I just have to say, it is so nice that Leen is a part of this makeover since it’s her house. So many CZcams makeovers don’t include the people who are going to actually live there. So many CZcamsrs remake a another persons home in their own style without including that person in the decisions. It seems like often they will re-make a space in their own style and not necessarily in the style of the person who is going to live there.I really appreciate that when you have done makeovers you’ve included the people who are going to actually live there.
I don't appreciate those pushy pseudo decorators here on YT that always pressure people into decorating with what they personally like and not consider what their customer really wants and even low key mock the customer's preferences just because they don't personally care for their customer's style.
A respectable professional always needs to respect the customer's tastes and work to please them and guide them, even through their more dubious choices' process, even if it is not their personal style.
Yeah I liked that too. I think that Leen is a friend of Caroline and didn't mind being a part of this video. Perhaps a lot of youtube-creators/redecoraters aren't so lucky to find people who are willing to help and be part of it? But that's just me guessing.
The kerf tip is the type of detail I don’t see much of in other videos. And definitely something I would have messed up on!
Aw i love to hear that Camille. I love learning those little tidbits myself :)
Omg, you two cracked me up when you switched up the light 😂
Okay, I've gone down a DIY rabbit hole on CZcams but I have to say, your style and approach is what agrees with me the most. I love everything you do! Also, love that you do stuff that's not only budget friendly but suitable for rental spaces. TYSM! Keep the awesome content coming!
Me too to all of this
LOVED IT ! I honestly need more design like this, everyone else is doing the same thing over again! So refreshing !
ah i love that!
A few recommendations for another way to create a level line with peel and stick wallpaper:
- if the wallpaper pattern does not require a vertical/portrait orientation (as the leaves and lemons seemed to be in many angles, with no strict 'upright' direction, this one did not seem to matter if it were rotated), instead apply it horizontal/landscape so the manufacturer edge becomes the level. Using a tape edge guide or pencil marks to help apply the now top edge straight. Ultimately, you end up only cutting the wallpaper at baseboards and windows, where you'd trim anyway.
- measure the desired height and mark where to cut on the back of the wallpaper. Use a T-square to draw a straight cut line, then follow the line either with good scissors (that don't warp the cut edge like some dull or craft scissors do), or on a cutting mat with an x-acto knife and the T-square as a cut guide.
- hide a wonky cut with trim, which can be wood, a separate wallpaper border, or even a craft, fabric or upholstery notion, such as cord or tassel fringe.
Perhaps you'll see this (if you do) in time to save headaches for the next wallpaper project.
Good luck!
It’s called “railroading” when you hang wallpaper horizontally.
Oh Caroline! I'm an old grandma (66) and i have to say, you are the total package! I love your videos! Along with affordable (i hate the term budget friendly) decorating ideas, using what you already have, thrifting and doing dangerous electrical wiring, you ALWAYS make me laugh! This time it was when you said you were having some kind of stroke! I realize strokes are no laughing matter, but in your context it was hilarious! ❤ from Texas
“You shouldn’t do this, no one shouldn’t do this, certainly not me. Let’s just **** do it.” I vote you make a coffee table quote book.
I love your designs. They are exactly what appeals to me. And you are funny, bright, and genuine.
I know this is an older video but I’m essentially binging my way through a good amount of your vids. I just have to say… I love you. Fab personality to make something that could not be exciting, exciting;) thanks for sharing
Same!!! Got my wisdom teeth out and this is my binge. Obsessed
Same 😁
Me too!
The whole sconce/votive moment was absolute gold. You're SO FUN TO WATCH! Honestly, I feel like we're having a conversation, even though we are *clearly* not. Keep being awesome, Caroline. 🙃
"i make mistakes like it's my job" !!!!! YESSSSS. Tha'ts my life. That was so good. AND, this video is dope. Leen is the BESTESS. I want her to be my BFF.
My husband fitted a Cecil fan for my daughter. She said it didn’t work. He took it all to bits only to find she hadn’t put the switch on.
Nice job. X
The build up to the light turning on was epic 🤌
This is a great makeover and just adds so much to the ambience of the apartment. To get a straight line you could add a thin piece of molding that could either stay or go after cutting the paper.
When I did half the wall - paper, I used a trim around the end of the paper to cover any errors!!! WHAT A FABULOUS JOB on that light !!!! Well done!!! You can always put a new top on that table and cut a few inches off the legs to make the table long and lower, if she wanted that.
loved this video, especially the build up scene -waiting for the light to turn on. Caroline you've got some serious talent.
The light bulb situation made me laugh! Pure comedic gold! 😂
🤣🤣🤣 I can't explain how much I laughed when you showed your faces when the lamp worked.
Facebook marketplace is seriously so good for seating I love the bench and chairs 😍
I love almost all of your designs but honestly i couldnt live with that wallpaper !! So overpowering xxx
what a good friend you are
The climax with the light was incredible
Love the 2 antique chairs. I also think that it will be easier toslide into the bench because it is a bit longer than the table. It looks great!
the joy in tis video!!!!! OH MY
My love for your room makeovers is equally matched by my love of your personality and narration! 😄🖤
This was awesome and the coolest part was how there was no big theatrical BS over seeing Lena’s reaction to the makeover. Thank you!!!
