same people spend $1000 on a phone and 500-1000/year on a mobile plan. they pay anywhere between 200 and 1400/year for streaming services, then they complain about not having enough money for rent or new tires for their car. by-and-large, 70%+ of the people (in the US) are their own worst enemies when it comes to finances.

It's not just that it's ugly. It doesn't make any practical sense to own. It can't do any of the things that a conventional pickup truck can do. It can't keep up with any I.C.E. pickup on the road or do any serious work. So what's the sense in it? And this is not brand specific either. EVs in general make no common sense to own at all. Price to performance they just make no sense. They are inconvenient, very expensive to run and maintain and they don't last very long. They are merely toys for the rich to play with.

The rules and regulations are so tilted toward the employer and its shareholders, that who knows what kind of severance these people are getting. Companies should realize they should never expect loyalty; employment now is exclusively transactional...you want more, you pay more. Look how hard these greedy pukes fight work from home policies when companies massively profited during the pandemic and stated how well it functioned. Post-pandemic they have been losing their asses on commercial real estate, so now in person collaboration is critical...eat a bag of Ds.

i disagree, personally, having been terminated and driving all the way into the office just to be told in person what i could have been told by email and text would have saved me a lot of grief and frustration. i feel sorry for everyone that drove into the office and had to be told in-person just to drive all the way back home -- but only because they wasted the time driving.
at least they are still on payroll for the next 60 days or so. most companies would have just filed with WARN/SEC and then fired you without any prior announcement, you'd have found out at the gate your badge doesn't work and then someone would have explained to you that you have been terminated.
if only employees could be trusted not to retaliate, then you could trust them to be on-site for an announcement. but you can't. most people let their emotions control their actions and then do stupid things like steal, damage property, or worse. i worked at myspace and during layoffs there was a guy that tried to commit suicide by jumping off a suspended walkway.

Ok, I am retired, but during my career I have been on the receiving end of a surprise Iayoff (not at Tesla), and although it seems very callous to those affected, there are circumstances when it is not only sensible but vital, from a corporate standpoint, that employees be given NO notice and get walked out (or locked out) IMMEDIATELY, rather than being given the normal courtesy of 2+ weeks advance notice that they expect YOU to give if you leave on your own. In the case of Tesla, it makes sense that the company would take precautions to protect itself from understandably upset employees who could potentially ...
    > Steal critical technology/methodology, and/or proprietary/classified files (corporate espionage), and perhaps exploit same with competitors.
    > Engage in retributive sabotage.
    > Make a scene or stoke discontent among remaining employees.
It totally sucks to have that happen to you ... but given the cutting edge tech, and the risk of retaliation, the use of lockouts/walkouts does make some sense. In fact, i'd be surprised if they didnt.
