    As a staunch air cooling fanatic the unfettered flexibility of the NR200 is why I ended up returning my Meshlicious. The Gen 4 GPU riser also more than doubled the cost of the Meshlicious over the NR200. At the end of the day the NR200 is essentially a more affordable and widely available Ncase M1 which alone can be attributed to why I chose it.

      Update: I tend to tinker with my builds so I decided to swap to the NR200p (white w/glass). I prefer the horizontal layout, although the Meshy has a smaller footprint if your desk calls for that. The cooling is better with my new nh-u12a setup. With the option for air cooling this case has a lot more options. I found cable managing easier in with the NR200p with less AIO cables. Also I having the gpu ports in the back is easier. Overall both fantastic ITX cases. Pick whatever one fits the hardware you want and/or fits your aesthetic. Theres also the updated NZXT H1, Lian Li Q58, and Slate Case AQ that look intriguing. Personally, I'll stick with the NR200p until an ITX I feel deserves a custom loop hits the market (Cooler master please release a case only version of the Nr200p MAX.)

    Have enjoyed your various videos on these cases. Very informative. Do you think either case has the capacity in terms of cooling for hardware in the next few years? It is likely that next gen CPUs and GPUs will have significantly higher power draw.

    • @MachinesMore
      @MachinesMore  Před 3 lety +12

      Hey Thuan, cheers, great question. If we kind of observe the trajectory over the last few years, I’d say 2 generations should be OK but I am concerned about 3 and beyond. I’m not terribly concerned about CPU because a 240 with good fans can cool a stock i9 or Ryzen 9 now and I don’t see your average chip getting hotter than even those in the near future. That side of the house hasn’t been as big an increase, stock coolers still exist and low profile coolers should still handle your i5/Ryzen 5 level of chip. What’s likely to be a bigger issue in that arena is the quality of the cooler, especially the coldplate.
      The graphics card is what gives me a little pause- not the power draw necessarily but the size of the coolers. For the graphics card, for example the reference cards 970 was ~150W, and the 3070 is ~250W. 980 ~180W, 3080 ~320W. While a roughly 75% increase over three generations is pretty serious, and I don’t bet on that trend continuing linearly, more concerning to me and pertinent to the cases is the size of the accompanying air coolers. I don’t want to see a 4 slot card become normal like the 3+ slot card has become with the current crop. Such a card might fit the Meshlicious but in general that’s just not good for SFF and not an elegant approach. At the next level, it becomes ever possible that hybrid cards become more prevalent, and that’s where the cases hold promise. For the SSUPD you can run an air cooler on one side, and run a 240 for a GPU also on the front. If the card is thin enough, you can use a low profile air cooler with the NR200/P, vertical mount the hybrid card and that rad can go at the bottom. With a top to bottom airflow that would be viable a configuration as well. Long story short, form of the future components is what case makers will have to design around, but for 4-5 years I think things will be fine.

    NR200 Max looks like an exceedingly good deal to replace folks that once were eager to get the NZXT H1 as a full solution, except even better: A better AIO is included and a better SFX PSU is also included while hitting a similar price point. Let's just hope Coolermaster doesn't suffers the same fate with their now mandatory raiser cable on the NR200 Max.
    Also I've seen a lot of the lesser known brands popular on Amazon and Aliexpress create a lot of matx SFF cases now and I was kind of expecting Coolermaster to create an matx version of the NR200 but that's still not here, hopefully one day since importing those other cases is exceedingly difficult, costly and slow.

      Yes, it’s not special technology on the included cable, but the included one is already folded over, and, while I’m sure you could fold an off the shelf one, if it breaks or stops working, not sure if there would be a valid warranty claim, as opposed to the out of box one. One additional thing is that some cables are better than others, some 3.0 cables can actually run at 4.0 speeds.

    Even though the NR200P lost in footprint by two points due to its larger size. These scores do not account for the purpose of SFF the fact that it is small. yeah the NR200P supports a full size hard drive or more fans but is that really what someone wants when buying SFF. The NR200P is one of the largest SFF cases on the market, I believe the meshlicious should have received a 10 for footprint and the NR200P should have received a 5. I have both of these cases and I really like them both but I just feel like the NR200P is like dipping your toe into the world of SFF. Also, Going SFF also means you lose some compatibility, but you trade that for a smaller footprint, so I believe the meshlicious is undervalued for everything it offers for only 14.7L.

Meshlicious is the only case that supports 280mm rad, ATX PSU and mainstream 3-slot GPUs altogether among current sub-20L SFF cases. NR200 families can store more storages and longer GPUs, but I regretted going for NR200 and expensive V850 SFX and suffered with the PSU fan noises that drove me crazy.
