What many of these people commenting on this video don't understand is that yes of course there were other V8s, other more powerful engines in other makes of cars. The reason that the 1932 V8 was such big news was that it was the first V8 in the low price field. Another reason for its vast popularity was the fact that it was made by Ford. Young people today probably don't realize that ,in those days, most cars were marketed in price categories ( I.e.,low lower medium, upper medium, and so on), with vast majority of cars being sold in the low price field. Also, Ford had been number one in sales in almost every year until 1927. So when Ford announced something new, everyone listened. Reliability of those early V8's was not very good, but Ford's loyal customers kept their sales strong, even though Chevrolet outsold Ford every year from 1936 to 1956. People liked Ford's performance and,in most years until 1940 or so, they largely preferred Ford styling,at least in some years. Up until the 1955 model year, Ford built the quickest cars in the low price field every year.
I worked on cars ever since I was like 6 years old helping my oldest brother work on his cars and that's when I fell in love with a V8 engine although, for a short while, I did fell in love with a V-12 from a 70's Jaguar E-Type which was in the garage of my brother-in-law who was a mechanic. For me it's not how fast they can go or how much horsepower they produce, it's more the mechanical side of it. These days they can really get them going with ridiculous amounts of horsepower.
He said Henry Ford didn't invent the _big_ and _expensive_ V8. What he in fact did was to commission his engineering dept. to develope a _small_ but _inexpensive_ V8, one which would not pale in terms of performance if suddenly coming to the realization it is in the presence of a V8 Cadillac or a Duesenberg 8.
Found out through Ancestry a few years ago that Clyde Barrow as well as Joe Louis [Barrow] are distant cousins of mine. It’s fascinating to know that we all share the same interest of fast cars.
Oddly enough wasn't the first to make a V8. He was beat out almost 30 before. But he was the only one to build it for the mass people. All others were made to suit a specific application or luxury brand of car.
Pieces are completed thanks to Saint Nick .Shut up jump up before I go to New York with a Ford twin toro.mmm thanks to Saint Nick jump around. Gee wiz I love jump shoes and aurora pentastar buroyelsin.
if this guy doesnt know what an inline 4 is, then why would I want him to explain to me what a v8 is? if he has to ask why engines look like swiss cheese, then he probably doesnt know how the engine even works
Pieces are complicated thanks to Saint Nick. Ford is one of heck company . Shut up before I spend my money going to New york. with a Ford engine twin toro.mmmm Saint Nick is king of the road, gee wiz.
This actor has not even a basic knowledge of engines, many of his "facts" are inaccurate, there were many other engines at the time with more power, and over head valves.
I can’t even imagine how much that no. 1 engine is worth. It probably priceless, subject only to whatever one would pay if ever sold.

Léon Levavasseur patented the V-8 engine in 1902. His innovations included the V8 engine, direct fuel injection, and liquid engine cooling.

That guy is so cheesy 😁

No shit dumbass, were you even listening to the video?
in-line 4 ... dont know what that is
:D that was pretty hilarious and savage
Good one
I love this
An inline 4 is what the T's had, genius.
If you don't know what an online 4 why did they choose him to talk about v8's
If you liked this video you have to watch the movie public enemies with Johnny depp as John Dillinger..... the cars are just from a dreamworld
That there Swiss cheese design is what made the v8
It's a good video, but that guy is _soooo_ lacking in knowledge about engines :-(

This guy has no idea of how an engine works if he thinks it looks like Swiss cheese.
His mind may be swiss cheese too
Relax he’s just having a little fun with it
