- Jerry Orbach provides a tour of the Law & Order set at The Pier Silver Screen Studios (Chelsea Piers, New York).
"Law & Order is a franchise composed of several related American television series created by Dick Wolf. Originally broadcast on NBC, all of them focus on aspects of the criminal justice system. The original series, its spin-offs, a TV film, and crossover episodes with other shows amount to over 1,000 hours of programming.
The shows are interconnected through shared settings, such as Hudson University and the New York Ledger tabloid newspaper, as well as shared supporting characters, including district attorneys, psychologists, and medical examiners. Occasionally, main characters or storylines crossover between shows. Some major characters have transitioned from one show to another within the franchise.
The music, style, and credits are consistent across the series, featuring Steven Zirnkilton's voiceover in the opening and Mike Post's iconic "dun, dun" sound effect. Past episodes are syndicated on local stations and cable channels like USA Network, Bravo, TNT, WGN America, Ion Television, and AMC Networks' SundanceTV and WeTV, with some channels airing episodes up to six times a day.
In October 2012, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit showrunner/executive producer Warren Leight mentioned the potential for the franchise's future, expressing curiosity about another iteration down the line. He emphasized maintaining a high level of quality, contributing to the shows' enduring popularity in reruns.
In February 2015, NBC was reportedly interested in reviving the flagship Law & Order as a limited series. However, as of February 2016, NBC had not publicly announced any plans for a revival.
As of May 24, 2017, the Law & Order franchise has aired 1,096 original episodes." ~ wikipedia.org

This guy was the best. Played the Quintessential NY Cop. Effortless acting. You just believed him. RIP Jerry. 🙏
I've read that NYPD officers would spot Jerry on the street and yell, "hey, Briscoe- how's it goin' at the Two-Seven!" They absolutely loved this guy, and I can see why. Damn, I miss him.
Rest well, Mr. Orbach. Thank you so very much for the decades of entertainment. I'm glad to know you enjoyed making the magic happen as much as I enjoyed watching.
I love this video! The first time I hear Mr Orbach as himself and not Briscoe
You can see he absolutely loved being on the show. I spent 20 years watching the original L&O, and Lennie Briscoe was always my absolute favorite. Jerry Orbach was a treasure, and he will be sorely missed. Thank you, Mr. Orbach, for making our televisions a whole lot brighter.
So sad when one realizes how sick he was when he made this video. Such a hard working man, despite being sick. Lennie (sp) Briscoe made Law and Order for me. His wisecracks always made me snicker despite the serious subject matter on the show. Jerry Orbach always played his parts well no matter what character he played. RIP man and thanks for all the entertainment you provided us!
I am almost 72 years on our Mother Earth. Retired. Me and my second wife (of 30 years, this year) at the beginning our marriage, always made time, back then, to catch the latest Law and Order episode. No streaming then. And later we watched many of them again in syndication. I have to admit, the ones Jerry was in were my favorites. Even now, on Peacock, it is deja vu all over again. Somehow, I just can't get enough of Law and Order!
blowdollybetty????
Wow!!! How fascinating!!! Way to go Detective Briscoe!! Jerry, you sure are missed along with your amazing costars Fred Thompson and Dennis Farina!! We love ya!!
Miss Jerry so much. :(
Law & Order wasn't the same without Jerry Orbach and Detective Lennie Briscoe.
I miss Jerry. He's always seemed like a great guy. I bet they had a lot of fun on those sets. Jesse Martin is my favorite partner with Jerry too. He seems cool as well. Poor Jerry was dealing with colon cancer most of his run on that show until the end. Stuck it out like a champ.
I heard that it was a fun set. The only negative thing I heard was that Elizabeth Rohm could be difficult and somewhat adversarial. Maybe that had something to do with her leaving the show.
Jerry Orbach suffered from and died of prostate cancer, L&O wasn't the same without him.
Yeah he was great been in it from near the start 1990
I've read that Jerry and Jesse, both veterans of Broadway musicals, would sometimes sing and dance on the set. That would have been amazing.
