there is the list of poise breaks. darksouls.wikidot.com/poise for those interested in the intro check out the band Memento Mori here! / @mementomori2111
These are all useful tips if you don't play in Australia and don't have to simultaneously predict your opponents moves 2 seconds into the future as well worrying about getting backstabbed where you were standing 4 seconds ago.
If you are talking about people with the original to the remaster then no. But if you're talking about if you played 1 you could jump into 3, might take a while to get used to it
Dude I moved from Rome to Perth and everytime I get invaded I'm fucking monkaS. It's impossible to play online here ... And I even have a good connection for Australian standards
just tried PvP for fun as a forest hunter guy walks _through_ me and backstabs then smashes my spine with Havel's club. lots of fun, do want to try again but with a more _solid_ character
Some guy on PvP kicked my ass. He then joined my game and beat Ornstein and Smough for me. Well, jokes on me because I learned nothing and now I have to kill them on NG+ without Xbox Live.
You might've figured this one out already but you can still occasionally summon npc blue phantoms, in this case Solaire. He's helpful if only for keeping one of those two assholes occupied.
yeah I think summoning is too powerful in dark souls, just as an example bell gargoyles get obliterated by solaire, while on my first playthrough where I never summoned anyone I was the one getting obliterated, as they proceeded to be the hardest boss in my entire playthrough
One piece of advise i have: Learn to wake-up parry, I've gotten so many people with this that try to wake-up hit me with a weapon. Wake-up parry is basically when you get hit on the floor by a large weapon, parry or backstab...but instead of rolling away as soon as you get back up, look at them and hit parry as soon as you get up. You'd be surprised how many people you'll parry with this. I've won fights that I should of lost this way because someone tried to wake-up hit me. (If they bring out a pyro-flame, catalyst or talisman though....roll away!)
+Supah I actually ran into a havel chest, dusk crown, dwgr, dark magic spamming sorcerer before in the township, which is by far my worst township encounter.
i found my worst encounter like today he was a havelmage that would point down at me every time, almost killed him and he used a divine blessing (and then pointed down) and then he started black crystalinv away?????? (obvs japanese)
+Hollow Marthon Well the video was published in 2013 quite a bit before we saw all of the mobs for BB.... I've seen so many fashion souls' builds that I would say it's probably just a coincidence. Bloodborne is good fun though, haha.
Excellent vid.All of ur points r right on the money especially the last one - just have fun with the game - take chances and no fear of losing.Keep on dropping the knowledge.
I love using the offhand greatsword, that swing has such a wide angle, its phantom is great for interrupting back stabs or dead angling thorugh sheilds
I’ve been playing this game since its release back in 2011. I’ve just had an idea of searching CZcams for newcomer guides to see what’s going on that plane so I’ve watched your video and I must admit that its a classic within classics. I want you to be aware of it.
How do you get better connection in matches? There are so many connection issues going on that it makes it really hard to enjoy PvP. Shortswords with the range of a Washing Pole, backstabbing each other at the same time, players running straight through me and backstabbing me. When I do have a good connection with the other player its really fun though, but most fights are quite bad. Does the Host you're invading get a connection advantage or something?
The "Try someone more advanced then usual for you" tip is the most amazingly important one id say. Even if its parrying NPCs, the skill increase can help a lot.
i think the best description for a quality build is one with at least lvl 27 strength and 30 dexterity. the majority are between those levels and lvl 40 in each. a lot of people use 27/40, or 40/40. i personally use 40/35 due to the fact i use strength weapons more often
I've found that gravelord's sword is awesome in pvp for the entirety of it's move-set if nothing else. Note that for such a high phys dmg weapon it's easy to poise-break someone and stagger them purely from an R1 spam if they're too close in during poise-break. I've killed many player by simply R1 spamming their health down and right as the fight draws to a close and stamina is down to last hit range I toss in an R2 for good measure and even if they go to backpeddle the reach from this lunging stab finish usually does the trick. It's a mean weapon to use on someone who likes to overuse their acrobatics in hopes of avoiding hits, and outlasting your stamina bar.
