    Hi Ed, I am doing the same job on my M62TU and I had to make a tool to hold the crank pulley so I can safely remove the "Jesus" crankshaft bolt. I didn't want to use an impact in my case. I have a video about it-Part 40 video. Keep up the good work mate.

    Hi Mate! Can you tell me is that true, cuz Im confused and dont know what to do with my e38? Some people say that, after rebuilt the vanos system on m62 engine, ,,the thicking noise'' dont stop, or stop but just for a short time. After searching internet, I found out, that the oem gaskets reacts with engine oil, and the best way is to buy aftermarket gaskets from independent company, there are made from different material, and that fix the problem. What is your point of view ?

  • @ThePerfectionOfLexus
    @ThePerfectionOfLexus Před 2 lety +1

    I'm looking at doing the same on my 735i m62Tu.
    How reliable are those cheap timing tool sets, are they precise, as I've heard setting the timing on these engines is pretty tough, if not done with proper tools?
    Any special brand of the cheap tools to buy?
    Did you manage to time it with the tools on first try?

      I personally didn’t had issues..i had sometimes vanos control fault but not sure if it was vanos itself or timing

  • @AaronRadfords
    @AaronRadfords Před 3 lety +2

    The guides get destroyed when the tensioner becomes slack over time. As long as the tensioner is maintained along with regular oil changes the guides should last, they are then only dealing with friction not chain thrashing caused by a slack chain.
