  • Sorry for the long video, but when starting your own cargo van business, the vehicle is the most important piece of equipment you need to be successful. Getting started is the hardest challenge and finding the right vehicle for you is just as challenging. Everyone's budget is different, goals are different, and vehicle preferences are different. I'm answering some of the most common questions I receive and hopefully give everyone looking to purchase a cargo van a clear understanding of why I chose the van I did. An investment like this can be life changing, make sure you take your time and get what makes you feel most comfortable. Know your budget and understand your financial situation. Best wishes to you all, watch at your own pace.
Thank you lil CJ for that amazing intro you created for your dad, I'm so proud of you son ❤️

Gap insurance is to cover the difference in what you owe on your loan compared to what your insurance company actually values the vehicle at. If you were to total out the vehicle in a wreck, but owe more than what it's worth, then the gap insurance covers the difference. Gap insurance is only valuable in the early part of the loan. Once you start owing less than the value of the vehicle, then the gap insurance is a waste of money. You can also get gap insurance cheaper from your provider versus the rate that the dealership gives you. Even after you sign up with gap insurance through the dealer, you can get it from your provider and cancel what you got through the dealership.

The last part was a real gold nugget of info. His authority is building up over time, and whenever he feels like switching/doing otr, itll look better in their eyes since hes had it active for a good while. So he only has minimum commercial insurance to keep authority active, smart.

Gap insurance covers the cost of the depreciated value of your van vs. your loan amount. So, if you get hit by a car and it totals your van, you might only get 30k from your insurance to replace/reimburse you. Even though your loan is higher. Gap insurance literally fills the gap. IMHO, I'd add it back because $6-7 extra a month is worth it. Especially in SA. where there are a lot of uninsured peeps driving around. With all that being said, glad everything is going well.😎

I've been researching the 3 big vans and ford definitely seems like the most reliable. Ram the worst. I did see a video where the dude points out a few major transit problems. Biggest was a drain tube from the wiper area under the windshield into the engine compartment. Drips water right on the PCM electronics under the hood. Major design flaw I guess Comments suggest running a tube to re route the drain, prevent damage. Maybe look into it, save repair cost. Great channel & intro.

The wall panels are there to provide a more finished look as opposed to a bare metal interior that burns you in the summer and freezes you in the winter. And like you said it helps prevent damage to cargo too.
Also keeps dust and dirt out of the millions of crevices.
I bought my van without the interior panels but regret it. The paint gets scratched and dinged pretty easy.

Honestly, bigger is always better because the connects are cheaper, but they can't handle as much weight. I probably would have still purchased a med roof ford transit 250, but a used one around 15 to 20k. I had 20k to start so I would have paid cash for it. If I was going to do gig apps only with no goals of doing my own thing, ford transit 150 with low roof works fine for gig apps only. I don't like the Promaster and can't afford sprinter van. Ford Transit all day. You can definitely get away with a connect, but just know you would be limiting yourself on the type of loads you can get because of the weight.