Is there any way to make yourself to connect to other players easier? I was streaming tonight and at the end of my stream i didn't connect with a single player for atleast 45 mins
An excellent thing to do with ultra greatsword wielders for a free hit (most of the time), it to tap roll to leap backwards the light attack. Its good because its fast and most of the time if they charge in you land the hit when they miss their strike.
It definitely works vs. low poise builds because that combo is basically a stunlock and most people really don't expect that. Throw in the fact that you can dead angle the offhander slap and you got yourself quite a nifty trick :3
Love the video, well done, great play as well. I've been on PvE for so long and just started making PvP strides, on Remastered Xbone (got all the achievements and have passed +7 , but PvP is so different, just trying to learn. ATM working on a Dex/Strenght build, is going to end up in 99-120, not sure yet. Lot of PvP stuff eludes me, dead angles really mess me up, just looking for info here and there.
Sometimes, yes. Try it out with a BSS mainhand, so you can combo the offhander slap into 2 Balder stabs - but sadly a lot of people stack a lot of poise so that strategy doesn't always work out :(
You should try out a hyper mode/ glass cannon bow build. Ive seen it done in demon souls extremely effectively and I wonder if it would work as well in dark souls.
I kinda found that a good way to counter Sunlight blades and Darkmoon blades would be to use the Effigy shield, (16 faith IS needed, but 90 phys and 90 lght resistance is worth it) and the Crest shield... Just turtle carefully, and outlast their buff and they are completely powerless.
10:59 he talks about "Spades"? going through 5 full sets of armor during a single fight, anyone got a link to that Video? I can't seem to find it. Will be much appreciated! :)
more of an advanced tip but for example if you notice your opponent is using pyromancies you can quick switch to a black knight shield. If he is using magic try switching to a crest shield or a spell stoneplate ring
Okay, what do I do about people that do NOTHING but backstab farm? Especially when I'm nowhere near them, or not even facing away from them and they still lock me into backstab. Recently the big thing I've seen is I'll backroll (with darkwood grain ring) away from them, and they still manage to backstab without even moving. Is it just lag or something?
Hey there MrIwont4get. Just saw your clip which I found it very informative and useful. Especially the last advise you give: It is a game and we should all enjoy it and have fun with it. I look forward to seeing you one day on a PvP match. Thank you once again.
Good tips, but what if you’re constantly drowning in lag and backstabbed from the front by twinks? Edit: but on a serious note, you don’t need vitality for PvE, but low HP in PvP means constant death, so what’s the goal for leveling your stats? My PvE strategy has almost always been boosting endurance and dex, two handing your weapon, using Int for the useful area navigation spells, and entirely ignoring vitality until the other stats hit 40. Help me?
instead of using the same character with different weapons, i literally just make a new character with a new set-up for a weapon i want to use. i do this A LOT too. as for parry-specific items (buckler, target shield, parrying dagger), i personally don't like using those, the animation simply doesn't feel right to use for me. and as for playing with 0 poise, i do a lot of glass cannon characters so i've adapted to having little-no poise/defense, however recently i made a build meant for being fast with heavier armor. as for parrying people myself? i've wanted to start doing that but... no one's around to fight me to help me get good with parrying anyway!
I pick up Dark Soul again on Nintendo Switch and I am just playing PVP at Township too. I am curious why there is sometimes a glowing ring on the ground that resembles the one after I defeat Iron Golem in Sen’s fortress?
Is everyone that pvp's mainly lvl 99? I'm about to play for the very first time, and am wondering what my chances of getting invaded are just whilst im lvling and playing my way through
It takes so much time and effort to fully upgrade equipment that I can't imagine an effective way of familiarising myself with a wide range of weapons and armor, and figuring out my preferred equipment combos, in order to get good at PvP. That is unless I cheat - something I'm reluctant to do. Do players often cheat to get more Titanite Chunks and Slabs? Plus there's the issue of finding your preferred stat spread - having to start several or many new games in order to do this. I want to get good at PvP in Dark Souls, but these obstacles seem quite substantial. I'd really appreciate your help if you win duels at least half the time.
31 poise is a good number, it lets you withstand a hit from 2h katanas, curved swords and most stun-locky weapons. If you're not good at parrying/dealing with greatswords and other heavy weapons, then you may want to go with 53.
