- Join us as we head to Alton Towers to help give you some reassurance, confidence or just some tips on how to get on the rides. We do these videos to help plus size people enjoy days out and not have to worry, so if that's you we hope this helps as much as possible.

The two videos you’ve done for Alton towers have definitely given me a lot of confidence so thank you ❤ I myself thought I would only be able to fit in the seats with the double seatbelts but I was very surprised when I fitted in a single one so I know how you must’ve felt when you was able to fit in the single one I’m glad you had such a positive experience at Alton towers I looked forward to going again in may this year and I feel a lot more confident in going compared to previous times

What size are u if u don't mind me asking I want to go but don't know if I'm too big I'm 6'2 100+ kg wear XL/XXL
@@eesaakhtar I’m a size 22-24 I sadly had no luck in getting on any of the rides other than the rapids and a pirate themed waltzer and the haunted doll house , however I am quite big chested and have quite larger thighs and behind which makes me more elevated and less room to push the bar down and get any over head restraints over my chest

People change as do their bodies for various reasons. I hope you are never discouraged by negative comments because this is fantastic! What you guys do really helps and reassures people when taking families for days out. Watching your videos gives me the courage to go out to these places :)

Great video, I stupidly didn't realise there were so many test seats around! 😅 Defintely something to think about next time I visit! My main issue with Alton Towers rides is not so much the restraints but the moulded seats. I've put on some weight since the pandemic and its affected my thighs more than anything so it was a bit of a shock (and a wake up call) when I realised how tight the seat on Nemesis felt. Also being 5' 11 some of the rides like Wicker Man, Thirteen and the Mine Train can be a bit tricky depending if you sit with another person but its not usually a problem. I've always had positive experiences with the staff making sure I'm comfortable and one time on a Retro Squad ride, they recommended because of the lap bar that I sit by myself and it was so much more comfortable. 😊
Thanks. I understand where you are coming from with not knowing that the test seats are there beacuse some of them aren't near the ride entrance. Having slightly larger thighs and hips myself i know what you mean withthe seats being a bit tight. That's great to hear that the ride staff have been very helpful when you have visited, and i hope you have an amazing time when you go again. 😊

I thought this might help someone who is worried about not fitting on the rides, I wear a size 16-18 (uk) in leggings/ joggers etc, I went to Alton towers yesterday and here are the rides I went on
1. Thirteen (I fitted, this is just a standard lap bar and I used the trick off sitting down with the restraint and I found i fitted comfortably without it being too tight)
2. Nemesis Reborn (this has an over the shoulder restraint I fitted with a single belt but they do still have the double seat belts if needed)
3. Oblivion (this has an over the shoulder restraint I fitted with a single belt but they do still have the double seat belts if needed, on this one for some bizarre reason I fitted with a single belt but not the double belt 😂)
4. Rita (this has an over the shoulder restraint however there is no larger seats on this ride so please bare that in mind)
5. Congo river rapids (this has no restraint)
6. The blade (this just had a standard lap bar that stops when it senses where you are
7. Marauders mayhem ( this has no restraint)
8. Spinball whizzers (this has a standard lapbar however it was a lot tighter compared to thirteen)
I unfortunately didn’t have time to do wickerman however if you fit on thirteen then you should be fine I went on both last year I was about the same size
The only one I didn’t try was Galatia I tried the test seat but it wouldn’t quite close however still try the ride I just didn’t fancy queueing up knowing i might get turned away but if your not too far off then try because they can use a tool to help lock the restraint in place if needed
I hope this will help someone who is worried about not fitting on the rides, I know the feeling it can be daunting so I hope this will give someone peace of mind ❤

IME the staff are super helpful and they will give the restraint a good shove to get it to click for you.
A tip for galatica. If you pull yourself up on the bars above you as someone else pushes in you fit easier. I was told to do this by the staff on my last visit. I’m not a big person either just a little weight on me but mostly muscle.

