Honestly, the quality hasn't dropped one bit. Respect for keeping up with the upload with everything you are going through
I really appreciate that. ❤️
Would also highly recommend the Doomo Meter D as someone who has owned both, unless you are someone that likes the digital screen. One downside of the Keks that I don't see discussed is that there are SO many shutter speeds/etc in there that it slows the experience down for film cameras that do not have most of the shutter speeds (as you see around 2:24 where Matt needs to click like 9 times just to go from a reading at 5.6 to f/2) Would be great to see keks release some kind of optional firmware or menu setting on the device to allow you to only select shutter speeds available on your camera so you don't have to click 10-15 times when going from a bright scene to a dark scene. I found while using this I ended up just guessing my exposure most of the time as I would lose the shot otherwise if I took the time to cycle through all the meter settings if I walked around a corner from a bright exposure to a darker one.
props to whoever edited and shot this video. so good.
Young Nathan filmed it, I edited it! Thank you!
@@mattdayphoto I agree. This was a banger.
@@Stockezy Thank you, brother!
@@mattdayphoto video is 🔥🔥🔥. do you have a studio tour? What cam do you record with?
I love your "I don't need this sh*t but you might" videos.
This, the tiny enlarger, the 35mm film carrier.
This shoukd just be its own series. Haha.
Appreciate you man, love when a new video pops up from you. Props for holding up this quality with what you’re going through.
We will always be here Matt! When you talk we listen 👍🏼 take care pal, love the book btw so happy when that arrived at my door
Always a pleasure watching your videos. I have a 1 year old and a 5 year old, I have absolutely no time to do any of my hobbies not to mention making videos of this quality. Big props to you.
Thanks Matt, I was looking at this products a couple days back and now just ran across you vid. Thanks for the review. This will be a good tool for checking the meter quality on vintage cameras to check for functionality. I like the cleanliness of this one over the reveni labs meter
Thanks to you Matt. I always like watching your videos.
Great video as always Matt! I have this light meter and would recommend it in a heartbeat! Great review! :)
I tried this meter along with three others. I chose Voigtlander VC Speed Meter II. Much smaller, feels great and functions very good. I bought both silver and black.
always a pleasure watching your videos Matt… if u need time take it… i’ll get that notification when a new video is up 🙌🏻🙌🏻
Speedy recovery Matt!
Would highly recommend it, especially for those looking to build up reps with sunny 16 without completely burning rolls in the process
I was looking into one of these a while back for my Canon P and Mamiya M645, and now I'm convinced!!!!!
Always enjoy your videos 🙌🏻
Thank you!
Nice video and this KEKS is just perfect for my M3 when metering is not obvious. Thanks so much and I quickly found a listing on eBay doing free shipping to UK as KEKS UK distributor don't have it on their website.
Really impressed with Friend of Mine now sitting in pride of place on my coffee table for when I have a few minutes to sit and see Chillicothe through your eyes 👍So grateful at how you keep posting and you have a lot of people out here who really do have your back and wish you and your family only the best, and always have a better Day when Matt Day has another video to share (couldn't help pun) 🙂
Hi,
Hope this comment finds you well, can I ask what distributor you used? Thanks
Its nice to see you using the 50mm summicron on your m6. For a long time it was my only lens.
I was using my kek meter with my fuji gw680 the other week and was pretty iffy with the numbers it was giving me but seeing how good matt's photos came out but I think i can totally trust those shots now
I use one KEKS for my M2 and this thing is good the battery life is very good . It uses the battery only when you press the light metering button.
Video colours look nice! Interesting that your reference is the M6 and you rate the external meter ‘spot on’ or ‘half a stop off’. Where it could be the other way around as well. There is no way of knowing.. Regards from Holland, where the spring light is just right, and blue skies without contrails. Probably the only thing we’re going to miss when things are back to how it used to be.
Great video here mate ! Keep up the great work! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
I was waiting for this.
I was on the fence before this video, but after it I had to grab one to see what all the buzz is about.
I feel like one of the reasons I don't pick up some cameras as often is because I have to carry a separate light meter
Hope you like it and it keeps you out there shooting!
Love this guy. 🤗
Love you too Matt !!!
keep going Matt!!!
I use a Leica iiif and also a Mamiya C330 Pro F with a Sekonic 858 light meter. But sometimes I wish that there was something smaller that I could use, and from watching this video I have just bought a Keks KM02. Now all I have to do is wait for it to be delivered.
Cool stuff Im wrestling if I should get this. I have a sekonic external meter but I usually just go with sunny 16.
I bought one a few months back for $100. Now they're a more money. A very accurate meter.
