If I have a Salus smart button (which I think is zigbee) and a wifi-based heater which works with Tuya, would I be able to get them connected through this?
I'm sorta stuck on the first step. Running HA with virtualbox on a mac. The dongle isn't being recognized by HA. I don't even know if the mac is registering it
Open the VMM manager, right click your VM, select Edit. Then go to the tab after network, (not sure about its name in english), and enable the stick under USB settings.
@@SmartHomeAddict Spoke to Sonoff and they were very helpful. They suggested using dmesg to monitor USB detection and that showed it was being blocked by apparmor. I'd installed HA as a snap and forgot that snaps disable access to USB by default. Needed to enable it with: snap connect home-assistant-snap:raw-usb.
A Zigbee2MQTT version of this video is in production and will be released soon!

Also what's the range like on this? Salus system couldn't even reach the attic from the ground floor (typical Victorian 2 storey house)

Running Homeassistant in a VM on Synology NAS... dongle is not auto-detected? Any ideas?
Not at this point, but I will be exploring installation in Synology VMM so will attempt to investigate and cover this soon.
do you have a solution yet ?

Dongle was briefly detected. HA gave an error. Now it's not showing at all. Running on Ubuntu 22.04. How do you install the dongle?
Have you done an lsusb command to check if it's still detected, and if it's potentially now on another port?
