  • It’s Filipino American History Month! 🇵🇭
In our first ever "podcast" episode 🤩🎙️, Michelle and I wanted to have a real talk about what it's like to be first generation Asian Americans. Although both of our parents are Asian immigrants, we grew up completely different so this was a fun way to get to know each other even more.
We discuss cultural expectations, the strict "no dating" rule, curfew, academic achievements, coming out and wayyy more funny topics like cultural superstitions (i.e., spirits 👻).
Let us know if you enjoyed this episode and what other podcast content you'd like for us to discuss next in the comments below! 😁🫶🏼

I love this so much! Absolutely. I’m not a parent yet, but I completely understand the love and drive to have your child succeed no matter what. Parents just want what’s best for their child (good parents at least 😉).

@@SwaggyEsq Hearing about what it's like growing up in an Asian household really interested me. I'm white and learning about the differences growing up how you both did as compared to mine really had wrapped up in it. Michelle talking about her mom leaving In n out by the door had me laughing. It was really great just learning a little about the different cultures. You two have such a great dynamic and are a joy to watch

Giving offerings to ghosts in a flat/house is also common in Chinese culture. And some ppl monthly give offerings to the god of the house (they believe each unit/ house has a guardian, which could be a ghost or a god)[地基主]

Hey Denise and Michelle - we really loved this video - it was very interesting and engaging at the same time -- tbh, we think that African American culture and Asian culture have a lot more in common than any of us may have thought - one great example is being respectful to your elders by using Mr, Mrs or Miss and Sir or Ma’am - also really liked the setting, it makes the viewer feel like they are there with you sitting on the opposite couch while you both chat - the editing and sound is done very well and kept our attention - keep up the good work and we will be watching more - happy for you both ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Hi Jai&Joe! Completely agree with you here that there are so many similarities between African American culture and Asian culture 🤗 we definitely have a lot of similarities especially when it comes to respecting your elders, manners, etc.
Thanks for all lovely feedback here! We want our viewers to feel as authentically here with us as possible 🙂
You already know we love y’all’s content too so keep going and will continue to support 🧡💪🏽

Hi Denise, I really enjoy your channel. I am studying to take the Maryland bar in February. I wonder if you are interested in bar exam tutoring via Zoom. I could really benefit from your expertise and experience. If not, do you know of anyone who does private tutoring to help guide students through the bar prep? Thank you.

Hi there, Nina! Really appreciate you supporting our channel 😊 As of right now, I'm not currently taking on any students for bar prep tutoring. However, I'm working on something to help bar prep students out for the future (ie., putting together outlines, study journals, calendars, etc.). Stay tuned as I'm hoping to roll this out within the next year! Wishing you all the best during your bar prep season in February. You got this!!
