I have no intention of ever owning a fight stick, but I still love watching Bob tell us whether or not this one is any good.
Be very careful, after I got my arcade stick I bought a boatload of games that play well with an arcade stick
I hope some of them was Fatal Fury Special, Waku Waku 7, Money Puzzle Idol Exchanger, Galaxy fight, and super street fighter 2 turbo just to name a few...

Looks like it came straight outta the 80's with that color scheme. I love it! I already have an RAP V Hayabusa stick, but this compact size looks nice.
90's? NES was the 80's...
@@Stanfizzle12 Ah, my bad, it was a typo.

The button prompts that change depending on which platform you are playing on is so cool. I wish there was a regular style controller that worked with pc, PS and switch that had button prompts lights just like here.
I love this device. I use it to play JRPGs actually, it is nice to give the old hands a rest from the controller position. I installed the Sarwa stick and buttons, and it is completely unnecessary but does feel SLIGHTLY better. But the on board buttons and stick are high quality anyway.
We pronounce 8bitdo very differently.
I say "do", you say "do".
8bit âdoughâ not âdewâ

âBuild your own arcade around this.â Challenge accepted for my channel! I did build an arcade around the N30 last year but the buttons were a little... wobbly? squishy? Not really sure how to describe them. But it was fairly easy to switch out and upgrade them. MadLittlePixel did the same. Hopefully this arcade stick is truly an improvement. Great video!
honestly one of the most aesthetically pleasing arcade sticks I've seen...
My Ultra Street Fighter II for Switch legit arrived an hour before this video was uploaded, crazy.
Not where I expected to see this crowd, XO TWOD
Just a correction. Mechanical keyboard enthusiast these days do not care about Cherry MX.
Aside from some vintage Cherry MX, we have a lot of other options in the market since the Cherry patent expired. Even cheaper brands like Gateron are considered to be better. And we have more premium options as well.
Thanks for sharing!
Patends and too short
I was gonna come to something like this but I already found it but also
I'm a nk cream person
4:40 that is genius! If 8bitdo had a feature similar to that on their regular controllers, theyâd be one-stop-shop for all my controller needs!
"It's like the keyboard people. You want Cherry MX, everything else you're gonna want to replace"
*r/mk entered the chat*
WELL ACTCHUALLY
fr tho, Cherry MX are considered some of the worst modern MX switches, second only to cheap clones like Otemu. Most other clones companies, like Kailh, Gateron and co have switches that are considerably better than anything Cherry offers at the moment.
Some people have a liking for vintage MX Blacks, but the new ones are not as good from what I'm told.
If you're in the market for a new prebuilt keyboard, I recommend you experiment a bit and maybe go with some Kailh Box Whites if you wanted Cherry Blues, or some Gateron Browns instead of MX Browns. You might just end up liking it more.
"My Call of Duty Box." LOL! "My Game Pass Box" would also work.
I have been consistently impressed with 8bitdo's controllers. I have an fm30 pro which is great for portability.
Sweet review. I love 8bitdo's products. I have two SN30 Pro+ controllers and they're amazing in terms of function, build quality and aesthetic. I think you've sold me on this Arcade stick which I've been eying for a while.
Thank you, I was really curious about this!
Very nice. Might have to pick this up. Love my 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ with the Pro software. Even lets me swap the d-pad with the left analog stick.
The mounting plate for the joystick is universal, so you can *mount* any type of joystick you want. However, the enclosure itself isn't thick enough and there isn't enough clearance for most American style levers, which take up much more internal real estate than Japanese style levers. So even though 8bitdo says that any joystick will fit, that's only true mechanically speaking.
It's funny you talk about wanting a record function because honestly, the programmable interface on PC sounds incredible
I canât believe you opened up with the pocket operator, then didnât mention the stick looks like a cross between the NES Advantage and the Teenage Engineering OP-1
I donât mean for it to sound like âYouâre doing it wrong!â, I just mean youâre the person Iâd expect to bring that up.
thanks for the review! I liked the look of this on amazon and decided to check out a review! This was super helpful & I'm glad it feels like a quality product! I think I'll buy it haha thanks :D
Great review Bob. I want one of these solely bc I love 8bitdo controllers so much. Got an SN30Pro, the Pro2 (gave my Pro+ to a nephew), a zero2 plus their NES themed Mouse and Mat and just got a pair of BT speakers.
You convinced me to get one! It just arrived today, I love it
So excited for this, mine is coming around friday or saturday
how is yours coming on friday. i preorderd mine on amazon and they say delay until january
@@RedBoyke. I preodered two and got both of the ones I ordered last Thursday. They must really be in demand cause I keep hearing about this delay now.
