VR Box 2.0 review: Is the budget Google Cardboard alternative any good?

- In the wake of Google Cardboard and Daydream, several budget VR headsets have emerged in the mobile VR gaming space. One of the more compelling is the VR Box 2.0 headset, which works with both iOS and Android. This is very much a cheap VR headset, but does it offer good value for money? Is it a good VR headset for kids? How about the VR curious? Finder’s technology expert Chris Stead puts it through its paces in his VR Box 2.0 review.

Thanks for the heads-up, this is one of the cheapest VR headset smartphone holder thingies around!
No worries, definitely one of the best options in that ultra-cheap range.

Thank you!
Thanks i don't knowed that ty
Hey! I've had this one for a while, and I've been planning on getting a PC VR headset. How does this compare to an index or a Vive?
Hi GrimReaper - they don't really compare at all to be honest. This is a very cheap headset that uses your phone as the CPU and screen. The Index and Valve are expensive headsets that have their own screens and use your PC/laptop to power the experiences.
In short, this give a taste of VR, whereas the more expensive headsets offer true VR.
Good review unlike all those unprofessional youtubers. Keep it up!
Thank you, much appreciated.
I like your review.. i have this vr headset, so affordable but having hard time looking for games😅. Can you suggest some games?❤
Thanks KuyA. Not sure what phone you have and wwhat has been updated correctly, but Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, Twilight Pioneers, Acron, Incell and Hidden Temple are worth a look.
Hi All ,
Just looking for the cheapest VR headset to use "fly" mode on Google Earth . ( meaning , just flying around 3D cities or places around Earth ) .
Used to do it with the first gen Google Cardboard with the little magnetic gizmo on the side years ago ,,,, does Cardboard have a newer unit to do this ,,,, or do you HAVE to have a VR headset WITH a handheld controller to "fly" on Goggle Earth ?
Any help appreciated .
Hi Kaa, sorry I missed your message when you posted it. There is no Google Cardboard (or Google Dardream) anymore. Headsets like this one rose to fill the space. Usually you don't need a controller as you can just move your head to look and the motion-tracking in your phone understands the movement.
Good day sir😊 if i may ask, does samsung A04 fit in that type of VR BOX? Thank you sir!
Unfortunately, that phone is just a bit too big to fit. Sorry!
Quick question brother, can you use these even if you were to just watch a regular video or play a normal game? Without the use of a vr app?
Hi Brock, I believe you can, but I suspect it's not the best experience as the lens is set up as if you are watching two screens at once (one for each eye) so you might not get the adjustments as good as just looking at the phone normally. You also can't reach the touchscreen once it is in the headset, so it's hard to interact with the program if i9t isn't working with the controller properly.
Thanks for the video. Im a bit late to the party.
I am looking for a cheap headset to try out for work purposes.
Be able to use office or google docs. If I use it for longer than a day then maybe invest in the more expensive ones. Any suggestions?
You're pretty much stepping up from this kind of Google Cardboard inspired setups, to your Oculus Quest and HTC Cosmos level (just under $1000). Then another $1000 from there up to the premium headset range.
So for Office and Google, hard to see it worth spending that kind of money. I'm just not too sure how the VR experiences for those apps go on a phone. If they work well, then something like VR Box 2.0 will give you a taste of what's possible for cheap.
@@motivatedtravel thanks for that
@@MarcWeyers no worries.
about google carboard in aliexpress or vr box which is better?
You can't get Google Cardboard here in Australia any more, so can't do a direct comparison. Needles to say, VR Box 2.0 would seem to be the better option for me looking at the two side-by-side.
watched in 2024 before buy :)
How are you finding it?
Good video man , do all phones suitable ?
Thank you! Most phones work. It's only the seriously big ones that don't fit in.

How big is the phone? I believe it's 6.5", right? Officially The VR Box 2.0 can fit 3.5''-6'' phone, but I got an iphone 12 pro in there which is 6.06". Still sounds like a53 will be too big.

Can iPhone 11 fit in
It will be tight. Technically it's a little big, but I fit one in around that size. It's touch and go. Bit of a risk.
can iphone 11 pro max fit there
Unfortunately not, that is too big for it.
Do you have a alternative phone
Would a oneplus 9 pro fit in this?
Hi Anders, I don't think it would. The Note 10 in this video is a 6.3" screen and just fits. My understanding is the oneplus 9 pro is a 6.7" screen.
@@motivatedtravel hello I have a question my cell phone measures 6.4 enters??
Is It Worth To Buy?
I'm not sure what I can add that wasn't inm the video. It's the best of the super cheap mobile VR headsets.

Hi Pubg, as long as it is between 3.5''-6'' in size it should work.
Google bukan ga support, mereka lebih fokus ke produk mereka sendiri.
Namun, mereka telah berhenti mendukung Google Cardboard dan Daydream.
Is the app vr veer
You can use VR apps like Veer on it if it works with your mobile.
can i play roblox on this
Anything you can play on your phone should work in the VR Box 2.0
