The weird thing about the photo is that Shirov seems really pissed

Move 38 was Rxb6 axb6, Alireza first captured the rook before going for the repetition.
Thank you! I spent five minutes looking at that position wondering why Alireza didn't just take the rook.
There is an error in this video. Shirov sacrificed one of his rooks in the game. In the final position, there should not be a rook on B2. Not sure where Antonio went wrong with this game...

Mmmmm, you are right. I saw your comment, then I go to the original video, and Shirov has only 1 rook on the board. It´s weird that something like this happens to agadmator.
Thanks, I was looking at the penultimate position thinking E1 is the wrong move to play but if there is no B2 rook, that makes sense.

Antonio is the only non German speaker who is able to pronounce Zwischenzug all natural like a native speaker. Respect! Definitely not an easy word. Funniest pronunciation I've heard so far was by Ben Finegold, so hilarious that I started using it as native speaker.

Dear Agadmator: what about a review of the game between Garry Kasparov and Manuel Bosboom played in 1999 in Wijk aan Zee? Outsider Bosboom won this game with the black pieces! Bosboom got a chance because Shirov had to go to the dentist.

The difference between Kh6 and Ke7 is that if you play Ke7 at the start you are not controling the d4 and opponent can play d4 to prevent knight from coming to that position, which is not the best move but is an ok move since you can always play f3 and then move the king g2 and then g3 for a better deffense or just leave the king on g2 and after if you need, run to g3, so if you play Kh6 you are controling d4 and nothing prevents you from Kf5 and everything I alreddy typed is imposibble to happen, but since of alredy played h5 it doesn't really matter, it only matters if there is no pawns on h5 controling g4

Why not rook f8 to f2 check rather than repeating?
White can still repeat king moves against rook f8 to f2 moving between 3rd and 2nd ranks. You could try rxb2 after the king goes to the 3rd rank instead of repeating checks but then that fails to rxb7 rxb7. Leaving the white queen vs 2 rooks but the queen can instantly pickup the e pawn after a check and then the connected pawns win.
