I=In this video we continue our journey with the God of war series into Ragnarok.. This was a non stop thrill ride as we discover an older yet wiser Kratos. Aside from the visuals my wife and I were completely blown away story telling and voice acting of each character. Santa monica studios truly created a masterpiece with this game. I like how this moment was casually set up in the 2018 game because after Kratos reveals he is a God, Atreus first question is if he can turn into an animal

The reason why Kratos shouts NO when Atreus tells him that he should think like a general is because last time when Kratos was a general he made a deal with Ares and later killed his wife and daughter
Kratos almost killing Atreus was actually super traumatizing for kratos hence his tone bc let’s not forget he unwillingly killed his first child Calliope and his wife in the OG games
Ngl I wish he had told Atreus he had a step sister, but he’d have to explain that he killed her and his ex wife bc of Ares and that’ll spiral a whole bunch of things Atreus would ask questions about

But I'd love a story about Atreus exploring the world, looking for the giants and picking up bits and pieces of the legends about Kratos. Maybe even visit the remains of greece, tracking back the roots of not only his mother, but his father aswell.

@@BigBoyyNZ he probably told him, that's why Atreus talks about being a general, Kratos told him the story of when he was a Spartan General, in the book it's told that Kratos doesn't hide his past from Atreus anymore when he asks, but Atreus know Kratos gets sad when he talks about it so he avoids asking questions

When kratos responds to Atreus with his NO! He says no again in a softer tone, because he wants Atreus to understand he’s serious and when he says it in a softer tone to make it a point of seriousness he says it softer to not just show he’s yelling at him but he’s being level headed, he then says “collect yourself” not only to Atreus but to himself as well because he’s also on a journey to control his rage in the process
I also think it’s because Atreus told him to start thinking like a general which triggered his emotions to his past as a god of war
@@wilsonsayyeyes and his past as a spartan general leads to the deal with Ares... And we know what happend after that.
A really important detail that I feel a lot of people don't acknowledge a whole lot. He talks with a softer tone of voice a lot in the beginning as we see here, which shows his level of emotional maturity from the last games.
@@wilsonsayyehe knew where that took him. He destroyed his home and caused everything around him to die and barely grow back as time went on.
Notice how Kratos has steadily gotten softer towards Atreus over the course of the last game and this one?
He has some of the best character development in gaming.
In case you guys didn't know, that's the exact same voice actor of Atreus from the previous series. He quite literally grew up not just in the game but it is reflected from real life.

I don’t know if you guys noticed. But freya yelling “KRATOS!” is equivalent to Kratos yelling at Zeus and Ares for the death of his family.
Björn is the literal word for Bear in Swedish, so the name of the Bear is "Bear". Nice touch by the devs and use Nordic language to appeal more to the culture.

Remember guys when Atreus found out he was a god for the first time, he asked his dad Kratos,"Can I turn into an animal?" That was sone serious foreshadow. In Norse mythology, Loki is known as a Trickster god with the ability to transform.
Hope you guys noticed the Loki silhouette at the beginning when Atreus was carrying the deer…just a crazy little detail. Amazing reaction btw…keep it coming ❤

It's sad once you realise all the people kratos ever loved died by his hands eg,his wife and child,his mother and his brother and never got the chance to mourn any of them because he was occupied with getting revenge

Yeah this was one of the craziest first hours of a game I've ever played (although this part is only about half that time)!!! And it picks up pretty much right where it left off at in the last game story wise. So it wasn't hard to pick back up on the journey for those of us who had to wait a few years for the next game😅. The gameplay skipped a minor part tho where Kratos went out looking for Atreus and he examined the spot where the protection stave was broken. He said that there was a fight and a bear was killed by a larger bear. Thats how they knew to track down the bear (or Atreus as we now know😁) to begin with. Not a SUPER important part, but it would explain why Atreus said he saw a bear first and then he charged at it. Also, the house they live in is the same as it was before. It just looks different because of the weather mostly. The part where they were riding the sled back home in the very beginning was actually the same river they were on in the beginning of the last game. Its just frozen over. Nonetheless, I'm excited that we're finally here! The story of Ragnarok has begun!!!
You could hear the fear in Kratos' voice when he said, "I might have killed you". If he had, Atreus would not be the first offspring Kratos unintentionally slew.
I am so happy that you both are finally watching ragnarok. The character growth for kratos and atreus is so good.
i never noticed it, but in the dream Kratos has of Faye, at the end she paints a golden hand print on Kratos' head which are the same handprint's that are used to mark the boundary of the protection stave, so it's Faye's way of symbolically marking Kratos as the new protection stave that will keep him and Atreus safe.
If it wasn't for GoW 3, this would be my number one GoW. Ragnarok does have the best story of them all, IMO.