Prostate cancer
Lennie! Loved this man's work. Jerry Orbach was a very good actor and totally convincing in his role as Detective Lennie Briscoe.
Great tour, Jerry. I'm watching you right now. L&O The Mothership still rocks!
Always loved him best with Jesse Martin. He seems like a wonderful, warm human being. Much missed.
Thank you, Mr. Orbach, lots of us really enjoyed you on L &O.
You are MISSED Jerry and THANK YOU for all of the shows and one of the GREATEST movies of all time! #RIPJERRY
Miss him so much.....brings me to tears.....jerry was the best
RIP to my favorite law and order actor. 👌
Wow this is so cool. Original Law and Order is one of the best crime shows to ever grace television. Briscoe and Green were always my favorite tv partners. Rest in peace Jerry Orbach.
I will always miss his wise cracks.
Miss this show like crazy, but I mostly miss Jerry Orbach. He was without doubt the consummate actor, and IMHO, the backbone of the show.
Wow. His one liners were so funny. At lets not forget lumiere the candle from Beauty and the Beast. Rip Jerry Orbach. You are sorely missed
I wonder how many of his one-liners were ad-libbed?
“Hey, Jerry...!” Miss this man so much...I swear when he packed up his things, and walked out of the Two-Seven for the last time he had my heart among the items he took with him in that little cardboard box. 😞💔 Rest easy, Jer, and also Fred Thompson, who Jer mentions here was the DA at the time they filmed this.
RIP Steven Hill as well
@@billobong9792Yes, absolutely…three legends gone.
I e never seen this before, this is great to see Jerry orbach behind the scenes
So nice. I love Law and Order, especially Jerry Orbach!
Very very interesting .. Love it
I can't get enough of this show +30 yrs and counting
Why can't it be possible to bring back to life the nicest people like him (tear-wetting my keyboard while typing)?
@TropicalCyclones Channel damn!
you're missed Jerry, always a class act!
Loved Jerry Orbach
RIP Jerry. Classic actor.
I wonder why when Sam Waterston's Jack McCoy was promoted to Interim D.A. and later D.A., why they took those portraits on the wall outside the D.A.'s office down?
This was the old-school detective in every department who always picked on his younger partners(Rey Curtis, specifically)because he was that grizzled old vet who's seen everything you can possibly see as a cop and more
To me, Jerry will always be Lennie Briscoe.
He was also Lumiere from Beauty and the Beast.
R.I.P Jerry Orbach You will be missed.
As someone who's a newcomer to L+O who cannot stop binge watching it right now-I do not want to see Jerry's last episode. It's gonna hit hard I know it :( . Absolute legend.
My favorite detective on the original show.
I've watched this multiple times because it feels like I get to hang out with Jerry again. Miss you, sir
JERRY been Babys Father and Lenny of course but many more of course. FUN to watch. THANKS.
RIP genius.
I miss him. I refer to "Lennie and Jesse: The Golden Years".
Both of the actors were also song-and-dance men on Broadway.... something not widely known outside of NYC.
The 1950s and 1960s Detective: Leonard Briscoe (1940-2004)
Love Law and order
This just popped up on my feed. Always fun to see a “Behind The Scenes” video.
Thanks for watching!
I though the interrogation room was part of the precinct or Epatha's office
Yeah I think they film it to make it appear within the precinct
@2:34, I could've sworn the INTERROGATION room was part of the precinct.
It is. That's just the way they built the set.
What I would have given for him to say "Be our guest... to the Law and Order set."
RIP Jerry Orbach.
No replacement for Orbach (RIP) the best in the biz for his portrayal of a NYC Detective.
I miss Jerry
@1:50, is that the same desk used by Abbie, Claire and Jamie used?
I wonder, I don’t think it was the same desk used by Robinette though
@2:36, some eps the interrogation room is in the jail.
What year was this filmed?
2004?
Was this a DVD special feature?
Yes
Oh Lenny
Him and Sam Waterston are the 2 people I would like to meet.
Hi Jerry Jesse etphea sam angie fred
