  • We learn about horizontal note changing and vertical note changing.
    Horizontal note changing is lengthening the tube, literally changing the fundamental pitch.
    Vertical note changing is changing air speed and embouchure (a little) to achieve a different harmonic based on the fundamental pitch, which in brass we just call a partial.
    Fun fact, the actual fundamental (called pedal), is much lower than what you think the lowest note you can actually play. (It is still playable though; I play it once or twice in Trombone Lesson #1.9).
