  • How to change / replace your main timing chain, VANOS camshafts chain, oil pump chain, timing guides, timing chain tensioners on your BMW M62 / M62TU engine DIY style. BMW M60 has pretty identical way to do it, but doesn't have VANOS system, so the camshafts are little bit different. In the video we going to compare the Chinese timing tool vs the proper one. Except the typical wrenches and sockets, a multimeter will be needed, for completing this job.

Nicely filmed! Very good lighting in the shop so the details could be seen. Nice delving into the tensioners - something we don't see enough of in other videos. All of us who need to do this job in a home garage appreciate videos like this. Thanks!!

You have made, what i consider a challenging job, seem easier to accomplish with your direction and all of the torque values!
It is much appreciated that you put together an AWESOME video for all of us out here to share with you...

There are two holes in the upper timing covers that coincide with the holes in those sensor readers. Can you verify that after adjusting those pads with the original tools, those holes in the timing covers line up with the holes in those pads?

You mean the camshaft sensor holes? Everything is fine with the car, no fault codes or issues with the engine so far.

@@crank3646 Not. There are two holes, one on each side into which 2 torx head screws are threaded. See in the video below.

I saw that you use a SWAG timing kit, what do you think of it? I am about to change the timing chain on the E46 320D M47, 136h.p (it is about 390k km), can I use the same kit, would you recommend it? Thanks!