I would say that with a short range weapon you need to be more offensive and close gaps and not let the opponent take advantage of a greater reach. You need to keep the pressure on. With a longer weapon you can be more defensive because it means you can out range them and keep them at a distance your comfortable with unless someone is very offensive.
I want to share that for a low level class you will want to care more for poise than for armor rating, i wear barely anything, but in conjuction with the wolf ring i can make up for a bad roll
PVP is a waste of time until you have beaten the game 10 fucking times and have everything thats worth having. otherwise its just a annoying way to serve as someones soul cash . . .
PvP is never a waste of time, in fact I prefer it to the PvE and consider that more of a waste of time more than the PvP is. But of course that is my opinion, just as your comment was your opinion. That being said, you could be a little more polite about it considering this is a PvP focused channel.
MrIwont4get i didnt mean it in any offense to the content creator or any of the PVP audiance. im just saying that i havent had any decent PvP experiance so far whats so ever. and everytime i come to something trying to find help/stratagies its always someone with a outragously long health bar and insanely powerful weapons and armor thats loaded with humanities and souls.
bubbajoe117 Really you will have a really difficult time finding any good PvP now due to the fact DkS2 is out. The pvp meta for this game was SL 125, and the average health is actually around 1700-1800 for most people. I only have 1500. My armor gives defenses in the 300s across the boards, so it isnt great but I like the way it looks. As far as the humanity and souls are concerned, those are just proof I pvp a lot and somewhat know what I'm talking about. Also what would you consider an "insanely powerful weapon"? I find that most weapons in this game were pretty well balanced and the varied movesets are really nice.
MrIwont4get my max HP is 862 and for the most part i still have the default theif armor for the most part as my best armor.im lvl 43 and my best weapon is a Drake sword +2 . . .
bubbajoe117 You're still pretty new to the game, in time you will be able to handle invasions better. Look into the other weapons in the game. The drakesword is ok for getting started in the game but you will need to switch weapons soon. It you would be surprised how quickly your build will become more powerful, it just takes a bit of time.
the standard level for pvp is between 100 and 130. there is a pretty good chance of getting invaded, unless you remain in hollow form. if you do there is no chance
I can see it working on low-poise builds especially the BSS which has a very fast strike. I have a pure STR character using a full Smough build and it's hilarious. Sometimes I lose but its so much fun so mash people as Smough. I'm currently doing a pure VIT build on a Dragon Covenant. 50 VIT 25 END and nothing else. SL60-70 range for invading.
i started the game recently,i use a battle axe+7 and a hollow sheild+5, is this ok for higher level invaders. cause ive gotten lucky with this setup but i wanna know if i should countine it
hey dude this is from awhile back,im alot better now.im souls level 194 and i use obsidian greatsword+5,and hollow greatsheild+10 and i win most evry match
Depends on the latency, 2h zweihanders simply don't have enough horizontal range or speed if the latency is high enough. Especially considering that most roll bsers have high as fuk latency and can stab you from miles across the screen. Unlock hitting with fast weapons like gold tracer is a better option against lagstabbers because it's possible to spam or dead angle 3-4 attacks before the latency catches up (and hitting them also negates the BS damage).
im nowhere near completion of the game so idk how pvp works, but is it like match making where i can search for players or do i have to invade them? if so, can i buy the stone to invade other people?
You can get a Red Soapstone from the Painted World of Ariamas and you can use that for people to directly summon you into their world for PvP. If you don't know where that area is then you'll probably have to look it up. But I recommend looking it up second playthrough and PvP second playthrough because first playthroughs should always be blind.
To invade you'll need to get the red eye orb, and again if you don't find that on your own blind then you should get it second playthrough (do what you want of course, but I'm a stickler about blind playthroughs)
Xenu Baby i stopped playing but i got past the gargoyles, killed the moonlight butterfly, went down to the sheep goat boss in the little room with the stairs (forgot his name) and i also got through the dragon lizard boss in the depths, where the sewers are. i stopped playing after that boss, im continuing sooon
I would love to know how to fight against someone with the grant + fatroll when they just parry whenever you attack and just get partials, and the bs you if you try to do anything else. That's all I fight when I'm using that build and I hate it.
