    Well, I'm late to the party, but this was great, Josh! It was the perfect primer for me before I bust out my CosClay. I've been curious about this product for a while. Nice job all around! : )

    you can still bake clear-coated polymer clay, just turn it to around 194 farenheit and keep it there for an hour. I've gotten away with sustaining only low to moderate brain and lung damage by doing this for the last few years.

    This is wild! I watched the Sculpy 101 series and saw this little guy in passing but seeing him come to life and seeing the progression of this is just so rad. Recently discovered your channel and I am hooked. Definitely headed to Patreon my friend. KEEP. IT. UP.

    Yes indeed I do know about it and I have a bunch of it. :) I was one of the backers on the kickstarter also. :) Thanks for making another video about it. I have not seen as many videos using cosclay as I would have liked... I know.. I know... I should make a video but I am better without a camera than with one unless I am taking still shots. - Heidi

    Amazon lists several brands called Cosclay, some of which are just regular (that is, fragile) polymer clay. This makes it really hard to ensure you're ordering what you actually want.
    (It also doesn't help that Amazon insists I am searching for "cosplay".)

    Is there any clay or material out there which remain felxible but more for posing a puppet? Thanks a lot!

    • @JoshForeman
      @JoshForeman  Před 3 lety

      This is about as flexible as it gets when it comes to clay. For puppets, they are often constructed from foam, or they are made by sculpting an original shape, then making a mold and casting foam replicas. I don't have any examples of using foam, but I do show the basics of making a mold here. czcams.com/video/EEVZx673Y-c/video.html

    not sure how stacks up but sculpy offers a product called bendy I can only find in multy pack on their website but they used to offer super-flex. have you ever tested out Ultra-light? and they have a new product called souffle, and one called bake shop, I have no idea how they work but just thought id bring them up.

    • @JoshForeman
      @JoshForeman  Před 2 lety

      I tried their flexible stuff years ago and it was only slightly flexible. I haven't tried souffle yet, but I should.

    This is really late but I was wondering how good it could be for making larger jewelry pieces like neck bands and such? I’m working on a cosplay project that has one and I need something durable but can still fit on and off my neck; does anyone know if cosclay would work for that or if I should sadly stick to foam?

    • @JoshForeman
      @JoshForeman  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes, it would work. But keep in mind the weight and price will be higher.

    16:01 can you paint polymer clay before baking it with regular acrylics? Does it work?

    • @JoshForeman
      @JoshForeman  Před rokem +1

      I've never tried. I imagine some paints do better in the oven than others. You could always test it with a scrap piece.

  • @victoryahlovett2774
    @victoryahlovett2774 Před 3 lety

    I love cosclay. I have better details. No more broken fingers. Btw my art is on the kickstarter box. I also solely use genesis. Tip.. Use a household oven for better results. Toaster ovens, convection ovens, halogen ovens, etc do not hold consistent heat. The heat spikes will make cosclay not cure properly. You can get fragile pieces or even cracks. I made this mistake when curing genesis on a piece. It's best to use a second thermometer in a house oven. Cosclay is totally nontoxic so safe for same oven you cook in.

    Hi, Josh. My cosclay became EXTREMELLY sticky after conditioning by hand, to the point of being impossible to sculpt anything, it's almost like hot chewed gum. Is my first time using it since it's expensive and hard to come by where I live. Any suggestions would be of great help. Thanks.

    • @JoshForeman
      @JoshForeman  Před rokem

      You can leech it of the excess oil by making it as flat as possible and sandwiching it between paper bags or cardboard overnight. This will suck a bunch of the oil out. But I've heard that the recipe has changed over the years and I haven't used the newer stuff so I really can't guarantee anything.
