The “Luka get yours” strategy won’t work anymore. Hawks found out the hard way. He also has Kyrie so they can literally just take turns burning your single coverages. Those 2 are the best iso scorers and most clutch scorers this season.
There’s a reason why they’re the best team in the clutch.

Not saying he's bad. He's lower-mid for starting centers... but we've got 2. When Zubac is on the floor, he's going to have to game plan for 2 different centers as good or better than him, and they are going to have twice as many fouls to burn through and only 24 minutes each to burn through them... and when Zubac is off the floor, either one of them is going to feast.
Most of the game is going to be guard on guard action, but in the background, our center rotation is going to be giving us like 10 free points a game. The Clippers not only have to match up against our frontcourt with the 1st or 2nd best duo in the league and the 1st or 2nd best player in the world... but they are going to have to win that matchup by more than 10 points to win any given game.
We're not going to sweep them. They'll get hot one game, we'll go cold, maybe Kawhi is good for a miracle... but 4 games of overcoming the very reliable advantage we will have in the paint... it's going to be a lot like us against the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals. The constant trickling of free paint points is going to eat away at them.
Mavs in 5. 6 if they're lucky.
The "Luka get yours" strategy will always work if the opponent shuts down everyone else on the team but him. Thats why the content creator for this video says how Luka can be lethal if he get double digit assists. Otherwise, if his teammates aren't contributing but he's solely doing all of the work, they lose the game 9 times out of 10. It's not Luka you need to worry about, it's the contribution of his teammates is what you need to worry about, and all teams know this

You’re completely right on Gafford. 2 years ago when Gafford would have legit minutes against Zubac and the clippers. He out rebounded and out scored Zubac. He will definitely be a major lob threat to the clippers and I’m sure that he will be that 3rd to dominate along side with Kyrie and Luka.
PJail and DJJ are gonna have some high scoring games imo. We have to stretch the floor tp get kawhi away from the rim
Definitely DJJ because he can attack the paint constantly since the Clippers are small in the paint.
PJ would have to have the hot hand at the wing to shoot some 3s. He can attack as well tbh, he had a pretty good game against the clippers earlier this season.

Zubac did not have a PG 2yrs ago, Harden's turned him into a big offensive threat and Zu has beefed up considerably, now one of the largest C's in the NBA. Mason matched up with DG & grabbed 11 rebs against him this season, 6 offensive, DG's impact is likely minimal.

Honestly it's the other way around, last two times mavs got put out by clippers, clippers fans was acting like they really did something to a team that took them to a 7 game series, which they was suppose to sweep them but nearly got eliminated themselves... then clippers went on to not achieve anything, just basically pounded their chest on a squad they was suppose to beat on paper.

Clippers small ball is worse this year than the pre Harden. PG and Harden cannot be trusted in the playoffs at this stage of their careers.
Luka by himself torched the clippers and pushed them to 7 games. That’s factory settings Luka.
The difference makers here for the Mavs are PJ and THJ. If they make shots, they will not lose.
THJ shooting splits have been off for the past couple months already. Don’t know if he could just turn it on during playoffs when he couldn’t even have it on during reg season the last 2-3 months

Luka had the easiest job on the court. Harden is a TERRIBLE match up for Luka, last time Luka had the luxury of going against ONE "PG", Reggie Jackson who rarely dribbled the ball, attacked the rim, or anything aside of camping at the 3pt line. Pat Bev & Rondo got benched for being way too small. Harden's defense against Luka compared to our PGs last time is like night and day.
If Clippers would be such a nightmare for Mavs , Mavs would simply go for the sixth spot. They DON'T fear the Clipps
The Clippers have ALWAYS had a center advantage over the Mavericks... with Zubac
But not anymore. Lively has matured, and Gafford now means that we have 48 minutes of high-quality paint protection and lob threat every game.
The Clippers could never even contain Luka. They certainly aren't going to be able to contain Luka, Kyrie, 2 of the league's best lob threats, one of the leagues best cutters, one of the leagues best spot-up 3-point shooters, and an extremely switchable 1-4.
That and we just so happen to be the hottest team in the league this year? The Clippers are scared as well they should be.

False, Zubac was in his 2nd year with us when he went against all star Porzingis, it was the biggest talent gap on the court. DG and Lively are around the same weight as Kawhi Leonard lol, Zubac is pushing 270+ if not more these days, Plumlee is also massive. Both men got the better of your C's last time they matched up.
And not to mention LA's PG rotation was TINY, Luka went against Rondo, Beverly and. Reggie Jackson. Harden & Russ are actually 6'4/6'5 200+, Luka played tiny PGs but will have to go against players his size now. 😊
Also Zu did not have a PG back then to set him up, Reggie averaged just 2.7APG, Kawhi-PG did all the ball handling & playmaking for the squad. Reggie was basically a SG. Harden's turned Zu into a legit lob threat & scoring threat in general.

Historically Luka targets, bully’s Zubac till he fouls out or becomes a liability. At that point clippers will be forced to go small. Dallas has a bigger small ball lineup and can even play centers vs the small ball. To me clippers don’t have a solid enough wing beyond Kawhi to win going small, Dallas is too big. Kawhi is gonna be asked to carry a big weight

It is a mistake to underestimate either of these teams. I see the Clippers targeting Luka and Kyrie in the pick and roll and try to get either one in foul trouble. I think the Mavericks have an advantage with their 2 quality big men in Gafford and Lively. I expect this to be a great series. Ultimately I think Luka and Kyrie won't be stopped in the final minutes and will hit big shots and they will take the series in 6 or 7 games.
Mavs in 5. I’ll give the Clippers 1. There’s a lot of veteran talent over there.

