I've just bought a Taycan GTS, had minor front end damage, bumper only, no structural damage, 11 months old and I've paid just over 55% of the ticket price...and it's well spec'd. Crazy buyers market right now. Great car James, an absolute weapon
The Taycan is a tough sell currently with many dealers having plenty of used and new stock. If it was my money, it would be a GT product purely to protect my residual value. But I'm looking forward to the content from this particular car James. Great spec and that pan roof is incredible.
The tax advantages of an EV significantly makeup for any diminished value.
@@aggiewoodie that’s my point really, if it was ‘my’ money it would be a GT3 for sure. And seeing I don’t own my own business, an EV would be a depreciating cash cow for sure. I don’t hate EVs, but the tax incentives are what are pushing them. I’m wondering what happens to sales why the subsidies and tax incentives slowly fizzle out.
But it’s a no brainer if you run your own business and VAT registered

I don't think a Taycan here or a Taycan there matters when he's got a 991.2 GT3, a 992 GT3 and a GT3 RS coming.. :) James is the perfect GT Porsche customer, keeps the cars and uses them!

Congrats and excellent Stormtrooper spec! I get about 235 miles in winter and 295 miles in summer per charge on my Taycan Cross Turismo 4. Hopefully you do as well in the Sport Turismo GTS. Enjoy it!

You don’t buy a £110,000 car to “save your pocket”, unless the incentives provide a greater return than the initial cost of the car, which they don’t.
Yes, some Porsches can significantly help your pocket (992.2 GT3/RS), if you secured a pre-order and are willing to sell, but the Taycan isn’t one of them.

Taycan is ridiculous. That car is the reason I bought my Corvette. Naturally aspirated fire breathing combustion cars don’t have a lot of time left. My friend and I test drove one at the launch event and both thought, “this is the end.” It’s just so good. Porsche really cracked the code with electric. It’s the first one to me that felt special, like a real car. I’ll still keep my v8 and flat six though lol.

Nice spec. My mate has a Taycan and they drive great but a lot of the tax benefit is going to eroded by their dire residual value. Be interesting to hear how much discount you got off the list price as all the OPC's have loads of both new and used in stock. Good luck with the sub 200 mile range usable range. I'll stick to my Panamera.

Porsche have been pushing one of these on me for ages now. Having already owned and sold an EV I won’t touch one until range dramatically improves and charging infrastructure is doubled

you can pick one up for a fiver pretty much, they are overstocked and customers dont like them so are bringing them back in droves (mainly cos they dont work). dont be a fool. get a 20 year old estate, its better for the environment and people wont think youre a tool!

I’ve been an EV owner since 2016. Not to save the planet or to save money. They’re just damn fun to drive. From the Tesla Model S P100D to the Taycan Turbo, these cars are just fun. It’s different than a GT car for example, but still fun nonetheless…

It’s the best driving Porsche ever. Had one when they came out in 2020. Problem was battery degradation and after 1,5 yr it left me stranded in the middle of the road atop a mountain in a blizzard. Sold it after 2 months of repairs for a Cayenne without an extension cord. Would like another one though.

@@HondaExige1oh yes. Way better. And if you give it some thought you’ll probably see why I say so. Especially if you have driven a Taycan over an extended period of time. And yes, I’ve owned 11 911s over the last decade and love the cars as much as anyone, but the Taycan is a much less compromised and better drive, not to mention more efficient, and not only in the frugal sense of the word. On track though, the 911 is a better car, but that alone doesn’t make it a better driving car.

The next Gen GT cars may be hybrid or full EV, but that doesn’t necessarily mean heavy. Porsche is partnered with battery innovator, QuantumScape. They are doing ground breaking work with new solid state batteries significantly lighter than traditional lithium ion. Tesla has battery packs weighing 500kg! In comparison, the solid state battery will be 80% lighter.
This was also a very polished video. The Taycan GTS is a very complete package.