@@excessmaterial looking at the amazon website it looks like all americans are getting theirs but people in europe get nothing.
@Icarus Kid how is this the problem of arcade stick that you didnt pick tv with lowest latency if you find latency so important?
iOS supports using a DualShock 4 as a controller option and the gripless SN30 works wonderfully in "mac" mode on iOS. I don't see why this wouldn't work either for iPhones and iPads. Also japanese arcade stick buttons generally are extremely linear. I haven't played with Korean style yet though.
This arcade stick was the one that caught my eye just based off how pretty it looks lmao
Glad I found a vid on it đđœ
i have been waiting for your review on this!
I'm still using my Madcatz Xbox 360 Soulcalibur stick (works on switch with an adapter). Fightsticks are great for most 2D games that control with d-pad.
I really like the look of this arcade stick. I might pick one up even though i have a bigger Hori Street Fighter themed Switch/Ps3/PC arcade stick.
5:20 FINALLY RECOGNITION
This thing is very nice looking. If was more into arcade sticks I'd want one.
I got mine last week and while the buttons are not the highest quality the fact its pretty easily modded means for a few bucks it's not a huge deal to change them out for standard Japanese parts
Does the stick read as analog or digital? Would you be able to do a tilt attack in smash or is it full go all the time?
@@Walking_bandaid it's only an eight Direction digital stick. So there's no 16 directions or analog input for half prices
@@Danielsworlds Thank you for the reply!
Iâm gonna get this just to sit on the couch and select moves in PokĂ©mon. Holding the controller always is tiring. It looks like a great alternative controller to use and take around. May be very comfortable.
I use a Mayflash F101, which I think was around $40 and also supports PC input protocol, really good buy (and it's upgradable to the "higher end" sticks and buttons.) I do love 8bitdo though, I have their SN30, great controller
My favorite Wulff Den video!!
Love your vids guys, Hopy you all have a happy thanksgiving!
I was going to wait but just ordered this. Now I got the 8biddo Pro 2 and this coming. Also already got the hori split pad pro. So I am going to have various ways to play the switch (I am excited). This thing is going to make my arcade classics almost like playing on a real arcade machine.
I love this fightstick so much. You get a lot for the price!
I bought an RG35XX a few days ago and found that I was really enjoying the old arcade games that came with it. I think part of the reason I enjoy the arcade games is because I just don't have the time to invest in lengthy video games anymore. Anyway, I decided to get an emulator box to hook up to my TV and the 8bitdo arcade stick to play arcade games. I'm looking forward to the arcade nostalgia this weekend! It's really a shame that arcades are so rare to find anymore. I remember when every mall had an arcade.
This seriously sounds exactly like my story the past few months. Really got into arcade due to the same reasons recently!
It's crazy that the dock adds a frame of lag to wired controllers and Bluetooth is actually better.
I had to buy this to replace the wired Ryu Hori stick I bought last year.
Love your tech videos
This looks like a good joystick for me. I'm an old school Street Fighter player that stop playing fighting games for the last 10 years or so. Thinking about getting back into it. This might be a good starting stick for me.
Did you do it? am considering it for games like Street Fighter 3 Third Strike on the Switch, at home
4:40 I love your pikachu wolf 10/10
This makes me want to get it. I already like the 8bit controllers so this is cool.
Great video! If it's something you'd enjoy doing, I'd love to see a Twitch stream demonstrating the stick
got one of these recently, im enjoying my time using it
Awesome video bro, I'm subscribing for sure now
Probably not gonna buy this since I'm not into fighting games, but man, oh man, is this a beautiful arcade stick.
I dig the butterfly knives bob! 10:31
Thank you Bob. I need this stock on my life. đ
Wired > 2.4 GHz > Bluetooth
for latency and stability. Also, for anyone that likes Sanwa but feels the JLF stick is too loose, give the JLW paired with an octagonal gate a try.
I keep wanting to get this stick for the NES Advantage vibes even though if I already have several fine x360 sticks I can run through brook adapters which I would also need for this thing looks like.
It looks really nice, honestly. Obviously it's not made with fighting games/FGC in mind (I really wish it was, though), but damn is it cool.
