KTM: Malaysian Railways in Singapore

  • Filmed in the early 2000s, this video gives a glimpse of the KTM in Singapore at Tanjong Pagar terminus and at Bukit Timah station en route to Woodlands. The line is now closed with the service terminating at Woodlands.

    What a rustic and nostalgic piece of transportation from the early days of Singapore's history! It's a shame that the line is now shut down and abandoned, with no ground-level railways existing in Singapore now. :(

      The line has been cut short to Woodlands Train Checkpoint only. So there's about 1.5 km of ground level railway left in Singapore.

      you blame Lee Kuan Yew and son for this. for the sake "development" and yet forgets the historical of federation could have been..
      but of course, after series of negotiation.. Najib is singapore's ally for this deal

      @@HBC101TVStudios after RTS open for operation, i think the shuttle train frm Johor to Singapore will cease operation.

      @@TravellingKuro yes but WTCP will be used for Eastern and Oriental Express. Either it's reserved for that or E&O will be terminated at JB

    The Intercity Express Trains in this priceless and rare video includes Ekspres Rakyat Number 2 Up en route to Kuala Lumpur and Butterworth/Bagan Tuan Kecil, Ekspres Timuran Number 15 Down en route from Tumpat, as well as Local Mail Train Number 58 Up en route to Gua Musang.

    Yeah the KTM railway lines in Singapore have been converted into the Rail Corridoe Walkway in 2011 cos the tracks belong to Malaysia.

      Sorry for the delay. It stands for Keretapi Tanah Melayu - that's the Malaysian national railways on Peninsular Malaysia.