Ever since God of War 3, I think Kratos does nothing BUT grieve. Faye and Atreus actually gave him a break from that, he's just too afraid of himself to actually express how grateful he is to them.
I randomly found you guys a few months ago and binged/followed along with your GoW watch-through ever since. So excited to see you both experience Ragnarok for the first time!! It's been a journey but we're finally here👏🏼

Even though I have finished the whole god of war series at least 2 times (including ragnarok), it still manages to get me excited to watch it again with your reactions. I look forward to the new episode with excitement and impatiently!
My favourite game series. I'm really glad you guys reacted to all the games in the series and didn't just start from the 2018 game. Seeing all the little details pop up here and there from the old games and seeing Kratos' development was so satisfying. Thanks and hope you enjoy Ragnarok.

Don't know if you guys picked up on this but ragnarok is also the moment Kratos starts calling Mimir by his name and not Head. One of the lore pages you can read in game mentions Kratos seeing Mimir as a brother.

All I want to do is watch the journey of you two through this story, I’ve beaten it twice and watching you two makes the journey even better, if you posted like 2 vids a day I would be in heaven but no rush take it in at your own rate
I cant imagine what Kratos was thinking when atreus said "Think like a General" because in the beginning dont forget that kratos started out being a General that lost his family. Now his son who he almost just killed is saying stop thinking like a father and start thinking like a General.
I just find it funny to imagine the whole bear fight from the pov of mimir XD, genuinely surprised his not screaming out loud in pain

In the opening cut scene you see Attreus figure outline when walks in carrying the Deer he looks like Loki with horns of the deer .

All jokes aside there’s a lot of dialogue in this game while you grind for things. So I recommend watching a compilation on some of it. AFTER you finish Ragnorok.

I read that he is actually stronger due to his advanced age, not sure if thst's right but he is a god so.... i dunno if young kratos would be anywhere near as effective as the older, wiser kratos

I'm so excited to see you guys go through this game, it's an absolute journey on par with the best movies out there. To describe this game without giving any spoilers, if the last god of war was Kratos teaching Atreus how to survive, Ragnarok is Atreus teaching Kratos how to live. The kid is no longer just a kid, the playing field is a lot more level now, and the interactions between them really showcase that, Kratos is too defensive, Atreus is too reckless, they need to learn to balance each other out, and i can't wait for you to see everything this one has in store!
Yeah, this game hits the ground running, and does not let up. It's like playing a movie trilogy.
Bjorn means “bear” in Norse. I think it comes from a story from a king or prince being cursed into a bear or something but I could be wrong

Guys you missed a small detail from God of War 2018. After defeating all Valkyries mimir will mention about Freya's visit to him. She interrogated him about Valkyrie wings to bring back her Warrior spirit. I think that's how she got warrior spirit again to fight against kratos.

In my opinion, one of, if not the Greatest story ever told. The story fron the very beginning. The character development is the best. I just hope Amazon does the love action justic.
I started a bulk up a few months ago and i'm already up to 243 pounds and getting bigger. I want the part of Kratos. I have never in my life wanted to do something so bad. I look so much like him that everywhere i go people call me Kratos. I am putting a short film together and sending it to Amazon. Anyway, i'm 6'5 243 pounds and counting. I have always succeeded when i put a goal in front of me. I'm also 49 years old as well. The only difference is the shape of our nose which can be fixed with prosthetics. Keep your eyes peeled for my Kratos live action video. Instead of buying a badly made costume i'm slowly piecing mine together. Cant wait for the final reveal. Promise your minds will be blown.

34:27 I cant imagine what Kratos is feeling. People forget that him killing his first child was what led to the 1st 3 games. He came very close to killing ANOTHER child. All that had work trying to forget only for it to be happen again. I dont thing Atreus even knows. One thing I can say; If Sif was right about Odin, Then Hiemdall was RIGHT about Atreus.
Remember Atreus asked his dad if he could transform into anything when he 1st find out he was a god! Cool foreshadowing!

Kratos has been a part of 2 apocalyptic events. At the start of last game Kratos didn't know how to be at peace with himself. The journey Faye sent them on taught him that. Now you'll see him try to teach others this same lesson.

I know I’m late for commenting, but for anyone who sees this later, when Freya is attacking Kratos at the beginning, she only goes for Kratos. The only time she hits Atreus is when he’s in the way, and it’s only to push him. It’s a nice touch by the devs to show without saying that Freya really only blames Kratos for Bauldur’s death.