Thanks for making the video, as a large person, I always worry more about getting on the ride than I do enjoying the preside. And weldone, I waited 1 and a half hours for galactic only to be told sorry but no. How are you on icon in Blackpool, I could get on it two years ago, on the back seats, but no go last year.
No problem. Ow no that's a shame, it's awful waiting all that time for nothing. Steph is normally alright with Icon, sometimes it can be more restrictive but she can get on it most of the time.
Genuine question - for the oblivion one, wouldn’t it be unsafe as the seatbelts are only there for extra safety and they can easily be undone while on the ride, so the restraints need to click, so is it safe or does it have risks?
Yes the seatbelts are there for extra safety but the restraint still clicks in to place as well. It doesn't matter if a plus size person or not sits in these seats as the restraint still goes to the lowest point as well as the largest point depening on the rider.

I am 5’11 95kg i’m not worried about my upper body but i have quite big legs my thighs are 28 inches in circumference would you think that I will have any issue ?
Hi, I would say that you should be fine, my thighs are 28 inch and I dont have a problem with getting onthe rides. If anything it's more just the seats themselves that can be a little tight. Hope this helps. Phoebe. 😊

It would be good fo a test seat for th13teen and smiler but because the restraint is hydraulic i dont think they can do a test seat for them unfortunately.
Hi, it would be good for people if they did have test seats for them costers, especially The Smiler. I think they can do test seats for them because Thorpe Park have test seats for Saw which is the same manufacture as The Smiler. 😊

Hi, I would say yes regarding your size, it might just be you height that prevents you from going on a couple of rides. With Thirteen and Wickerman because they have lap bars i would suggest trying to cross your legs if possible to try and get that extra space if needed, but the ride staff will help as much as they can. 😊

Hi, Steph is a size 20. I am a size 16 and also have thick thighs and hips so i understand where you are coming from. The restraints are ok, Wickerman can be a little bit tight but other than that they are fine. I would say that its mainly the seats themselves because some of them can be narrow. Hope this helps. 😊

If it helps I am 50 chest and managed mandrill in a regular seat, and vampire, Although I had to push the restraint down to clip it, and mandril I had to raise the vest to get it secure by myself.

I'm 18st they have to jump on the restraints some times on oblivion. Obviously I know they cant make the restraints bigger, the non fat people will fall out 😂.
Wish one of you were over 6 foot to help us tall people 😂
Unfortuantly we aren't 🤣. But regarding being tall, the rides that are more restrictive for taller people would be Thirteen and Wickerman mainly as they are both lap bar restraints. The Smiler and Rita might also be a bit more restrictive, but the rest of the rides I would say should be alright.
I'm 6"2 and 19 stone, I have no issues riding anything at Alton Towers, some rides are a squeeze to get clicked into the restraints. The only ride I think that's generally an issue is Spinball Whizzer which does have an upper height limit of 6"3 or 6"4. Nemesis Sub Tera is the most restrictive ride in terms of Restraints because the bars sit across everyone. They normally just move people around if there are issues with them. Rita is hard to get in and out of but once sat in it's normally fine. I don't think height is an issue as long as your are not overly large in other areas.
Lmao this would’ve been useful a week ago, my dad tried getting on wicker man and they wouldn’t let him (for the record, he isn’t obese, he’s just very big) Oh well!

It's really not rocket science. Two meals a day and get your 10000 steps in and the weight will drop off in no time.
Just stop eating so much food and go for walks more often

The hardest part about losing weight is that you can be months in of hard work and focus and you still get judged and criticised. I’m obese and run 5k daily and get heckled in the street…wtf heckle the ones eating cake not the ones actually doing something positive for change.
What a fun person you must be to be around. Had a miscarriage? Should have looked after yourself better. Been in a car crash? You should drive more carefully. Been made redundant? Should have worked harder. There is a LOT MORE to weight gain than just eating and never exercising, just as there is a LOT MORE to weight loss than simply eating less and moving more. But whatever the cause and no matter what people try to do to lose weight there will always be, without fail, the judgemental pissbuckets like yourself.