I have one of these and its great. Word of caution though, it took them 3.5 months to ship mine. Lead times are very slow.
a great kek for the day
I would love to have an incident meter that was that small, with the dome facing towards the photographer so that they can snag a quick reading.
That would be rad too!
well, my yashica TLR doesn't have a hot shoe, so ;-)
Thanks for the great video, I really love the way you pick your subjects in your photos!
It would be interesting to see the KEKS accuracy compared to a meter app on a phone and the dedicated metered prism of a camera like the Pentax 67.
For whatever reason, I have never used my phone meter app, but a majority of people online think they're very decent.
been using this since i started using film and i haven't missed a shot because of bad exposure since
I purchased this meter from their web site & never received it. I emailed them 4 times & never had a response. I ended up buying the voightlander knock off & love it.
Interesting little device. I kinda wish the display was on the top though so you don’t have to bring it up high to see the exposure reading. And can still look down and that reading and adjust your cameras shutter and aperture.
You might look at the Hedeco Lime... www.hedeco.de/
It will be nice to try this with the Hasselblad
Now I know what I’ll be buying to toss on the Canon P 👌🏼
So well timed! I just got my mine from Brooklyn Film Camera, and has be so nice on my M2. For me though the only thing I wish it had to make it absolutely perfect, is if had a dip switch inside to switch from 1/3 stop increments to full stops.
That would be a really nice touch!
Looks like a solid little device. Sadly it doesn't look like it's available in the UK yet :(
I can’t help but think you and Mac Miller look so much alike 😭💔
Matt do you think this thing mounted sideways on a TLR would be accurate? Or does the operation require it to be mounted horizontal (guessing it depends on what exactly the field of view on the spot meter is and whether it's circular)? TLR hotshoes are obviously not directly over the lens but on the side of the camera.
Did you test it on low light situations?
Can this be used with a digital leica m240 camera to achieve the correct settings
Would this fit the hasselblad 500c
Cute and informative
Is this better than Voigtlander VC Meter II Black?
Looking for this small thing! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
KEKW meter, nice.
Top KEKS
Why do you need an external meter if your M6 already has a built-in one?
Oh no! Those evil curtain rods… The travails of owning a home. I can relate.
A glass of Scotch...a Matt Day video.....my day is complete!...🇬🇧🌈😘📸
Cheers! 🥃
Can I use it for my dslr..? 🤪
What's up with this being identical to the E & M EM-01? Did keks just reband it?
Top kek.
Definitely will look into buying one of these! If you don’t mind me asking, what film stock are you using?
Looks like it was HP5
Ilford HP5!
Nice quality Matt. How you scan your 35mm film?
Thank you! Everything is being scanned on a Nikon Coolscan 8000.
@@mattdayphoto oh that's why ;) good work
I wouldn't mind having something mounted to my yashica d... interesting.
Not sure how they came up with the name for the lightmeter, but in croatian language keks means a cookie 😄
And it's pronounced just like you pronounce it in the video 😁
It's cookie in german too haha, although pronounced as 'cakes'
In England - this is the slang name for male underwear - get your Keks on - keep your keks on - and since it is a shit thing - that fits perfectly
The only problem i have is which color i should get. I both have black and silver cameras
I think black accessories and lenses look good on both, but silver accessories and lenses only look good on silver. Haha. That’s my personal taste anyway.
I wonder how long the battery life is before you’d need to buy a whole new meter? assuming batteries aren’t replaceable..
You charge this with a cable - no batteries
@@AS-rp7qd yep, but you’re charging a battery built into the light meter. So wondered how long it’s life is before replacing it.
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
And I thought you were gonna say you fell off your skateboard! 🤦🏻♂️😂
I find the keks meter much less useful than the Reveni meter. The readout is incredibly small and very hard to read in bright light. I had to build a shade so that I can see the readouts in bright sun. I don't have this same problem with the two reveni meters that I have (their readout is bigger). The "smart" readout does nothing to really improve this. I use it only because at over $100 it is too much money to throw away. I would, however, not recommend this meter to anyone. Perhaps the EM02 is better in this regard.
Ouch ....
did they stop producing this?
Test it at night haha
M4 prices to the MOOOOON
also would love to see a video comparing Keks and Voigtlander VC II
Matt 1 - Book shelf 0
$108????
just use your phone
Save your money. Use your phone. And avoid these paid videos popping up everywhere.
The “paid promotion” disclaimer is for Squarespace, not from KEKS. We’re required to include the disclaimer on sponsored videos. KEKS didn’t pay me and I’m giving the meter away on Instagram for free. GREAT detective work though.
@@mattdayphoto As if you’d tell the truth.
top kek
Always waiting for your new video. Take care, Matt!
