Me too! Although, I think there was enough room for Mat's and Seanchen in the main series; but RJ got too self-indulgent and Mrs McDougal failed to rein him in.

Almost all authors can't possibly be this transparent because they are not as organized in the first place. How can someone tell you exactly how and why they are going to do something if they don't know it?
I wonder what a Larian x Sanderson project would look like.
Larian studios rpg set in cosmere, would be the best thing that could ever happen. Lets hope for that someday.

I would like to just say a heart-felt thank you for you being you, Brandon. A writer who is in love with his fans as much as his fans are in him is so rare in this electronic age. You have never seemed fake to us, so we see you as a real person. I have observed the excitement of your fans around you but what I never observed was them forgetting you are a person. I have toured (in the 90s) with a band who I am childhood friends with and too often I saw the stress between fan and fanatic break and people treat each other with stupidity. You, instead, present an honest front because it is not a front, and your fans see it for what it is: your love of stories and those who want to hear them. Hoid would be proud to call you father.

Brandon comes back from taking a break- “Brandon here! Been a while since I was here for a weekly update. Isaac and Dan have been doing a great job with these updates while I was out, but I am now back! It was great for Emily and I to have some time to relax and unplug without all the meetings and pressures of running a company. We love it, but… it’s a lot of work. I know some people joked that I was gonna come back with two more secret projects, but unfortunately they were wrong. (dramatic pause) I actually wrote three, and the crowdfunding goes live next month. I didn’t plan on doing another of these so soon, but I just couldn’t help myself. Hope you guys enjoy these, I certainly had a lot of fun writing them!”
@@hkfifty871 What you’ve said is so possible, I’m now thinking of a timeline where that happens:
In the second part of the year after finishing Wind and Truth when he’s revising White Sand and polishing his Mistborn Era 3 outline, Sanderson will finish at least one Secret Project.
Then after Dragonsteel 2023 and the State of the Sanderson, Brandon gives his company an extra few days off as well. Family comes in town to visit, and then Brandon and Emily take a trip to Hawaii and Fiji right after Christmas, where Sanderson finally cracks the code for Kingmaker. (Writing and revising SP5 also really helped.)
Book 3 will be the sequel to The Rithmatist. Brandon and Emily will take a “writing retreat” to Mexico City, where Brandon will find the secret to writing The Aztlanian. (This one won’t be released as a Secret Project, but will be a general release.)
In his first day back “in the office,” Brandon will leave his three newest projects out, just like he’s done for the previous 5.
I have not read any of your work, but I recently discovered your channel and think it’s cool that you have an open dialogue with your audience.

Brandon: writes 1000 pages in 11 months: "not insane, but respectable"
GRRM: writes 600 pages in 10 years: "brah"
It's a popular thing to dunk on the fact that Martin is struggling with the most recent super complicated book with hundreds of characters and dozens of plotlines... but that ignores the four decades before that where he wrote twenty novels, dozens of tv show episodes, edited thirty anthology novels, and wrote over 100 short stories and novellas.
Martin was plenty productive when he was younger. He wrote the first three GoT books in about year each, and those were all about 1000 pages.
He's having a hard time writing a hard book. He's managed 1000 pages in a year before.
@@robbybevard8034 that is the problem, he managed to do that before, he is plenty capable, but he chooses to not do that now.
We can only speculate why Winds of Winter has no release dates, but the most common theories make a lot of sense:
- he wrote himself into a corner, with too much plotlines/characters, and instead of reducing the scope, GRRM kept increasing it;
- he does not like to plan ahead, because he likes to write as a "gardener", not as an architect;
- people HATED the ending (that is D&D's fault, the ending could be good if tackled correctly), and GRRM got lost, he does not know what to do now;
- he purposefully keeps doing other projects instead of focusing on his "magnum opus", and even those side projects sometimes do not get finished, such as "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms" and "Fire & Blood".
Sure, the author must have freedom to do his art the way he sees fit, and within the timeframe he sees fit, but on he also owes to the fans to finish what he started, and GRRM got to the point where he couldn't give a shit to the fans.
He has enough money and fame now to do whatever he wants, so he does that, bur what got him enough money and fame was exactly his fans and ASOIAF, and now he prefers to do anything BUT finish that, and that is an extreme disrespect to the fans.
I used to love ASOIAF, but now, seeing the way GRRM treats his fans, that has changed. And GRRM only makes this worse by not addressing it, and making the fans seem like they are a bunch of petulant children (some are).
As a writer I can see him feeling the story has already been told in the TV series so why tell it again?

Not a GRRM fan at all, but dam this man in his 70s and burnt out. Probably sick of entitled brats worrying about something he simply isn't that excited about anymore.

If the Cosmere is coming to life on the big screen, I would love to see it all be in animation. Seeing Tress in the style of Avatar the Last Airbender, or Mistborn in the style of Star Wars Clone Wars Season 7 would be amazing.
Animation is such an underrated medium and I feel like it does justice to fantasy series better than live action. You can show the magic in so much more detail and often in live action magic tends to come up weird (See ATLA or shadow and bone). Or to make that magic look good in live action you need MASSIVE budgets.
I was against animation, but saw Arcane and went "ah yeah this would work" then I watched the clone wars and saw the light saber battles and started to get a good picture in my mind.
Having said that I'd love a live adaptation, but you're right that there would be some hurdles. Maybe a combo of both? Live action MB, animated SA?
Warbreaker would look phenomenal animated...
I feel like I am living my life from one Sanderson book to the next. I must live if for nothing else than to see Stormlight through.
We need a crowd funding for a Sanderson movie or TV series. Maybe we could all subscribe or buy tickets in advance to pay for production. What’s most important is that Brandon is in full control of any projects.
God I so would. Personally I just want the people who made arcane to make a stormlight miniseries. Mainly because I don’t think it’s fully possible to do stormlight in live action

Part six on adaptation is heartbreaking. So many of my friends and family are not avid fantasy reader but I'm sure they would love to immerse themselves in the Cosmere. We just need one adaptation to work out and present the cosmere to the rest of the world to set up the rest of the universe.

I got into Mistborn, my first Cosmere book just as it went on sale, and by the time I got through the book and realized I'd found a new passion, the boxes were all sold out. Flash forward to now, where I've gone through all of Era 1 and 2, still am completely in love with the series, and a day doesnt pass when I dont look at the page saying "sold out" with a tear in my eye.
You'd think that it being Brandon's most popular series a restock would be on their radar, but maybe they've just been too busy
So excited for the stormlight RPG! After reading The Lost Metal, I hope it grows into a cosmere RPG. And yes, Tress would make a great animated feature!

I find myself fascinated in thinking about this alternate-history Brandon and what might have been if he pursued more novels in the Wheel of Time universe.
We could probably say goodbye to the Secret Projects, and some of the Cosmere as well (maybe even had the Stormlight Archive trimmed down into a couple trilogies, instead of a pair of five book arcs), as alt-Brandon didn’t have the time or opportunity to write them. Which would’ve been a tragedy.
On the other hand, more Wheel of Time! Maybe leading alt-Brandon to have more involvement in the narrative and writing in Amazon’s Wheel of Time adaptation, which could’ve been really cool.