Not many changes would be required to make it FGC-ready, though. And I'm sure someone's gonna take it and convert it into a "proper" stick.
i was on a friend's stream LASTNIGHT and we talked about her wanting to do something about leanring how to mix stuff like you did and here we is with the skill share i told her about hahaha what are the chances......that game stick do be a bit sizable.....now theres something too big for your large ass hands right?? lol keep up the nice vids bob :) and happy thanksgiving :)
Gotta love the Gran Turismo song for the intro
Thanks for the info
I saved up for the NES advantaged and played most of my games on it. Something like this would probably be an awesome nostalgia trip.
I can't wait to try this with the TMNT Arcade re-releases coming out soon!
I'd get it just for my PC, honestly. That's where the majority of my time in fighting and arcade games is spent, plus I think it'd be a nice companion piece for the Dragonslay stick I picked up a year or so ago(right around the time Strive was new, after Jack-O but before Chaos.)
You should say affordable rather than cheap. Keeps the product quality itself out of the equation... Just a though Mr. Wulff! Love your shiz!đ
thinking about getting this, love collection arcade stick for my systems
I got one. It's awesome. I also have the Atari 2 player Arcade Stick without the track ball. Should haven't gotten the trackball. Would be more space between the two people playing
Got mine last week and I love it so much fun to play Hades with
Happy Thanksgiving, Wulff Den!

You aren't lying 8bitdo does indeed make the best controllers ever. I recently got the 30pn pro or whatever the hell but the snes controller with thighs. So good. Feels so. So good. My fav controller ever.
Also I had the big ass red hori arcade stick, u had in another video. And I saw 8bit do has one via this video and sold my hori red giant so now I'm ordering this one. Cuz I'll always always go 8bitdo. Sold pro controller and retro snes controller for switch to get 2nd pro 8bitdo
Shoutout to the pocket operator!! Love those things
8bitdo are so damn good. Such a great company.
As a Terry main, you still need a right stick for tilts if you want to your down charge to up-B consistently.
i have one of these... it feels like the arcade and makes everything old new again...
Loved that max shoutout
I got a stick from 8bitdo a couple years ago, and it was great but it didnât come with the dongle, have the macro buttons, and some of the buttons and switches were clearly redisigned to make things easier
Your late Bob for the 8BitDo Arcade Stick party dude lol! Great vid tho!
Oh! I like it! And you hadn't even started the video good and I wanted it! LOL Perfect for my arthritic fingers I'd think.
Was waiting for you review ok this controller
When I play arcade-style fighting games, I use an arcade stick. And when I play Super Smash Bros., I use a regular controller.
If you want an arcade stick for the switch I recommend the hori Hayabusa. I got that one two years ago for a Christmas present for myself and never looked back it's so amazing for arcade games and Fighters also 2D Platformers
Seconding this, much better quality hardware, better casing, sturdier build quality overall, and doesn't slip at all whether you re playing on your lap or on a table.
I have say bob thanks for everything Iâve been watching since the two Anniversary of the switch an Iâve laughed an learned a lot đđ
The 2.4ghz is super helpful for setting it up on a retropie build
2.4ghz has less input lag than bluethoot, definitely a must have in a fight stick and not overkill at all.
đ Very important to point out. Also, for some reason the box states android and raspberry pi support.. But this was not shown as a feature on the store page nor do I find this info on the 8bitdo page.. đ€
This actually made it obvious he doesn't game with sticks at all. :)
it looks like a modern NES Advantage and i love that
Well, if I was my younger self that played tons of SF2 on the SNES, I'd think this thing was the bee knees. I won't be getting it, but I can see how people who want a more authentic arcade experience would absolutely love it.
Yeah, Iâm probably going to end up playing Starlink with this, also Iâm going to be using this for smash with other people, so I might end up removing turbo and the macro buttons.
these need to be available in the UK! need one sooo bad
Great Stuff!
That Max reference though đ„đ„đ„
After watching this review it made me want to get this. I saw this stick for the first time a week ago and just based on looks alone I was interested. One big thing about this stick though, and I don't blame you for not knowing because you said you weren't really into modding, is that the case is too shallow to hold a seimitsu ls-32, ls-38, or ls-40. Those joysticks are too deep and will not fit. The webpage for the company lists the models it will accommodate though, but saying it is ultra moddable, as the website does, is a bit misleading. Still I would say if you wanted to mod it you do have a few decent choices, but the case won't offer the room for modding people might expect or be used to. I still think it's a beauty with some cool features though and am very appreciative of you sharing your opinions. I'll probably be picking one up soon.
Damn, I really want this. It would be really good for a lot of Indies as well!
8bitdo always exceeds my expectations
Cool review for a product I didn't know existed. Pretty exciting product for Fighting Game nerds.
That is a great remix !
