    Why did South Korea need a patrol boat equipped with guided rockets?
    Why did the ROKN not prefer an unmanned surface vessel for the job?
    What are the weapon systems and features of the Chamsuri II class?
    Does the world need a patrol-boat killer rocket?

    Welcome to our channel. All the weapon systems are like books, and they tell us their stories. The Weapon Detective investigates these books, reads between the lines, analyses, and tells the untold. At the dawn of the Second Cold War, the fruits of new projects give us clues about the future. But current weapon systems also have their own stories. In our videos, you can find technical information, historical backgrounds, what happened during the development processes, combat experience and political projection. While the Second Cold War is rising, Let's investigate the weapons together.

    An interesting boat - if they could replace a few of those rockets with anti air missles (all in the same launcher), would be a better design and make enemy air assets a bit more cautious.

    • @lingth
      @lingth Před rokem +8

      there is no need for Anti Air missiles since, any enemy aircraft approaching the patrol boats which are patrolling near the coast, would be engaged by LAND based fighters. I feel a CIWS could be added for dual purpose use as a "small anti air/anti missile" defence and also used against small fast boats.

      @@anormalkorean5048 either above the bridge or mid ship, but if a 20mm CIWS needs a lot of deck space or need to "pentrate the deck" to be mounted..
      maybe something Rafael Typhoon Mk 30c Stabilised Naval Gun System, which allow 200 ready to fire 30mm rounds, or smaller version of it like the Mini Typhoon which can be fitted with 12.7mm machine gun and is only 170 Kg and dun need to pentrate the deck of the ship meaning just place it on somewhere without drilling a hole through deck.
      its certainly more accurate than a manned 30mm cannon, since its stablised and compentate for the rolling of the seas, and in cold winters, the gunner need not expose himself to the cold weather or enemy fire, and it comes with senors, that can make firing at night easier.
      Or i would add a small sized (around the size of 1m length), drone, just arm it with a small 7.62mm, it can be used to inspect suspicious "fishing boats" before sneding a boarding party. the drone works like a mini helicopter, can be used to spot targets for the rockets and 76mm main gun also.

The question here is if the rockets can penetrate air defenses as well as cruise missiles.

    Your explanation is quite objective, it's not that you don't know the need for unmanned patrol boats, so water and underwater drones have already been developed considerably. Moreover, it is not that there is no vision or lack of technology because the demonstration of unmanned entry and exit was conducted as a merchant ship.

    While it is a risk to the sailors onboard it can keep the moral ground if fired upon. After all if a NK vessel fires at a unmanned vessel and get returned fire against their manned vessels which causes casualties, NK will be able to claim they lost sailors and SK did not. Also having unmanned vehicles will always make them more likely to be used than a manned option.
