He stayed in this exact hotel and while there he was framed for ripping a Jim Jung un poster off the wall,was arrested and held in a camp for a whole year. This was the most surprising thing to hear for me as well. If that's where you put all your tourists and constantly try to show the World how great your country is....why don't you actually make the Hotel amazing lmao. It's not like they lack the money, they keep investing into vanity projects and their military like crazy. Pro tip: Stay out of counties ruled by dictators. There are restrictions in place prohibiting travel from the US to North Korea for most citizens. I'm sure there are other locales with similar warnings/restrictions for very good reasons.

Otto went to a hotel's floor that you are not allowed to enter and he stole a propaganda poster from there as a cool souvenire. At the airport just as he was about to leave two guards took him away and sentenced him to 10 or 15 years of hard labor. The president of the US had made a deal with the North korean government and let him go but he was in a coma because of the torturing and beating he faced in the concentration camp. He was taken back to the United States but 5 days later he died. A very sad story, the guy seemed like a really cool guy. I would have been his friend

Honestly the Yangakkdo is super fun. I got super drunk and sang Barbie Girl at the karaoke bar. The TV has BBC News and the local TV station if I remember correctly. Was kinda hilarious watching a BBC panel discussion on NK's nukes in a room overlooking the Taedong River. So quirky and weird, was honestly a great time.
I have been to north Korea and there are several errors. The beds are fine and the food options are quite extensive. You can't leave the hotel grounds but you are free to step outside. Probably not a good idea to wander Pyongyang by yourself anyway.
It simply isnt possible, 90 years of NK propaganda on their citizens is simply impossible to overwrite unless the whole country is evacuated and sent literally everywhere else to live among the world

I don't think anyone would call it a vacation. But it would be a fascinating culture and educational experience for people who are interested in a unique travel experience. There just is nowhere in the work like it.
I went in 2015 and stayed in this hotel. Was a great experience and would do it again. Was very educational and learned about a different reality of life and the fact that we take so many things for granted. I went by train from Beijing and flew back from Pyongyang.
Tip: they have cameras and recordings everywhere even in the bathrooms. Which is why people from there say that they feel as if they are always being watched because they have no clue about newer or even some old technology their country hides from them.

If that's where you put all your tourists and constantly try to show the World how great your country is....why don't you actually make the Hotel amazing lmao. It's not like they lack the money, they keep investing into vanity projects and their military like crazy. There are restrictions in place prohibiting travel from the US to North Korea for most citizens. I'm sure there are other locales with similar warnings/restrictions for very good reasons.
It's not prohibited its just really difficult. It requires you to write a formal request to the U.S government to even be considered for permission.

The video with the guy being arrested is about an american student that went on a trip to north korea, he was called Otto Warmbier. Otto went to a hotel's floor that you are not allowed to enter and he stole a propaganda poster from there as a cool souvenire. At the airport just as he was about to leave two guards took him away and sentenced him to 10 or 15 years of hard labor. The president of the US had made a deal with the North korean government and let him go but he was in a coma because of the torturing and beating he faced in the concentration camp. He was taken back to the United States but 5 days later he died. A very sad story, the guy seemed like a really cool guy. I would have been his friend

North Koreans have been heard of torturing foreigners specifically. Otto was the perfect example: When he was eventually released his parents noted he had many marks on his body that didn't exist beforehand of course, on cue the North Korean government denied that.

Honestly the Yangakkdo is super fun. I got super drunk and sang Barbie Girl at the karaoke bar. The TV has BBC News and the local TV station if I remember correctly. Was kinda hilarious watching a BBC panel discussion on NK's nukes in a room overlooking the Taedong River. So quirky and weird, was honestly a great time.
I have been to north Korea and there are several errors. The beds are fine and the food options are quite extensive. You can't leave the hotel grounds but you are free to step outside. Probably not a good idea to wander Pyongyang by yourself anyway.

I went in 2015 and stayed in this hotel. Was a great experience and would do it again. Was very educational and learned about a different reality of life and the fact that we take so many things for granted.
I went by train from Beijing and flew back from Pyongyang.
Tip: they have cameras and recordings everywhere even in the bathrooms. Which is why people from there say that they feel as if they are always being watched because they have no clue about newer or even some old technology their country hides from them.
