    The Tuku (Ovis canadensis), also known as the bighorn sheep is a sheep species native to North America, it is one of the only two living sheep species, one of the only two living caprine species, and one of the only five bovid species found outside the Old World, the tuku is known for its impressive horn structure, there are eight recognized tuku subspecies: the Rocky Mountain Tuku (Ovis canadensis canadensis), the †Badlands Tuku (Ovis canadensis auduboni), the Sierras Nevada Tuku (Ovis canadensis sierrae), the California Tuku (Ovis canadensis californiana), the Nelson's Tuku (Ovis canadensis nelsoni), the Mexican Tuku (Ovis canadensis mexicana), the Peninsular Tuku (Ovis canadensis cremnobates), and the Weems' Tuku (Ovis canadensis weemsi).
