I'm thinking "Hey Jude" or "I wanna hold your hand" so let's go with Hey Jude. I win.. for two reasons...one, Paul featured singer he said, meaning out front primary singer of a song. I wanna hold your hand was sung by both Paul and John, mostly John I think. So that leaves Hey Jude. two, it was one of the two or three Beatles 45's we had among the 100's of other 45's that my sister had played over and over and over the day she brought it home. Family had lots of 45's and albums growing up.
Yep! I just watched the episode of "Jeeves & Wooster" where Hugh Laurie is trying to figure out the correct syncopation to that song. Also, I love "Young Frankenstein"!
Literally the first thing I thought and I feel real bad about that because I’m sure she’s a real lovely lady, but that deep frown and sadly the head tremor
used to watch this show when i stayed home sick from school in the 80s. don't know why. didn't know a single song they were talking about. and can't believe this was aired in the 80s since every single thing about it screams 1970s.
Here's the best clip from a mid-1984 episode of the American game show Name That Tune (during the syndicated version titled as "$100,000 Name That Tune"). 🇺🇸 🇺🇸
3:50 She looks like Hector Salamanca right before he kills Gus. I was waiting for her to start hitting the buzzer over and over and they all just explode.
I could've named that first tune in zero notes! The mention of "Young Frankenstein" gave it away. I could've named that second tune in one note, seriously. I would've guessed Stardust on the third song, but I would've been wrong, knowing that that song was written by Hoagy Carmichael. Personally, the first three notes didn't sound like The Lady Is A Tramp to me, at least not at first until I heard the rest of it. I could've named that fourth tune in zero notes! The late and great Annette Funicello (She had a relationship with Paul Anka at the time he wrote this love song to her.) and "canine" were the dead giveaways. Forgive me if it seems like I'm bragging, but I'm just telling the truth. By the way, Sandy (with her unintentional mannerisms) and Wass? were hilarious. If they had kept this up, they would've had a long-running sitcom in syndication.
@@wwetnabamafan194 There was one time on this version where a male contestant was indeed able to name more than just one tune in zero notes. I'm not making this up.
Me too. Just finished watching Three's Company, Season 1 - Episode 2. Mr. Roper told Mrs. Roper he wanted to go home and watch Name that Tune. Ha Ha Ha!
It was the second episode of the regular season (after the Super Champs' Tournament had been completed). The next day I found out about the show by twiddling the dial on the TV set and became a fervent viewer the rest of the way.
@Darlene Guice And what part of my comment was bigotry? In which way am I being intolerant of another's beliefs or opinions? I wonder if you understood the reason for the comment at all....? Perhaps, perhaps not. I can't tell. I also wonder if you understand the word bigot? It doesn't seem so. Perhaps you can enlighten me?

Growing up in the 80s and 90s with this show.Love it!
I love the way the contestants are so fierce with each other. The game would be boring if they just bid in a normal tone.
I love the respect from everyone on this show back then.
That's true. Game shows these days, they're all spitting on each other.
He won good prizes to not be the winner!
I remember watching this when I was a kid 🤗

Dem dry bones. A classic.

Except Taco's Ritz was a hit in SUmmer-Fall 1983, not 1984. And this show was taped and aired a year or so after the song was a hit.
Acho que lá não tinha o quadro da cabine musical.
Só tinha na versão brasileira
man i wish they had a name that tune show out now. or at least from the 70's to current. i'd be getting me that $100,000 for sure... lol.

...and that's the name of THAT tune
So why or what makes this the "best" ever? Looks like a normal episode to me.
+jamest6474 it was a good trick that made us both watch this one
Exactly. I'm not impressed, especially since I knew the one she missed (theme from "I Love Lucy") and the one she passed ("O Susannah!").
You must be one of them dumb-asses.
I think it was the contestants themselves. They way they played it was textbook.
Worst episode ever.
Sandy's been taking intimidating lessons from sweet Alfred lol
In the final round the first tune was " Oh Susanna" Pretty sure ..:>)
Yes it was.

I would love to know what happened to the contestants in the years after the show. Wash and Sandy are larger than life.
Taco covered "Puttin' On The Ritz" in 1982, not 1984.
Young Frankenstein came out in 1984
No, it came out in 1974:

David Turner No, it was 1982:
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puttin%27_On_the_Ritz#Taco_cover
It peaked here in the US in late summer/early fall of 1983
WARDMAN3 As opposed to '1984.' LOL
