better in all black.(Better idea to include Sparkplug, and a replaceable red eyes for the super mode) Another miss by Hasbro and now with the upgrade kit.
Legitimately the only parts of this kit I’d want are the red panels for vehicle mode (because *no*, those spots being clear is *not* accurate, they were painted red on the original toy), the improved crotch skirt, the Supermode hands, and maybe the gun extension to play around with. The rest of the kit is utterly pointless.
The foot extensions are entirely pointless, the truck bed covers are neat but needless, the gray bit only exists for those truck bed covers, and the chest piece is stupid and pointless due to not being accurate to the show at all.
Overall a good half of this kit doesn’t need to exist and serves no purpose, even negatively impacting the vehicle mode. It’s like they just made up useless items until the kit costed what they wanted it to cost.
No sparkplug, no over-run, no sale.

If you bought this or the Star Saber kit I’m convinced you’re not satisfied with anything out of the box and you like collecting upgrades more than figures.
Probably poseable hands would make Prime even better but this kit is just a lot of not needed fluff. Like they tried something that really didn't need anything in particular
I'm on board with the new front skirt and kinda like the new back skirt, but A) the rest of the kit doesn't do anything for me and B) that back skirt looks like it'll be a pain in the ass to install.
DNA Designs make exceptional upgrade kits. Would recommend. It's more so on your specific transformer you might wanna spruce up.

For some people it's about making the figure accurate to the character on the screen, for others it's about making it accurate to the character in their mind.

In the show the gun is only for combined mode. Also, your robot mode can hold the gun? His hands are too small to hold it unless in combined for me/
You can store the base mode gun in the upper back anyway.

honestly the whole upgrade kit on the figure makes me think of fanshobby navel commander, might not have the kibble on the back in supermode but still kinda reminds me of that
Yeah...this kit didn't need all it had. I got an upgrade kit where it includes leg extenders for the core robot, new hands that open and shift to make a cleaner truck mode, and the truck cab door covers. Only thing I could ask for in an upgrade are split skirt piece, better super mode hands, Overrun and/or Sparkplug minicon or a minicon port adapter for people with the original minicons.
In My Opinion I Rather Look In To Transformers Rise Of The Beasts Studio Series Scourge Upgrade Kit This Look Fine But To Me It All Ready A Fantastic Toys

There is another upgrade kit that extend the legs for his smaller mode that i want to get. This one isnt worth it.
I have to admit, I was really hyped for this upgrade kit. So seeing that it doesn't come with a lot of useful stuff is kind of a letdown for me. If I had to get an upgrade kit, the Go Better one would be the better deal. The movable hands in the base robot mode already convinced me. But I might just leave my Prime as is since I cannot get it in any store I use to buy figures from (in the time of me writing this message, at least).
Do those door panels stay on or not? Because honestly, beyond those, there's no real reason go get it. Not even the articulated hands and the new skirt, as the gold paint doesn't match with the paint that Optimus already has.

Some of the changes appear to be based on the comics, where he had split back skirts. For me, it's mostly just okay, but the fact they're adding stuff like thigh/arm extenders and making the shoulder pylongs (which felt short and small on the stock figute) are a good deal of improvement. Hopefully they rework it a bit more before the final release to add new hands in regular mode.

The more I look at images of this kit, the more I think it's okay. There are definitely some unnecessary parts that only minimally improve the figure (or not at all, in the case of the chest flaps) and the new blaster is a pointless extra we're forced to pay for (especially when there's already a better third party blaster for Armada OP available) but I do prefer the end result. It does suck that extensions for the thighs/super mode biceps aren't included because the extra leg height throws off the proportions even more. I'm fine with a taller super mode but then I'd have to buy the Go Better kit just for the arm extender parts (and probably wouldn't be able to use the DNA truck bed covers alongside them).
I guess that's the problem with Transformers upgrade kits. Everyone's either trying to take advantage of the same hollow areas to solve different problems, or we end up having to buy multiple solutions for the same problems because most companies sell parts in kits.
Yeah, this is largely uselessness. DNA seems to be taking inspiration from third-party figures lately. This seems to have similarities to Fans Hobby's "Naval Commander" (as many have pointed out already)...their DK37/DK37B kits for Legacy Laser Optimus Prime/Speedia 500 RiD01 Scourge (I *fully* expect a "DK37T" repaint for G2 Toxic Collection Toxitron) are a pretty crystal clear and pretty blatant riff on Maketoys old Battle Tanker for the Reveal the Shield Deluxe class Laser Optimus Prime (with a plethora of repaints and retools to include a base figure to make other entire peeps, such as RiD01 Scourge, a proper SG Ultra Magnus, and even "Hypernovae", their Nova Prime) from back in the day.
Some of their kits that were actually USEFUL, though, were stuff like their DK08 & DK08+ for Power of the Primes Optimal Optimus (lots of neat stuff that's great to have, both kits were rolled up into one big beefy DK08EX box set for the Throne of the Primes repaint), the DK10 kit for SS14 Ironhide (an absolute MUST, but nowadays there's that Baiwei KO of SS14 with the kit parts already installed), the DK09 kit for SS13 RotF Megatron (great stuff here, especially since the wings to conplete the tank mode double as gap fillers for that torso in robot mode...good luck finding it now, though), etc. Basically their older stuff.

I really only got this kit for the hands n hip skirt cuz the stock version is terrible. But everything else is pretty much pointless as u say. Def overpriced in a way cuz ur forced to pay extra for stuff u dont need or want instead of jus sellin the hands n skirt only.

Besides the hands, the crotch piece and the door covers yeah. It would've improved the figure if it had compatible minicon ports.
