    [iPAD MINI 2021 REVIEW]
Something strange happens to us when we confront a gadget that’s been … condensed. Witness the recurring phenomenon of the mini phone; the mini Cooper; the “mini Winnie.” (Winnebago Man fans here? Anyone?) Point is, things that seem smaller than they “should be” tickle the same parts of our brains that help us believe that pile of circuits is actually our new robot friend (RIP Jibo); and also the aspirational parts of our brains that generations of advertisers long ago learned to leverage.
“Just think of all the things I could do with a tablet this tiny," I thought upon first unboxing the new iPad mini. "That journal I’ve been putting off; the Moleskin replacement that’ll finally get my studies on track; that nascent cooking interest that was just waiting for the right digital cookbook. My new life could be just on the other side of a five-hundred-dollar hit to my charge card.”
Sadly, the new iPad mini will not do these things for you. As my friend David Imel said of a different gadget, “things don’t really make you happy.” BUT. If you have any of those impulses already within you; if you have no space in your pocket for a supersized smartphone (and no space in your life for a full-sized tablet) … well I’ll put it to ya this way: there’s only one reason I wouldn’t buy the new iPad mini, and it probably won’t apply to you.
I'm Michael Fisher; join me for the MrMobile iPad mini 2021 Review!

I had a 10th gen iPad czcams.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA . Felt it getting pretty slow at times even after doing a reset. So I am using that as a tablet for my 5 year old son and got this 9th gen version. MUCH faster, a little slimmer, smaller bezels, all around a leap forward. Plus, for the price that’s about $130-$150 cheaper than a current new model this is a nice deal. I look forward to the M-series CPUs coming into iPads which will really help future proof these tablets better but these latest CPUs are pretty strong and should do better to last several years with no compromises.

I've been an Android user since the G1 and even have had shitty Amazon tablets trying to chase the 8" form factor but Android has left their tablet ecosystem dead in the water and I'm not much of a fan of any Samsung products. Unfortunately I'll have to get an ipad at some point, especially for procreate. Either a 8.5" pro or one of these minis but in this regard apples tablets are top dog right now. My first iOS device was a Gen 1 iPad Mini I got for school when I was 11. I loved that thing to bits. When I started trainspotting at 13 I soon found the Save As PDF feature in Safari, so I could look up train times and save them out, rather than hoping I kept that tab in memory. I got an iPad 5 to replace it, and feelings were mixed. Faster and more responsive, the 9.7" screen was beautiful- the iPad Mini G1 was pre-Retina- but it was cumbersome in the military-grade cases my school made us put it in. Since I got a Surface Pro 6, I've been yearning for that smaller tablet experience again, and the build quality problems I've had with both my Pro 6 tablets, and both their type covers combined with the new Mini being everything I hoped it would be might just push me back once and for all.

I love my mini. I got it to use as a clone of my 12 Pro Max. When I am home I’m using my mini and when I’m out my iPhone. It’s been great so far. For those who want to buy the smart folio case: just know that it is not comfortable to hold one handed if you use your pinky for support, and the dark cherry one looks messy as you take it out of the box due to dust and oil from your clean hands. It is a pain in the eye to look at! The jelly scroll is not an issue for me as I see it only if I look for it(only in portrait mode). I am a PC gamer and haven’t been a fan of mobile gaming(as in mobile phones/tablets, excluding switch) but it looks like this mini is going to change my mind! Thanks for the review Michael!

On the device itself, if they probably had started at 128Gb instead of 64Gb of storage then the entry price would have been more budget friendly. I do hope they change the home screen layout to scale the icons and widgets nearer to the bezel in a future software update. On that note, I’m definitely getting one. 😄

You can get the surface duo for the same price. When you unfold it, it is the same size. So depending on your use case, it can be your mini tablet. With enough space and the ability to make phone calls as a bonus.

I've had a bunch of iPads over the years. Most recently had a 2018 11 inch iPad Pro. While I loved it, it became mostly redundant when I got a secondary display for my Mac and didn't particularly like its size for the mostly around the house uses I had in mind for an iPad. So after two years, I sold it. A few months later, this new iPad mini comes along, and it's honestly exactly what I could use my old Pro for comfortably. Pretty sure I'll be picking one of these up shortly...

From a mini 5 user and really want to upgrade to the mini 6.. (if my wallet will allow me to get one), this is hands down a no brainer pick up item for those people who wants a mixture of portability and power. I really just wish that Apple bump this one up also at 128GB or provide us that middle ground. Because 64GB is the new 32GB due to GINORMOUS app updates from devs.
Your review has the great balance of "Yes, it is a great device for your preferences" and "But I am already invested to foldables and if you want that too and you can splurged to the price of the Z Fold 3, then you might check that also". The honesty is really spot on without sacrificing the integrity.
