THANK YOU so much for this-- I LOVE your style-- so simple- straightforward- NO fluff- no chatter- just GREAT info. I needed this-- wish you'd do more ' step by step' vids on some other things..

Thanks, since I have lots of users with different levels of Linux Knowledge, it can be a balance of content vs time. Best Regards, t

also, I'd be very interested seeing a video of your personal opinon on why ext4 is better than BTRFS. Is it just that ext4 is more established/stable?

Ext4 vs btrfs , yes ext has been around for quite a few years, LMDE 6 has the default as ext vs btrfs, not too convinced cow system or btrfs is best solution, on spin drives vs ssd, my preferred on home systems is ext4 , which as you pointed out is more established. Regards, t

Thanks a lot for your response and that too in quick time.
Got the install and even timeshift working in btrfs mode.
I tried editing the fstab to change the mount options of the subvolumes. On reboot the system ends up in tty. Then in tty does does not allow to edit the fstab.
I was trying to Mount the subvols in compress=zstd and other options.
Any idea what are the defaults in the fstab partition mounting options?
    Thanks in advance once again.

Compression and btrfs , I would suggest further WEB research on ZSTD, if your going to use , as I pointed out on the Video the Linux Mint team recommends ext4, there could be many reasons, why btrs is not offered on the LM installer. Sorry Best of Luck, t

If you have time to explain on different video about Persistent system on the usb Stick. I was thinking like to move my installed system to usb stick like copy, that I can run from this usb and if there will be any other changes on that system on the stick I can move again to even previous PC system or any other hardware. .

If you want to install LMDE on a USB stick , you can do that directly , its a lot slower but you can save personal files. Get a USB drive of good size 64GB or better...Using the Live mode on LMDE find Gparted and select the large USB drive and create 3 things, one a fat32 boot partition with boot & esp flags on, next a Linux Swap maybe 4GB or up, then create a ext 4 partition with remain space . Open the Mint installer and start the install , when you get to the drives section select Manual Partitioning, the fat32 partition should already be done , select the ext4 partition and edit select "/" and select ext4 , then next and select boot loader GRUB as the name of USB drive like "sda" or similar, shutdown and test your install, mostly be slow since this is not a hard drive. Some suggestion would be maybe use USB 3 for your main stick, and maybe more than 64GB again something to think about , you should be able to save files on this installed version , again this is not fast at all, since the OS is running completely from USB, so best experience is always hard drives , hopefully this helps . If you are looking to just copy files you can also think out using regular TAR files Regards, t
