  • Unboxing the Martin D15M acoustic guitar. This is my first Martin guitar and, likely, the first Martin guitar in my family ever. So this is all new to me, although I've played a few over the years at guitar stores. I'm pleasantly surprised by the sound this guitar has. It could be that this one is not being held back by being in a store. It could be that the strings aren't dead from being played by others or that they are shipping these guitars with different strings now. No matter what, this guitar sounds different and I like it. See what you think of it and comment below. Enjoy!

I still love this guitar. Played it the other day for the first time in a while and I was reminded how nice it is for the price.

Yep this guitar is what I want. At my guitar center in Nashville they don’t have this D15M in stock. They have the 000-15M and I played it the other day for a hour or more and it just doesn’t have that sound I’m looking for. They have a deal now where you can make payments up to 48 months so I’m just going to hold out to get me this D15M. It sounds so good like it’s saying please play me. Hope you enjoy it.

I'm a dreadnaught fan, so I always gravitate towards things like the D15M, D18, D28, D35, etc. If you get one half as good as the one I got, you'll love it!

Martins best deal, quality tone woods all mahogany sound, and low oval performance player friendly neck. They are not much to look at but thry sound amazing and unique. I own a ooo 15 sm 12 frett and i will never part with it . These guitars are easy to clean and take care of . Like i said it wont winn a beauty contest but is a real american work horse. Keep it moisturized with humi packs in that dry texas enviornment .

Acoustic guitars are an addiction ,the more you play the more you want, and there will always be a shapely better figured more attractive girl to steal your affections .over the years i have come to want it all the cosmetic bling and stylings of a gibson, the low oval performance mahogany neck of a martin, and the sonic clarity and projection of a boutique guitar made from top grade tone woods and scalloped golden era type braceings. Maybe something like a santa cruz h 13 or a martin 0000custom18

Now this might be because I have the 1963 Dove and 1950s era Harmony Montclair, but I just don't really want any REALLY old guitars. I like the way they sound and I like the way they have aged, but I don't want to own one. But I do see all kinds of modern replicas that I wouldn't mind owning. And might be adding some different body shapes over the next few years. But I'm unlikely to buy an older acoustic because I just don't have a want for one.
Now if a good deal comes up on an old Gibson or Fender electric, all bets are off. lol

I just bought one used on reverb. Your videos sold me.
Love your style and as a beginner I look forward to playing better. Thank you

Awesome! Congrats on the new (to you) guitar! If it is anywhere near as good as this one, I think you'll really like it. Like I've said a few times before, I think Martin is doing something different than they used to do in the '90s and early 2000s, because this guitar is absolutely better sounding and feeling than any Martin I've picked up in the past. Or maybe I've just been playing ones that had been abused in guitar stores. No matter what, I finally understand the allure of Martin guitars.

Same! Just bought a used one on Reverb too and it’s unreal how great it sounds and looks.

They never ship an acoustic guitar with the end pin already installed, if the shipping box is dropped on it's bottom it's more prone to crack the guitar...

Which is really surprising, since I've played D15Ms in the past and not liked them as much as my Newporter. But this one seems to have a little bit of magic in it. I really do think Martin is doing something different on these now and it is making them easier to play and sounding better. But it might just be that this particular guitar is a ringer. Whatever it is, this is the best Martin D15M I've ever played and I'm very pleased with it.

“This guitar is by far and away, something Ive looked at over the years and never actually bit on until this guitar”
Thats a great quote! When you’re so impressed with your new guitar that you start speaking nonsense, you know its a great guitar!