I belive that Dallas will use a lot of just luka or just kyrie lineups outside of crunch time to have 4 good defenders on the floor to slow them down, with lineups looking like luk/ky, dante, Derrick, PJ and lively/gafford
I know one thing for sure the Mavs will bring it with 100% effort win or lose , I can’t say the same for the Clippers.

Anyone who says the mavs defense is only against bad teams are ignoring the context of when the games happened and that the west is full of good teams. There’s a large difference between the rockets and jazz vs the truly awful teams like the blazers. Hell even the spurs put up a fight now

Any coach who goes to hack a Shaq with 6 min left in gm3 and again in game 6 while also employing your star guard Lu dort to quit playing actual defense shouldn’t be a “coach of the year”. You won 57 staring giddy and playing sweet offense. Not one guy scoring or shooting free throws every possession. Shai is great but no one player is good enough. It reminded me of Luka minus to 45 point triple doubles back in his first two playoff series.
Maverick don’t have defense khawi good on defense Paul george good on defense and Westbrook been good on defense and mince good on defense and off the bench he is going to have to gaurd Westbrook and Westbrook will bully him and I think the solution is to put Westbrook he is strong and quick enough to get bully and he got the energy to full court press luka and Westbrook is good at making plays from behind in pick roll which what luka like to do
Have Luka, Kyrie, and the Mavs crystallized their collective game? If they have, we’re about to see the results. That’s the story here. As for the Clippers, it’s hard to expect much from passive-aggressive drama kings.

1. Luka (best overall player, great shooter, great passer and insane floor vision)
2. Kyrie Irving (best 3pt shooter, best handles, great in the clutch)
3. Daniel Gafford (Insanely consistent and confident defender, great finisher)
4. Dereck Lively (Next Mavs superstar, will surpass Gafford in the next few years)
5. P.J. Washington (Jack of all trades and overall great fit, but lacks confidence and inconsistent in shooting)
6. Josh Green (very skilled player, can shoot, dunk, pass and still young has room to grow)
7. Exum (Has drastically improved since going to Euroleague and has proven he can will and make the last shot)
8. Maxi (reliable player, but not the best big man)
Not going to mention the rest. Tim hardaway is someone you don't want to play in the clutch, seems like his career is going downhill. Derrick Jones Jr probably the next best pick.

Let Kawhi get his buckets all game everygame and lockdown everyone else. His health isn't reliable and he isn't as young as he used to be so he doesn't have the energy. You said it yourself the clippers live or die by Kawhi so wear him out.

I picked the Mavs in 6, I think they are just a more consistent/better team.
Defensively LA upgraded tremendously with Luka counters. Harden, Mann, Russ, Coffey, PJ this time but last time they ran multiple TINY PGs like Beverly/Rondo who both got benched because Lukq had 6" & 50lbs on them. Reggie Jackson was their lone PG and he's even worse than Harden defensively. Our guys can tank hits, Luka used to send our 180lbs flying across the court with a bump. In fact I think Hardeh held Luka to around 35% on like 21 possessions iirc this year, Harden's a bad defender but post defense is & taking hits is actually his biggest strength.
I'm thinking if Mavs can put Luka on Kawhi at times if harden hitting his shots, so we can put DJJ or Josh Green on harden and PJ will be on PG. This way Mavs can still have Gafford on the floor with their pnr game with Luka. But Harden does what he usually does in playoffs i think Kyrie will be enough on him.

Also Reggie Jackson was not their primary playmaker, it was PG-Kawhi playing PG. Reggie stood around the 3pt line & only dished out 2.7APG, he didnt make Luka work whatsoever. Harden-Russ meanwhile average a whopping 13 APG between them, constantly working the opponent's PGs. No rest for Luka & Kyrie, felt like Luka cruised WAY too easily, and KP also pulled Kawhi off Luka because he was a horrific match up for us being 7'2 & only Kawhi could guard him.

Lively fouled out last time he met Zubac, while Plumlee grabbed 11 rebs 6 OREB, against DG last time they met. They're actually outweighed by like 80lbs or so by LA's centers which are huge. Zubac was in his 2nd year with us going against an all star C in KP last time & stood 0 chance.

Since the trade deadline, we've got PJ Washington at the 4... I guess you could call him a switchable 4, but we've also had either Gafford or Lively on the floor every single minute we can. We are NOT a small-ball team anymore. Not until one of those two starts taking 3's, and even then it still wouldn't really be small-ball.
It might benefit the Mavs to go small more often against the Clippers.

I think Gafford and Lively will still get a fair amount of minutes, but Dallas will go small at times, and I think it will prove effective, which will cause Kidd to go small more.

At the peak of THJ playing poorly, I thought it would’ve been wise for Kidd to start giving Hardy and O-Max more minutes. I still feel this way, the Mavs future will be brighter if Kidd just trust O-Max
The team is doing well, Omax is developing well, so for me this looks like the right move for now. Hardy is not as good as THJ at the moment, and I'm glad Kidd has not elevated him over Hardaway.

Kawhi had to go against DFS, Luka was defended by 6'1 Beverly and Rondo, as well as Reggie Jackson. He had a super easy role.

I dont care how healthy Kawhi is he can't stop Luka. At only19/20 years old Luka dropped almost 50 on kawhi and PG. He has gotten way better and PG/Kawhi are 3 Years older. We didnt have Kyrie Gafford Lively or PJ. The clippers dont have Montrez, Reggie Jackson and Batum.
When kawhi guards Luka, Luke is 35% from the field. When Luka guards Kawhi, Kawhi is 51% from the field. The mavs are a new, way better team. But clippers are a lot more deep now
