    by Southwestern Eye Center
    • Eyelid Twitching: Caus...
Any involuntary movement or spasm of the eyelid muscles is termed an "eyelid twitch." The eyelid will typically close, all or part of the way, then reopen and repeat the process in very rapid succession. The most common causes of this ailment are fatigue, stress and occasionally overuse of caffeine. Twitching will normally continue for 1-2 days but usually disappear without any further treatment.

My left eyelid has been twitching a lot every day for the past four days. Besides stress, lack of sleep, and caffeine - I'd have to add that crying a lot off and on for four days has been the main reason why my left eye has been twitching every day this week. When friends, girlfriends, boyfriends, family members, or just people in general have said or done some things that have caused a person to cry - then all the crying leads to eyelid twitching. So, I would add crying to your list for reasons for eyelid twitching.

I took this Botox treatment for tow years and did find relief but not with out its side effects.
Side Effects : When tired eyes lids simply close involuntarily - one literally needs to hold eye lids open with a finger when tired. When Blepharospasm is intense the eye lid begins to sag and close partially and you don't have control over this. These effects lowered my confidence to the point where I discontinued the treatment. I eventually tried discontinuing all coffee and sugar in tate, The lack of caffeen and sugar improved my symptoms by 70 % but it is very hard to say no to a cup of coffee every few days ☺but it can be done and you will see the value in that after 7 days.

My lower left eyelid has been twitching non-stop for 3 weeks straight.
I've tried everything on Google expect the get more sleep thing, because that's impossible.
Hot compress, eye drops, no caffeine. I think it could even be caffeine withdrawal as I cut caffeine out all together recently.
The only thing I'm doing different when it started is taking magnesium. I figured the twitching was my magnesium deficient body adjusting to it, but there's no way it'd be lasting this long. It's really getting irratating and it's very noticeable.

This video helped calm my anxiety cuz i have crazy shit that goes on in my head i.e. worrying about medical issues and speculating. I usually try to stay away from searching things on the internet because i will spiral into a panic attack, but i figured searching this on youtube was better, and because the twitching was happening so frequently, i needed to know if it was a sign of things to come

OK I'M POSTING THIS OUT ONTO ALL THE TOP EYE TWITCH VIDEOS BECAUSE I THINK THERE'S SUMMAT YOU ALL NEED TO KNOW AND IT MIGHT HELP!
First thing you need to know is that in most cases 99% times this is just a muscle twitch or spasm (not to do with the brain).... I had this problem for 6 months straight everyday, some days worse than others, it first started when I quit smoking (7 MONTHS STRONG) and I thought it was part of my withdrawal symptoms or stress, or that I was just simply fucked up LOL Actually it was because I hit the teas and coffees harder than ever before.
That's right - CAFFEINE! After getting pissed off I tried a no caffeine diet, excluding TEA, COFFEE, FIZZY DRINKS and CHOCOLATE!
BLAMM!!!! Within a few days my twitch was gone, and now if I have caffeine by accident or without thinking my eyelid actually starts to niggle XD
Caffeine is a drug like any other, and it has bad side effects people..... try cutting it out completely!

GorgieClarissa Zenith was talking about ticks as in movement in the eyes, not the insect. It's not Lyme disease. Ticks/spasms of the eyes like this are a symptom of Tourette Syndrome but not necessarily Tourettes. I have these same exact ticks in my eyes as Zenith does, since I was little, complete with eye rolling. It's gotten better as I've gotten older, but it never went away. Most people who have it, it goes away after 20 or so.

    • @aryastark3148
      @aryastark3148 Před 6 lety

Zenith I have these same ticks (with the need to squint, eye rolling, etc) my whole life. It's gotten better as I get older, though I still have them and some years more or less than others. For most people, it goes away. It's good that you don't care. People can be mean, and they don't understand. Those people, including your teacher, are not worth your time and energy.
Try focusing on relaxing the mind, it helps me a lot. Try to get good sleep. Gently stretch and massage your eyelids. Maybe you will get rid of the ticks altogether someday, maybe not. But these things do help. Take care. :)

My eye started twitching immediately after they called me with the news but even though she’s home safe now it won’t stop twitching. Probably because I’m not sleeping well now so if I can relax and get some good rest I’ll be a happy camper. The night she ran away we had a birthday party, I drank excess sweet tea, had a Pepsi and my daughter made 12 dozen chocolate chip cookies and I pilfered a few. I bet none of that helped. 😒😏

It's nonstop twitching. I pretty much feel burned out. I haven't had an actual vacation and I also didn't consider the amount of green and black tea I take during work. It's a bunch of caffeine. This is so annoying! I also usually get about five-six hours night's sleep since I work morning shifts. It's getting old. I don't drink coffee, don't consume sugar or grains, I'm not even working now, so zero stress in my life. Yet, my left eyelid twitches so much. It twitches more when I have leg cramps, so I wonder if it could be related?

CM M I’m a bit of a hypochondriac so obviously I thought that I had some sort of neurological disorder but it was only a mixed of a few different things, I work in the centre of Australia which is a super dry heat and dusty conditions, when I’m home all I do is sit in front of a computer screen and play games so I’ve been putting a lot of strain on my eyes. My diet was also really bad so I was mal nutritioned which results in muscle twitches. So I’ve been using multi vitamins, eye drops and lots and lots of sleep!
