- Unboxing the Triton TRA001 3hp router and installing it in a table is super simple. I had to do a little modification to mate with my router table dust system, but it worked out perfectly.

Thanks for the excellent presentation and review on the Triton router. You have great ideas! Keep up the good work.
Thank you for watching & the kind words.
I just ordered one and it got here yesterday. Waiting on Kreg plate to arrive. Can’t wait to get setup and using it. Good video. I’m clicking the subscribe button
Thank you for watching. For the money, it's a very good router and i think you'll like it.
Thank you. Very informative and well presented video, keep up the great work.
Thank you for watching and for the kind words. This router has turned out to be quite a nice addition to the shop.
I epoxied a 1 inch section of 3/4 in. PVC pipe to the surrounding of the small nub that the height adjustment crank connects to to make it easier to get the end of the crank seated.
Tgat sounds like a good idea.
OK I know, I am an idiot. I just found that little sliding door over the switch and everything worked perfectly, of course. God bless y’all.
It's not like you are the only one. All owners have done that before. I'm glad it worked out.
Hi thanks for the very informative video. When you set the router up like this do you leave the plunge lock off or do you have to get underneath and lock it up after every setting?
It has lockable indents that work well for most things, but I do occasionally need it locked especially if I'm making a precise cut..
I like the dust shroud adapter for the router table application, where did you get that part? I'm planning on getting this soon and liked that idea better than building an encloser for the router. Also, do you find you use the back side of your table saw fence or have you done anything on the back side as a fence in your setup?
Milescraft makes them now. Www.woodworkingshop.com and search router dust and it should come up.
@@ChristcrossCraftsfound that product, sweet!
Do you have to take the spring out for the crank up to work?
If mounted in a table yes. Otherwise it will have an aggressive movement when you make adjustmenrs.
Bought this I don’t know, 2 years ago. Cannot get it to raise up high enough to get the collet above the table.
Tried all the “features”, took the spring out still nothing. I actually don’t much use it. It’s actually brand new sitting in the table.
You have to push the switch to off. It has a safety feature that won't allow the router to rise all the way up unless the switch is off and the little window is closed.
Also, check the depth stop. I've done that before and forgot to loosen the depth stop knob.
Do you need to engage the plunge lock lever when mounted to the table or can I just leave it off once I set my bit height? Just mounted this into my kreg table. the directions suck
I usually set it anyway. There are some adjustments where the bit falls between indents on the knob. These definitely should be locked to prevent movement.
" 3-2-1" 😂
I have the same one on the way.
I intend to create a router plate that i can eaily pull out of the table and onto my flattening sled. I havent seen anyone do it so far.
They all will come out. Most are held in with screws so there's no movement. Good idea making the plate fit your sled.
At about 10:30', you had a circular closeup (?) while you were winding the router up and down. What did the closeup show, and was there anything on the Triton that made winding easy? Thanks
The triton has an above table adjustment rod that allows for easy fine tuning. Once set, you do need to lock the colum so no movement occurs.
From below, there's a quick knob for fast adjustment up and down.
If the router is used by hand, both the quick adjustment and fine tuning are still functional.
Many thanks for the reply. I will give it a try.
In order to make the above table height adjustment, does the button on the handle have to be pushed in?
No. You remove the spring from the column and it easily adjusts.
Thank you Sir. Are you still happy with your purchase? @@ChristcrossCrafts
How do i find one of the crank wrenches? I cant find one online or does it come with it?
It comes with it and a few other accessories.
Nooice!
It's a hefty router with lots of features. Thanks for watching.
Could you tell me what and where you got the blue dust shroud for the router?
It's part of a kit. Milescraft makes it now. It has the shroud and the hoses. I have a video talking about it on my channel.
Here's a link czcams.com/video/poysOOw8Ie8/video.html
In the video at 1:09 in the router plate I see a red ring and bushing guide that were not in the plate before this. Did they come with the plate?
They are part of the dust collection boot. They affix under the plate between the bit and plate. This sucks dust away that enters the collet area.
I thought more on your comment and wanted to update my statement. The red ring and gray center piece are part of the plate. The red is a large ring and the gray will fit the standard Porter-cable style template guides. Both are just reducer bushings to decrease the hole size for different bits.
@@ChristcrossCrafts Thanks for the info. I have a router table and needed to replace the Porter Cable 690 motor (not enough power) in my Incra Mast R Lift II. I could not use the Triton in the lift and really did not want to give up the lift (it was a bit expensive). I ordered a Bora Portamate PM254 Router Motor and just finished installing it. I made a test cut and so far I'm super pleased with it. Tomorrow I will do more testing.
Wanted to know if the CNC router is working okay
I upgraded to the elite 8 and haven't had a chance to finish putting it together and dialing it in.
Do you find that at low-mid power settings the router kinda surges?
I haven't had that issue with mine. So far it has performed well. I haven't had any really big bits in there - like a door panel bit, to need to use 1 or 2, but have used #3 up with no issues.
My only complaint so far is the hole size of the metal housing. It will not accept standard 3" door panel bits, which is partly why I haven't used it for that.
@@ChristcrossCrafts Thanks for the reply. It might just be mine. It still works ok but when I first got it I thought "That can't be right". Contacted the suppler but by the time I pay for postage to return it to them for checking it wasn't worth it. I'll use it for as long as it lasts.
Where can I buy a suction adapter?
If you are referring to the piece underneath the plate that mounts between the router and the plate, it comes with the router table kit. www.woodworkingshop.com/product/ws15010/
Thank you, greetings from the Czech Republic
can i run it on 120 or 240 volts
This router is 120 only. They may offer a European version but not in the US
2 years on whats your thoughts on the Triton router ?
For the money, a solid option that allows you not to have to purchase a lift.
When I turn the adjustment knob or try with the crank nothing moves. Any ideas what could be wrong. Thank you.
Is the lever lock tightened that locks the router in place along the two bars? That will prevent it from adjusting.
@@ChristcrossCrafts No it is not locked. The orange button is pushed in on the knob. Should that be out and how do I do that. Sorry to bother you.
@@kevinrecoskie519 yes... that's it. The button disengages the gears that contact the rack & pinion style system.
@@ChristcrossCrafts Had to take the motor off the router the button was stuck in the in position.
@@kevinrecoskie519 mine did that and I pressed the button again and pulled the orange ring. That fixed it.
Ben crown has changed
This Router is a fantastic tool, however the collet system sucks. Replace it with a ER16 collet System and you will never look back.
I'm hoping to upgrade someday. I agree by the way.
You should have spent the money on a Bosch instead of that Junk orange router.
I've not had any issues with it and have had it for years. I agree, Bosch is a solid router