In b4 the remaster drops
"Remaster"
@@connorsucksatgames2263 reeeemaster
Eeee
I thought I was getting good at this game. Then I tried PvP.
you're just like me
I mean you just feel like you're shit again
You will get there inevitably if you don't rage quit. Then, the game will be really awesome. Keep at it.
+A casual Gamer yep
I tried and made another character and got good at pvp
man I feel awesome again 😂
+AhmadDodgeball Good. Keep it up cause that will keep the multiplayer alive for longer
I like PVP but I'm too much of a Sunbro build to actually engage in it :x
And I'm too 'honorabru' to ever 2v1 someone.
These are all useful tips if you don't play in Australia and don't have to simultaneously predict your opponents moves 2 seconds into the future as well worrying about getting backstabbed where you were standing 4 seconds ago.
So excited for DS:R just for the PvP and community to be back again
Turkey Warrior
i have a question! Can people with the old dark Souls play with the new ones?
If you are talking about people with the original to the remaster then no. But if you're talking about if you played 1 you could jump into 3, might take a while to get used to it
Dude I moved from Rome to Perth and everytime I get invaded I'm fucking monkaS. It's impossible to play online here ... And I even have a good connection for Australian standards
"The important thing is having fun, so just relax!"
[stabs a guy through the heart]
just tried PvP for fun as a forest hunter
guy walks _through_ me and backstabs then smashes my spine with Havel's club.
lots of fun, do want to try again but with a more _solid_ character
MMO Combat should be more like this, instead of stupid ability spamming and winning through the better build, instead of Skill
Depends on the game and the end-user :)
I enjoy games like DS and Chivalry as much as, say...WoW or SWTOR.
Cynfar lag won't allow for it
Urban Cohort Like DS and Chivalry can be compared.
Thats what i always say but people never give ds a chance because they dont wanna learn techs
SeraWasNever Damn, for me Solaire fucking died to Ornstein and I had to face buffed Ornstein by myself
yeah I think summoning is too powerful in dark souls, just as an example bell gargoyles get obliterated by solaire, while on my first playthrough where I never summoned anyone I was the one getting obliterated, as they proceeded to be the hardest boss in my entire playthrough

(If they bring out a pyro-flame, catalyst or talisman though....roll away!)
What if you wanna heal doe
um...if you are on low health in a duel, don't heal at all. If you are in a normal invasion, make sure it's safe to heal before doing so.
FurthestBen I always jump attack to wake-up hit people. If your opponent is smart, that's what they'll do.
stereotypicalpenguin Most ain't so I do it anyway.
How come you always get put against people with low armor? Every time I get invaded its some dude with all Havels and a katana of some sort.
Not in the township. Where do you pvp, and what system?
+Supah I actually ran into a havel chest, dusk crown, dwgr, dark magic spamming sorcerer before in the township, which is by far my worst township encounter.
HammerMC Chris O'neil 4/20
i found my worst encounter like today he was a havelmage that would point down at me every time, almost killed him and he used a divine blessing (and then pointed down) and then he started black crystalinv away?????? (obvs japanese)
Elite Knight armor, grass crest, baller swag sword, and a lightning washing pole r1 spammer is nothing less than a bucket of disease.
8:37 If I didn't know any better, I could swear this was a shadow of Yharnam cosplay. I hope they had a fun time when Bloodborne came out.
+Hollow Marthon Well the video was published in 2013 quite a bit before we saw all of the mobs for BB.... I've seen so many fashion souls' builds that I would say it's probably just a coincidence. Bloodborne is good fun though, haha.
thanks for making this video so i can watch it 5 years later as a noob for the remaster
Great Video and great job on all the weapon showcases. You have been a huge help to those who want to be more creative with their PvP builds.
Used your video for the first time in almost 5 years as a refresher for the remaster
Thanks for the tips man, I can use them. Still wrapping my head around this games pvp.
Thanks, that means a lot!
This is a really sweet video. Good information density, and very informative indeed! I want to PvP now.
Does the Host you're invading get a connection advantage or something?
thanks for the tips, question, have u faced anyone who was using the Giant Dad build, or a player who's gamertag is Velkaa??
glad you enjoyed it...we need to get matches in still!
The list of poise breaks is a huge help
no problem!
