I had read before that, as long as they careful what they say, Film makers are surprisingly welcome in North Korea. Due in part to one of leaders being a filmmaker themselves. On this show there are a couple of chaperones. The woman must be nicest and friendliest in the Country, the show is worth watching just to see her interactions with Michael! Well worth watching this program if you get a chance.
Certainly looking forward to this two-part series. I just hope that it isn't a puff piece for North Korea where Michael is shown only what the government there wants him to see. All tourists and foreign visitors are heavily chaperoned so it makes it hard to do an objective piece. But I have high-hopes we'll see aspects of North Korea that we haven't seen before.

Steve A you don't seem to realise who Michael Palin is. Apart from being a member of the Monty Python team, Michael has travelled the world making highly entertaining and informative TV series since the late 1980's. He's visited just about every corner of the Earth. Consequently your statement that he's ignorant "on anything foreign" doesn't really hold up. Some of his series include 'Around the World in 80 Days', 'Pole to Pole' 'Sahara', 'Brasil', 'Himalaya'.

Why do journalists always ask their N. Korean guides and minders questions that are likely to get the minders and their families jailed or killed if they answer them wrong? It makes me crazy. He calls his female guide a friend but then puts her in terrible danger.
