    When you were talking about *"asset flips"* it sounded like you don't understand the term, that originated from no effort "games" from random people who bought an asset pack and just sold it's example scene as is with some random title and maybe a bunch of other assets attached. It's not about using bought assets in general, rather making no effort to make a game in a first place. Yet I fully understand your defensive position on using bought assets, because people are quick to judge a book by it's cover.
    Good luck with the game 👍

      Good point!

    • @sapientunderground
      @sapientunderground Před rokem +3

      I would suggest that was the origin of the term, but these days it has diluted to mean "I recognize that you used a store asset", and has therefore become meaningless, although those using it get to feel like they've got a 'gotcha' on the devs.

    • @CRUMVIII
      @CRUMVIII Před rokem +4

      @@sapientunderground Sadly this the case for sure these days. Best thing to do if presented with this situation is to just ignore such people since they're either ignorant about the actual term or they know but they just want those clicks.

    • @sapientunderground
      @sapientunderground Před rokem +5

      @@CRUMVIII At the end of the day a product will make money or not from the dev perspective. I see audiences getting burnt out on certain assets, but I expect that's a minority. Ultimately I'd hope the gameplay is what matters.

    I appreciate you making everything from scratch, it gives the game more character and makes it more unique in my opinion. Cant wait to play it!

    I loved seeing you 3D model the environment & how you said it took days! I gotta set realistic expectations for myself on how long it'll take to get something done.
    I love the way it turned out! I agree with what you said about reusing assets - it saves time and it was made to be used more than once! Great video, can't wait to see the next devlog 😎

    3:40 so true, because by that logic ANY game made with Unity or Unreal should be considered as asset flip, because the engine is asset as well. Like in 80's and 90's game devs had to make completely new engine just to make a new game...

    • @StarkCraftsYT
      @StarkCraftsYT  Před rokem +1

      Exactly! And I think developers from the 80s and 90s would appreciate our situation and give a thumbs up

      @@StarkCraftsYT no prob. By the way, for your avatar do you use a motion capture software to get the natural movements? When your avatar moves as you talk the movements are really naturalistic. Also cool design for the avatar too. That's like the main thing i noticed at first in your videos.

      Yes it’s called VseeFace and u need to make a specific character for it in blender.
      But there are many more options out there and I will make this year a new setup completely from scratch. :D

    ty for the detailed explanation!
    could you provide some more insight in your workflow from blockout in engine -> final assets in blender -> replace blockout in engine? i'd like to understand that process better, like how to keep assets scaled correctly, exporting blockout assets to blender and detailing them, etc.

  • @stellarr1
    @stellarr1 Před rokem +1

    The game looks like it kicks ass dude, what is your process for writing a story when you're not modelling?

    • @StarkCraftsYT
      @StarkCraftsYT  Před rokem +1

      It’s very funny!
      I have a kinda story frame, like a sketch with must-have-elements, beings and events.
      I end up with informations just for me.
      (Like a History book version of my story)
      In the second part I’m putting the character and his perspective into it and i experience every through the character.
      I create questions for the character and I’m revealing more answer and question to drive the story to it’s climax.
      I’m not sure if this makes sense 😅
