    I was in nursing school. U can't go to school in less than a year.
    The first year is school Base and second year clinical training. Then Take the boards. A lot of people don't pass the Boards the first.

      So sorry! I don't know if this helps, but I went through this process while dealing with a terrible neck injury and non-stop chronic pain. You can literally do this in your pajamas sitting in your bed if you want. As for reading... there are some tools that you can copy text into, and have the text read to you aloud.
      And most Universities have different types of accommodations for people struggling with issues like yours. You may even be able to get approval to have someone in the room with you while you're testing so they can read the test questions to you.
      Hope this helps!

    • @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
      @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671  Před rokem +6

      There are a lot of reasons a degree is beneficial. For me, even though I'm self employed... I always have a backup plan. I've turned down many great job offers. It's nice to know that I have options. Now, this doesn't mean a degree is for everyone. My advice is... Get a degree, unless you have a better plan in place. Maybe it's to be an electrician, maybe you're starting a business... But if you don't have a better plan in place, a Degree is always better than doing nothing.
      Lot's of Entrepreneurs have degrees. And it does help knowing that you have that to lean on if things don't work out as planned.
      But reality is, if you have a plan in place for your career that doesn't require a degree, then it isn't necessary.
      I'm definitely not the type that thinks my way is the best way for everyone. We're all different. We all have different goals and dreams. Just make sure you're actively pursuing what will allow you to reach your goals. No plan is always a bad plan.
      Hope this helps.

      What I know worked for my friends (take this with a grain of salt) is doing their CBE credits with a Uni WHILE doing at least some of the lab based courses at the local Community College in 1 or 2 quarters. While it technically sucked to be enrolled in two higher Ed. Institutions at the same time, it fulfilled the lab requirements they needed.
      For practicums, the local Uni that accepted them as nursing students made them attend Theory of Nursing courses at that campus, but everything else had already been tested out of or fulfilled in person at the Community College or with CBE credit which was cheaper, reputable, compared to third party testing, and closer to their area than the Uni. It means I know several nurses who (weirdly) got a degree in a BSN in two years total. What also helped is that they were qualified as an EMT Advanced (the under ranking in practicums to a Paramedic) and a Medical Assistant respectively (who does more blood work and patient care/record taking than the average CNA and generally gets to float more areas of a hospital because the licensure certificate is more intensive in most states.)
      That or others who I know got an ADN (Associate of Nursing Science) degree and then tested out of the BSN clinical care principles (other than a refresher course to ensure everyone was on the same page, 3 credits instead of 12 or more for most incoming B.S of Nursing grads) , did more hands on work in lab courses (think 3rd level cycle 2000, courses in most colleges) to get the rest of the BSN handled, depending on the state. The degree got them a massive pay bump and depending on the state you worked in, allowed their degree to be paid for by a combination of state and employer based incentives for workforce development, effectively meaning their degree was free.

  • @404TRUCKERTV
    @404TRUCKERTV Před 2 lety +14

    I attempted this as well. What I found is that some of these programs have boards you have to pass like accounting to be a CPA, BSN for nursing and Education for teaching have a max pass or fail course limit. I know for sure the lower 60 credits, 1000 to 2000 course work can be tested out but all the upper 3000 major classes must be taken because you have to submit your transcripts and the state boards won't certify you and accept your pass or fail CLEP credits. All the others you mention have no boards which are just fine testing out. At minimum it will take 2yrs 0 to Bachelors.

    • @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
      @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671  Před 2 lety +8

      Great comment. Always look at your state licensure requirements for whatever job you're trying to get.
      This is one of the reasons I always recommend Testing Out through highly accredited Universities instead of trying to CLEP an entire degree. This makes it easier to meet those requirements. But, you still have to meet state requirements for licensure. Nursing is a great example. You still have to do all your clinicals to get your RN. But after that, the BSN and MSN go a lot faster.

    • @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671
      @9monthcollegegrad-ryansway671  Před 2 lety +3

      Congrats on the promotion! Business Management, HR, and Marketing Majors are all great. I would choose the major that falls in line with what you want most for your future. I'd also highly recommend asking your employer which major they prefer. If one major can get you a better promotion, that might help you decide.
      In all honesty, each of these majors are going to be nearly identical... with only a few unique classes for each major.
      Another thing to consider is... which of these fields do you enjoy the most. Management, HR, and Marketing are all great fields. If one is more enjoyable to you, you can't go wrong with that major... especially since you already have a great resume (being a COO is impressive)!
      With your experience, you can most likely get great future jobs with any of those majors.
      Hope this helps!

      Absolutely, the hardest part is getting accepted into a University as a foreign student. But there are several schools with "Competency Based Education" programs that do allow foreign students. Once you get in, the process is pretty smooth no matter where you live. Do you already have specific schools in mind?

      Yes, there are some online "Tuition Free" schools you can attend from Georgia but to be honest, I'm not a fan of these schools at all. I think the "Tuition Free" pledge is more of a marketing scheme to get people in the door. Most of them aren't actually tuition free. For example, "University of the People" which you can attend from Georgia is "Tuition Free". But they essentially let you take the classes for free, but then charge you tuition later if you want the diploma. Which happens to be more expensive than other online schools.
      I highly recommend finding a school that offers flat rate tuition, then getting funding through grants and scholarships.
