    Hei timing from the vacuum advance is only moves one way unless modified. It can not pull timing under boost the linkage hits the cut out and can't push backwards. You can cut the pod off and flip it , the rod and springs then it will work backwards pulling timing for boost but will no longer advance timing. You can pull 5-7 degrees under boost by flipping and modifying it. Only person i have seen do this on CZcams is Tony Angelo on his Cheap Syclone build. Im using it on my hei supercharger setup.

      Yeah, that’s definitely the way to go if you can afford it I was just trying to see budget wise what I could make. I honestly didn’t see it all working out. It was more of just a learning process but the pump has been awesome. The fuel tank is actually the original fuel tank so it does not have a sump so it’s actually picking up fuel from the top and the pump still does it with no issues.

    The stock vac/advance can wont retard unless you put a spring on both sides of the diaphram and have room for motion both ways, i build these out of two new accell units, you have to cut the diaphram housing off of both new units, put them together like two bowls top to top, this will hold a spring on both sides of one diaphram. Remove the nipple from one of the caps, and screw that end to the flat steel bracket.#8-32 all thread will be your new shaft that you will run back to the rectangle window, get it red hot n bend it 90 degrees. Your window will have to be lengthened to accomodate the new motion of retard. Window length and spring pressure regulates sweep/ammount of retard. Or $150 i build you one too..

    I wanna do a turbo build with one of the $1200 Speedmaster 350 blocks. Other people have made over 1500 at the wheels with them no problem, I'd have to use a Bryant crankshaft with a bigblock snout and Carillo rods. But you have to spend money when you're making that power level, there's no getting around it

    • @stevenbelue5496
      @stevenbelue5496 Před rokem

      I ordered one of the speedmaster 400 blocks from summit. I got the unfinished block and just measuring with cheap fowler mics and bore gauge it's very close. Close enough that I want to order some Starrett or mitutoyo where I can get down to hundred thousandths or at least one ten thousandths vs half a thou with the fowler. You can guesstimate with the fowler but still each tick on the gauge is half a thou or at least the one I have is. But I was impressed I didn't expect what I measured(cylinder bore, lifter bores, main bores) to be that good.

I see you don't turn on her too bad and its been working just fine for you. I intened to eventually put my borg Werner four speed with it too. My question is would you suggest that Cam the 292 comp or another cam. I plan on using a set of heads with a 194 exhaust valve but its a 95 roller engine. Stock rockers and studs im gonna put older 882s on it.

    Where are you located?
    If you would put the open plenum intake on it along with a billet wheel, properly sized T4 turbo, you'd have big block torque down low and it would make about 200hp more!! Doesn't have to be an expensive one, just ANYTHING but that gt45!! That's all we had in 2010, but they are truly boat anchors in comparison to modern billet wheel turbos!!

      No, I don’t have any sort of intercooler on it. With a blow through set up at lowers the intake air temperature is quite a bit and with the lower boost i haven’t had a need for it. If you run E85, they say it’ll drop the intake, air temperature over 100°.

    Just FYI I don't think you will be getting a retard from the positive pressure under boost of the vac advance. I think what's likely is that under boost your just getting back to base pressure e.g. 32 total with zero vac advance. which does mean your timing may be high given your hitting 11 psi. How do your plugs look? cool setup btw!

      I figure by that he's looking to see some pretty stainless tig work, 4 into 1 with a lot of stainless showing. Nothing wrong with the Holdener budget route. I'd say your nearing the area where precautionary steps need to be taken to keep it alive. Though boost is just a reference and you may not be seeing cylinder pressures that equate from those levels, depending on the intake tract and level of restriction.
