Correct, they were thrown out the league and had to apply for membership, hence the reason the new tribute act had to start in the 4th tier

There were no demotions, Rangers v1.0 cheated for decades spending money they didnt have like it was Monopoly money but when it came time to pay their beloved queen her taxes they were found to be flat broke and were subsequently liquidated out of existence such is the fate of all business's and football clubs who live beyond their means. Rangers v2.0 had to seek permission to start again as a brand new entity and their acceptance was put to a vote to allow it. 👍

The above comments are correct. Rangers were kot demoted, they were liquidated. A nes club was formed in 2012 (The Rangers) and they entered senior football in the lower tier. This is also what happened to Airdrieonians.
It was called Sevco Scotland and when they entered the Scottish league they weren't even called The Rangers.

I wouldn't use any earnings metric that excludes tax when it comes to this lot! 😀 Also, without doing a side by side comparison with the mighty Celtic you can't really leave any questions hanging about on field success. The Rangers finances are currently being held together by directors loans, confetti share issues and bits of sellotape. Without the title this season they are in more than a spot of bother.

Rangers were never relegated from the SPFL, they never received any prize money from the SFA/SPFL as runners up in 2012.

They NOT demoted or relegated, the club was liquidated, it ceased to be. It was a dead club. A new club was formed and was fast-tracked in to the old 3rd Division. Against all the rules. They should have gone straight to the Junior League where they would have needed to play for at least 3 years to supply the required financial documentation for entry in to Division 3, now SPFL League 2.
Who wrote this nonsense? Rangers were not "demoted". They were liquidated and a new club had to be started which had to apply to join the Scottish football league division 4. The SFA tried to get them into the top league but the other clubs refused. They then tried to get them into the championship and again, the clubs said no.
Sevco Scotland (the company that bought dead Rangers assets) had to apply to join the 4th tier of Scottish football and they shouldn't even have been allowed in there because a requirement of joining is 3 years full accounts and the new company had none.
The football licence had to be passed from Rangers FC (in liquidation) to Sevco Scotland so how come two clubs existed at the same time to pass a licence between them? They can't be the same club. Only a football club can hold this licence, not a company or a holding company.
The dead Rangers weren't set up with a holding company in anycase, they were an incorporated company with the football and company being one and the same. Indivisable.
They still owe £160m from their inceptionn in 2012 those loans are more than £16m & are soft loans jelly & ice cream at the ready
