  • My John Deere 1025R "Rocks" - Literally.... I have had to dig up some pretty big rocks while creating trails in our woods. My "Little John Deere" has been up to task every time so far. So come along and watch the fun in this "Rocking Video". I know a lot of folks think the 1025r is nothing but a big toy. But maybe they will change their mind when seeing the large rocks I have been able to dig out with my backhoe and then move with the front loader on his little green machine. I will be clearing trails in the woods to clean out the underbrush and remove old dead logs for many years to come. In doing so I will be using a Stihl chainsaw, a DR Wood Chipper and my Category 1 John Deere 1025R. I plan to periodically upload videos of my progress to my "Trails in the Woods Playlist". So please be sure to subscribe and hit the bell in order to get notified when a new video gets uploaded. Y'all come back and see us again and be sure to "Take care" until then... And thanks again for stopping in to see us...

      I'm currently doing the same sort of stuff. I dont cut anything under 3" though, I just hook the root wad with the bucket and pop it out. The tough species, I push over first to break the roots loose. No stobs to worry about afterwards. My backhoe sits in the shop atm, I'm doing all this with a landscaping rake on the back. After skidding logs I rake the path on my back in. It is working amazing! I'm not knocking your method, I love playing with the hoe too!

    Get this. I have a larger Tractor the 5045e, 4wd, 7' boxblade and loader. The loader has a lift capacity of 3600 #'s. It is a beast. I do clearing and grading but most of all to me it's like a drug. I love it! I just finished digging out a spot on the side of a large hill in the Country for a buddy to build his new house. I was on my Tractor while my buddy was on a Track loader. We had a blast and it turned out very nice. We made 3 roads as well. The biggest thing to learn from this video is this Gentleman is working on his property making trails and enjoying life. I am interested in this little Tractor to dig ditches for drain lines and catch basins. I wanted to know if it would do the job. Good video. Thanks for sharing. Mark.

      Mark - Thanks for tuning in to our channel - For a little tractor this 1025r TLB is a "Beast" - It just takes a little longer to get the job done because of the limitations of the front loader lift capacity and the breakout capacity of the backhoe. But in exchange it is compact and can get into those tight places a larger tractor can't. I have had larger John Deere tractors but for the price point of this unit new for $20k with a backhoe - it serves my purposes. I certainly enjoy playing with it - It has been a real Back-Saver for us. If you watch my other videos we moved close to 40 tons of stone dust with this little monster and dug out a lot of tree stumps while building our Donkey Paddocks this past summer.
      So to answer your question about drain lines and catch basins - I guess it depends on the size of what you are doing. It has a digging depth of 6 foot and a reach of 8 foot - So you could easily dig an 8 ft. x 8 ft. square catch basin hole close to 6 ft. deep but it would never lift a concrete basin anywhere near that size into the hole. It could certainly dig the drain lines especially if you need to work in a tight (narrow) pathway. A lot of guys use this little tractor commercially but primarily for lighter landscaping jobs That being said this unit could easily do smaller polyethylene drainage pipe and catch basins systems all day long. Hopefully I understood and answered your question correctly. Thanks again for tuning in...

      @@ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm The catch basins we install are small enough to pick up and put in your Truck. We run the 6" green pipe. We also dig pads and footers for buildings. The Tractor I have now is really big, heavy and can be cumbersome. I'm looking for a smaller Tractor. Thanks for the information.

      @@markmccoy1304 Thanks - I came out of the commercial construction world before I retired so I immediately focused on large catch basins. From what you describe I would definitely recommend a smaller frame tractor. Check out Good Works Tractors video on selecting the right one: czcams.com/video/ZoIP-qJGbYg/video.html

      @@ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm Thanks. So I do grading, clearing brush, driveways etc. We did a huge job in Atlanta across from Mercedes Benz Stadium where the Falcons play. I had a city block I did. Sidewalks were all stamped. We did retention ponds with various soil mixes and yes concrete culverts and catch basins but we had a big commercial excavator we rented and track loader. Now I do more residential work. Retaining walls, drainage work...I was trying to spread 45 yards of dirt in a yard today with my 5045 and I sunk down almost 2 feet. Sometimes on level ground when picking up a load of dirt or gravel going in reverse the Tractor will turn over on you unless you drop the loader quickly. It lifts 3600 lbs and with water and antifreeze in the back tires along with a 7 ft boxblade it will wobble on you and want to turn over. Scary. Dud I buy the wrong Tractor for what I'm doing? Thanks. BTW I'm considering the 2038 with Backhoe.

    Looks like you are doing a great job. I might make a suggestion of getting a tooth bar for your front bucket and a thumb for the backhoe as they sure do make jobs like you are doing a lot easier that's for sure . A thumb on that backhoe would make handling those rocks a breeze.

    • @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm
      @ClearCreekCabinMiniFarm  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks for tuning in - Tooth bar is on the wish list - BH Thumb quite a bit further down on the list (it’s easy to go tractor implement broke) 😀

    Free landscape rocks! Use in a garden, or at the end of a driveway. ...Those big flat ones could be used as stairs to a porch.

      Thanks for tuning in - Congratulations on getting a 1025r TLB too - For a small tractor this little guy is a "Beast" - I have yet to give it a challenge that it has not been able to do. (knowing it's limitations, of course) You will really enjoy operating yours - Best of luck with it - Reach out any time if I can ever help...

      Hi Tim - Thanks for tuning in - The year of the tractor will be a determining factor along with the implements that come with it - I bought mine new in 2019 from the JD Dealer with just the front loader and backhoe and paid $20,000 (+ tax)

    Just curious--I have been trying to download vids and a 14 min video took me 10 hrs to upload. How long did it take you to upload this vid??? Any tips on speeding up the process?? I also own a 1025R and want to put some vids up for the grandkids.. Thanks

      Hey Pops - Thanks for watching my videos - I am no pro that’s for sure - I would guess it has to do with your computer’s speed & your internet connection speed - I upload everything as a .mpg4 file - I create my vids using SHOTCUT a free downloadable program - Easy to use to cut & paste the pieces together - It takes me as much a 1 to 2 hours to upload a 12 minute video to CZcams - It takes many hours to cut & paste the storyline together - Hope this helps...

      Almost certainly you have asymmetric internet. It just means your upload speeds are only a fraction of your download. It is pretty common.