For anyone who doesn't know , you can get the red sign soapstone in painted world of ariamis where the giant man birds are up the staircase.
just saw your top 10 duel weilding vid congratz :P
added a link to the bands youtube channel in the description
The "Try someone more advanced then usual for you" tip is the most amazingly important one id say. Even if its parrying NPCs, the skill increase can help a lot.
Heyo iwont4get, have you done a Butcher knife video? It's a crazy fun alternative to the Golem axe, one of my favourites.
i think the best description for a quality build is one with at least lvl 27 strength and 30 dexterity. the majority are between those levels and lvl 40 in each. a lot of people use 27/40, or 40/40. i personally use 40/35 due to the fact i use strength weapons more often
Thanks for the tips, they helped a lot and I finally beat some gankers on my own today XD
hey, what is that armor set the host is wearing around 8:40....I've never seen it before and haven't been able to find it in the guides.
gold hemmed hood, witch cloak, hollow warrior or soldier leggings (cant tell) and i cant tell the gauntlets either
I've found that gravelord's sword is awesome in pvp for the entirety of it's move-set if nothing else. It definitely works vs. low poise builds because that combo is basically a stunlock and most people really don't expect that. Throw in the fact that you can dead angle the offhander slap and you got yourself quite a nifty trick :3
Love last tip ;) Pretty good guide!
What armor set should i wear if i really want to light roll but still have enough poise to not get stunned every friggen hit?
how much vitality/endurance is recommended for a melee/miracle build? i've got 40 and 36, respectively. sl is 120.
Well in remastered dead angles are not a thing, so don't worry about them.
truer words were never spoken
breaking the lock on would fall under the part where i mentioned playing unlocked, and i talked about poise.
Great advice! All newbies need to see this vid

Tip 10 is the best IMO.
Whats the best weapon/armour for you build, i wanna use a hectic great weapon for both pvp and pve?
the gold tracer can only be roll buffed, and unless you are on pc then there is no hack for being able to simply buff a gold tracer.
What are your thoughts on shield switching?
10:59 he talks about "Spades"? going through 5 full sets of armor during a single fight, anyone got a link to that Video? I can't seem to find it. Will be much appreciated! :)
by using a save editor. its harmless, unless it distracts you mid fight :P
Wow this really helped me a lot, thanks a lot!
no problem!
more of an advanced tip but for example if you notice your opponent is using pyromancies you can quick switch to a black knight shield.
Is it just lag or something?
i used a dagger and a bastard sword in my left hand. if you're interested in it check out my "dual wielding, variety is key" video for more info :)
What weapons were you using at 6:30?
Hey there MrIwont4get. Just saw your clip which I found it very informative and useful. Especially the last advise you give: It is a game and we should all enjoy it and have fun with it. I look forward to seeing you one day on a PvP match. Thank you once again.
stop by the stream sometime, it's easier to run into me than you'd think ;)
What is a good level to Starr PvPing at? My friend said 50 but I just want another opinion. I've been doing it at 120 but I guess that's "pro level".
What armor combination are you using?
At SL125 ,the usual pvp level, from what I see a lot of people fight in Oolacile does it matter if you are on NG+ and if so which NG should I be on?
being on ng or ng+ or even ng+7 doesnt matter for pvp if you're invading.
Thanks, I was a bit worried because I had trouble getting invaded
Good tips, but what if you’re constantly drowning in lag and backstabbed from the front by twinks?

The best place to go for advice on what to do if my weapon is shorter than everyone else's.
Get a longer one
instead of using the same character with different weapons, i literally just make a new character with a new set-up for a weapon i want to use. i do this A LOT too.
as for parry-specific items (buckler, target shield, parrying dagger), i personally don't like using those, the animation simply doesn't feel right to use for me.

Wow its not like this is what almost everyone does
that would go along with weapon switching imo. same idea, just a different item slot
i am on xbox, but i have played on ps3. the suggestion i gave does apply to both.
10:38
Dat ridiculously lagless parry timing
How close geographically were you form that guy, did you check his profile afterward?
I pick up Dark Soul again on Nintendo Switch and I am just playing PVP at Township too.
I am curious why there is sometimes a glowing ring on the ground that resembles the one after I defeat Iron Golem in Sen’s fortress?
It's a miracle resonance ring. They are a bit of a mystery still lol.
