  • Filmed in March 2019, this is a quick video and photo montage featuring aerial footage and shots of businesses and organisations in my home village of Collingham, near Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire.
Basically a chance for me to have a play with my new drone and turn it into a short film...
Probably of little, if any interest to those who don't live in the village.

Brilliant video! We're looking to move to Collingham or one of the nearby villages to get away from Hykeham. It's become far too busy. Is Collingham nice and quiet?

@@dan.b07 Yeah, we noticed a lot of traffic (assume the village is used as a cut through to Newark)

Apologies Glen, only just noticed this message. I have no idea who Bob Bobby is but compared to Hykeham, I would say Collingham is relatively quiet. I've never lived in Hykeham but have often travelled through at snails pace. There is the busy A1133 going through the centre of Collingham but I have lived here all my life and although the traffic does get more and more as the years go by, I still love it and have never found it smelly. Traffic problems are becoming worse everywhere and I guess Collingham and Hykeham are no different to anywhere else when it comes to that.
The surrounding villages are lovely too. Swinderby and Witham St Hughes in Lincolnshire and Besthorpe, Winthorpe and South Scarle just to name a few in Nottinghamshire. Collingham is a fairly large village which is ever growing, again as are most places these days but it has plenty of amenities in the way of shops, sports clubs and pubs, play park etc. to keep the family entertained. Excellent rail links too, need I go on...

@@chrisdurant4627 that’s me yes. The Grey Horse is now closed and won’t be opening again as it’s been turned into a home. Trenty moved Mansfield way I believe so not seen him for 7 or 8 years.. Moony moved to Newark but died a couple of years ago. I think Wag has died too but not 100%... All others still local. Plute still going strong but you don’t see him out so much these days. Don’t see a lot of Greg as he’s moved just out the village to Girton but regularly see Sos and Bobby Lee 👍🏼

Which Shaun was you wanting me to remember you to? The only one that comes to mind from the late 90’s is Shaun Prendergast? If he is the one, I’m sorry to report that he has also died. Must be 5 or 6 years ago now. As has Brian Proctor who was often found hanging round with Shaun if you remember him too.

No hand glider, I have a drone which I used for that video.
Yes Bryan and George Noble were brothers. Bryan still well and lives in Newark with his family. George struggling a little with his memory but still seems to be pretty well. Still lives in the village but don’t see him often. 👍🏼

@@chrisdurant4627 I think I remember who you are. I wasn’t sure at first but I do remember a Chris from them days. If you’re who I think you are then you were mostly a calmly spoken easy going bloke. Fairly slim, dark slightly wavy hair? Tended to whistle to songs a lot which is a random thing to recall. Average height… I don’t think I ever knew your surname but it was a long time ago…
