  • If you use a modern note taking app for Bible Knowledge management, then you might want to create a book of the bible overview note. These provide a reference to key themes and ideas in a book of the bible to help you as you study or prepare a class.

Is it possible to highlight a verse in the bible(within obsidian) and create a footnote that links to notes that discuss that verse?
So for example, I highlight a verse.and next to that verse will be a small "1,2,3" for however many notes it's linked in and those links appear as footnotes?
I'm trying to bring over my note taking system and combine it with obsidian.
Thank you for your wonderful videos.

Do you keep your books of the Bible type notes in with the actual Bible in your Zettelkasten or do you keep it in your Zettelkasten with all your other notes?

Took me a second but I think I understand.
I do keep the book of the bible overview note in my bible folder for the simple reason that I had that title note in my system when I imported Joschua’s kit. Due to my heavy use of search and links, it doesn’t cause me any issues but I can see why someone might want it with their other notes.

Where do you file these notes on the book? I think you are using the book name as the hub, but are the other files stored in a specific structure? That's what I'm trying to figure out about my own Bible notes

Hi Jack. I stole the plain text bible from Joschua's set up (forum.obsidian.md/t/bible-study-in-obsidian-kit-including-the-bible-in-markdown/12503) in this version he has the Bible split by chapter, with h6 headings for each verse (which helps with embedding) and links between chapters and a sort of hub note for each book. Those hub notes are practically empty so they are a prime choice to bulk out and add further links to. I know some people have separate files for each verse but that seems a little finicky to me.

Thanks Chris. I should have been clearer. I already have the Bible in Obsidian. I'm wondering how you organize your notes on the Bible. I understand using the book file as the hub, but where do you file all the notes that are linked to that hub?

@@JackLamb 🤦‍♂️I've got you now. I have a folder light structure and use search and MOCs to help get to these hub notes. Currently the notes attached to these points are in my resources folder along with my other "atomic" / "evergreen" notes. I'm actually going through the linking your thinking workshop right now and this is one of the points I'm evaluating. I might put them within a folder but I'm not sure that doing so (or not) will make much difference for me (thanks to using MOCs/Hub notes).