Is everyone that pvp's mainly lvl 99? I'm about to play for the very first time, and am wondering what my chances of getting invaded are just whilst im lvling and playing my way through
What helmet are you wearing on ng+7 and never seen it
i would be VERy interrested in the poise breaks.
Do people go to a certain area to pvp at or just ?
quality build master race
It takes so much time and effort to fully upgrade equipment that I can't imagine an effective way of familiarising myself with a wide range of weapons and armor, and figuring out my preferred equipment combos, in order to get good at PvP. in my left i had a crystal bastard sword, and in the right i had the silver knight straightsword

the estoc dark moon blade is a beast
8:12 What weapon is that? (Super noob question, IK)
How to you deal with players that are turtling behind high stability shields? all I run into when invading are new players that turtle and hackers...
PVP is a waste of time until you have beaten the game 10 fucking times and have everything thats worth having. otherwise its just a annoying way to serve as someones soul cash . . .

One last advanced technique to mention would be Dead angling. EWGF got a good guide for that.
5:04 first person I've ever seen to actually use the demon machete two handed r2.
the standard level for pvp is between 100 and 130. there is a pretty good chance of getting invaded, unless you remain in hollow form. if you do there is no chance
thanks for the tips im relatively new to pvp so thanks mr
I can see it working on low-poise builds especially the BSS which has a very fast strike. I have a pure STR character using a full Smough build and it's hilarious. Sometimes I lose but its so much fun so mash people as Smough.
I'm currently doing a pure VIT build on a Dragon Covenant. 50 VIT 25 END and nothing else. SL60-70 range for invading.
laggsouls pvp
What was the blade he used in his left hand?
i started the game recently,i use a battle axe+7 and a hollow sheild+5, is this ok for higher level invaders. cause ive gotten lucky with this setup but i wanna know if i should countine it
Wouldn't recommend it you'll find some better loot save your titanite and perhaps look up a better weapon or try some more different kinds of weapons
hey dude this is from awhile back,im alot better now.im souls level 194 and i use obsidian greatsword+5,and hollow greatsheild+10 and i win most evry match
lol thanks im also on new game plus too
Depends on the latency, 2h zweihanders simply don't have enough horizontal range or speed if the latency is high enough. Especially considering that most roll bsers have high as fuk latency and can stab you from miles across the screen.
Unlock hitting with fast weapons like gold tracer is a better option against lagstabbers because it's possible to spam or dead angle 3-4 attacks before the latency catches up (and hitting them also negates the BS damage).
crystalline helm, hollow thief top, iron bracelets, wanderers boots
Hey what armor are you wearing ?
What is the armor have in your character
what's the song at the beginning of the vid? just enough to sound familiar but can't pick it out. We need more metalhead gamers haha.
Great vids BTW
a link to the band is in the description, i dont remember which song of theirs it was
what's your opinion on people that absolutely MUST roll bs every single one of your attacks and never attack normally once?
im nowhere near completion of the game so idk how pvp works, but is it like match making where i can search for players or do i have to invade them? if so, can i buy the stone to invade other people?
You can get a Red Soapstone from the Painted World of Ariamas and you can use that for people to directly summon you into their world for PvP. If you don't know where that area is then you'll probably have to look it up. But I recommend looking it up second playthrough and PvP second playthrough because first playthroughs should always be blind.
To invade you'll need to get the red eye orb, and again if you don't find that on your own blind then you should get it second playthrough (do what you want of course, but I'm a stickler about blind playthroughs)
+Xenu Baby yeah i havent searched anything, i told myself my first playthrough will be blind. thanks :D
+TheLegendaryLemon How far are you currently?
Xenu Baby i stopped playing but i got past the gargoyles, killed the moonlight butterfly, went down to the sheep goat boss in the little room with the stairs (forgot his name) and i also got through the dragon lizard boss in the depths, where the sewers are. i stopped playing after that boss, im continuing sooon
Are you playing on XBox? Because it´s almost impossible to avoid roll bs on PS3, no matter which direction you are facing.
I would love to know how to fight against someone with the grant + fatroll when they just parry whenever you attack and just get partials, and the bs you if you try to do anything else. That's all I fight when I'm using that build and I hate it.
