    I have a question for you. There are a lot of Swans fans out there who say that the new American owners have taken huge amounts of money out of the club since they took over. Their argument is that Swansea have sold players for around £180 million in that time and spent around £20 million on new players. So they ask, where is the money (£160m)?

    • @NumbersBehindtheNet
      @NumbersBehindtheNet Před 8 dny

      Hi Andreas - from the financials the short appears to be to cover cash outflows from the club's operations (not uncommon for Championship clubs) Looking at 7 years from 16/17 to 22/23: Cash absorbed from operations (£96m) Cash made from transfers (net) £51m [£206m sold, £155m bought] Cash spent on capex (facilities etc) (£10m) The sum of those 3 are cash outflows of £55m The owners have funded £49m over that period (majority appears to be through equity)

    • @andreasvukman

      @@NumbersBehindtheNet Thanks. According to Transfermarkt, Swans have bought in that period for £135m and sold for £232m. Your numbers are different (for almost £50m). So, if I understand correctly, you are saying that the owners haven't taken money out of the club?

    This all seems quite out of date, presumably off the back of published accounts. When you say 2023 do you mean 2022/23? If so that's pre Knighthead. The new owners have said had we stayed up we would have had the largest revenue outside the relegated teams with their parachute payments, following the huge amount of commercial work they've done. Plus this summer we're getting rid of the final large player contracts as they come to an end and we have received further payments related to the Bellingham sale to Real Madrid.

      No there isn’t it’s worse, Instead it’s the Salary Cost Management Protocol (SCMP) is the Financial Fair Play rules for all League One and League Two Clubs. The SCMP requirement is whereby a Club's Player-Related Expenditure shall not exceed the sum of 60% or 50% of the Club's Relevant Turnover for League One and League Two Clubs respectively. So In theory its worse

    • @royalblue5758
      @royalblue5758 Před 21 dnem

      @@Mark12106 In the first season following relegation the sum is 70%. There are some exclusions on this relating to home grown players under the age of 20 which are not counted in the wages turnover. This will exclude the wages of Jordan James and George Hall for a start. A number of players currently on substantial wages are out of contract this summer and probably a few contracted players will not want to play in League One. They will generate additional, albeit, modest transfer fees and savings on wages. If Real Madrid win the Champions League Blues will get additional £3.5m on the Jude Bellingham deal. The new owners are spending £15m this summer on a variety of projects across the club including improving the corporate facilities in the railway end stand and two match day fan zones to increase revenue. I don't think they would be doing this if they were not confident that they can make the team successful on the pitch. They can and, they will. The financial situation is not great for many clubs but we really don't have the full details. Much will depend on what the club does to generate income but their plan is to do this via corporate sales and partnerships. All Blues fans just need to be glad this relegation did not come 12 months ago before Knighthead took over. We really would have been in serious trouble if that had happened. Believe in the club. KRO.

      Its interesting to see the figures. Im not sure i fully understand how to turn it around, but then im not a business man. There are ways Chansiri can bring money into the club, but it has to go into the club and not into his pocket. He could do better with making sure we sell players and don't just give them away or refuse to sell. We shouldn't be where we are, we are a big club. The ground needs some work, it's old, rundown and the facilities are lacking. We got 33 thousand in at Hillsborough for the last home match of the season, the fans love their club, no doubt, but they don't love the owner or the stunts he pulls. Even if he leaves, he still owns our stadium, getting it back may be an impossibility. It feels like a dictatorship. Chansiri is abusive to fans, to questions we ask and he should be investigated for financial mismanagement and for his attitude towards the supporters. It really seems Danny has told him to leave the playing side to him, which I think past managers struggled to do. Chansiri is far too involved in things that he knows nothing about, the footballing side. I, personally hope he leaves but who would buy us. If people have made offers, then I take it the price is too steep and the terms not favourable. Its a stranglehold. I'd love to see it change. If we can stay in the Championship then let's hope we can change our fortunes around.

    • @1867tim
      @1867tim Před měsícem

      I don't think Chansiri is as bad as he is painted by a lot of fans. Certainly there are clubs with worse chairmen. Certainly Chansiri has not learnt lessons, learnt lessons and then seemingly unlearnt lessons since he arrived. Whilst he has neglected some essential aspects, he hasn't walked or left us to rot as some chairmen do. Carlos was an inspired first appointment for a while, though the successors were not. I think Bruce screwed Chansiri and the club. I think the abuse that he gets from fans is counter productive and the vitriol is completely out of order. If you were chairman and had overseen the worst start to a season in 157 years with fans baying for you, would you have had the guts to appoint a man with no managerial experience to be the youngest manager in the league? Appointing Danny and giving him his support team was an absolute masterstroke and I don't know many people who would have been that brave. We have fans who chant "We want our club back." and "Get out of our club." The club has never belonged to the fans. In good times and bad, there are always fans who want to agitate for some sort of change, be It in the leadership, strategy, transfer market, facilities or whatever. Some fans taking an adversial approach is normal. Turning that into personal abuse with threats of violence is, in my 50 years experience of supporting the club, a more recent phenomenon. It is in the club's and the fans' interest that Chansiri succeeds. Let's hope Saturday is a good day and that there are many, many better days to come.

    Your numbers are wrong, we had an operating loss after tax in 2021 of 12.2m, not a profit. Why do you account for amortisation in the loss for 2022 and 2023 but not 2021?

    • @NumbersBehindtheNet
      @NumbersBehindtheNet Před měsícem

      12.2m is the financial loss for FY21 (13.7m was the operating loss before interest & tax) - for Premier League "profit & sustainability" rules the club are allowed to adjust their losses exclude certain costs (e.g.youth development), for 2021 they are also allowed to adjust for estimated loss of revenue from covid. Transfer fee amortisation is included in all figures (both operating losses & PSR losses) Source files here: find-and-update.company-information.service.gov.uk/company/02529667/filing-history (2021 accounts, page 11)

    They NOT demoted or relegated, the club was liquidated, it ceased to be. It was a dead club. A new club was formed and was fast-tracked in to the old 3rd Division. Against all the rules. They should have gone straight to the Junior League where they would have needed to play for at least 3 years to supply the required financial documentation for entry in to Division 3, now SPFL League 2.

    Rangers weren’t and aren’t back in the top flight, you cannot go back to somewhere you’ve never been, it’s a new tribute act that’s now in the top flight