Learning about Kerf and releasing why all my old woodworking projects at school were never the right size.
More room makeovers please!! More more!
The nook is too cute! Love the wallpaper. Everything looks so good together. Kinda funky......adorable.....and fresh. Caroline, your fun personality is what this world needs during these weird times! Glad we found your channel. We would love to see you do some antique shopping outings. We live in Orange County, Calif and have some great antique shops here. One of our favorite vlogs we love to do is shopping! And its fun to see other people shop too. 😉
You make me LAUGH OUT LOUD every couple minutes. Definitely needed in these times.
I am the Boho Queen and I love what you've done with the place.
This is so beautiful! Please do a video about dining nooks as a part of a living room. I saw a video of you recommending this idea to your friends and it seemed like the PERFECT solution for my long awkward living room, but I feel like I still need more details about how you would do it. Thank you!
Love it! So cute! Although i wish the candles on the wall were higher.
This is just adorable! I am renting in France and have been so stumped about how to make this space feel like home. I’m going to look for stick on wallpaper! It’s an 18th century beautiful apartment, but I am not a formal person. I want to honor the beauty of the rooms and at the same time not be their slave! Dunno. I hope I can have fun doing it instead of making myself miserable. Thank you for your you.❤
Caroline, thanks for being my new friend. I found you over Christmas break and now my friend and I are binging all your videos.
This is exactly the kind of content I’ve been looking for! 😍 A creative, beautiful space with character, created by a wonderful, funny & authentic person! 😄 So refreshing to have something other than so many neutral cookie-cutter makeovers on CZcams! Thank you so much for making your awesome videos, you seem lovely, can’t wait to watch all your videos! 💕
Ahh thank you Nicola !❤️
You can take the outlet covers off . Less stress for the painter.
Pro Tip when cutting wood and you don't want it to splinter or fray, put tape on the line where you want to cut! It will keep 'er nice and purty.
Personally i would have done the full height of the walls with the wallpaper. I love it so much.😍
Oh noooo...lmao!!! The replay in slow-mo...hilarious. So GOOD.
It's all gorgeous, but holy shit, that ceiling light! LOVE.
I love the eclectic style of decorating.
Like the wallpaper...but the whole wall would have looked great. Good job on the electrical work!!
Measure and cut the wallpaper before hanging. May or may not be trickier to manipulate but then you’re not cutting into the wall. Also then your scraps still have the peel paper and can be used somewhere else and avoid having the sticky side exposed and wasted.
You would measure the wallpaper and cut it. Then apply it from the bottom smoothing upward.
This was sooo damn entertaining! It really broke up the monotony of my boring AF job. I laughed my ass off when y’all successfully got the pink pendant to work. Good job! Thanks for your content!
"Who cares what I think?" I do~!!!! omg love your videos and I'm so glad I came across this one.
Simply amazing!!! I cannot get enough of your channel! I am soo glad I happened to stumble across it. I am sharing with everyone!
The lightbulb moment 🤣🙌🏾👌priceless
You made me laugh out loud several times. Thank you. I loved how it turned out. I wondered what the owner thought
The voice over about votives cracked me up. I love the space.
Loved this! Can you make a video about your interior project proposals/process with clients? I know you don’t typically talk about clients, but perhaps what you prep for the first meeting?
I've just come across your channel, Caroline, and I can't stop watching your vids, not only because of the content and your good taste, but also because your sence of humour is as awesome as your sence of beauty! 😁😁👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️ Sending so much love to you,
Your New Subscriber 🥰
I wish that I was Carolin'es friend. She does such amazing design.
The gold sconces on that wallpaper just popped! Loooooove this makeover and the lightbulb change for the newly hung lamp had humor, drama, tension, everything!! 🎊
Hen the background music kicks in I love it because it reminds me of the home tour videos I watch on CZcams!
just please continue doing whatever you do that's good enough for me don't matter what it is 🤗
I found that same pendant light in a cream on Facebook Marketplace. I had to rewire the whole think because it was hard wired and I needed it to be plug in. I included an in line switch so I could turn it on easily. It was my first time wiring anything and of course it took for ever. Then, finally, the moment of truth. I plugged it in, turned it on… and it immediately blew a fuse. Lol. I had to do it all over again! Smh. BUT I learned a lot, realized my mistakes, and had the confidence of knowing I did it right the second time. It’s still up and I’m still loving it today!
Carolin the renovation work looks amazing☺️ I would love to see mixing organic, biophillic and vintage!
Nothing replaces the ambience that a great vintage lamp gives to a space. I love vintage lamps and that is all I have in my home. But yes, I am terrified of getting electrocuted so I always hire an electrician for that.
Those slag glass tulip lamps are some of my very favorite. I've seen them in several different colors.
Can you give some examples of indoor trees/green plants that survive inside through the winter? Thanks !! Loved this Reno! ❤
this is the best action movie ive ever seen. thank you
It's beautiful. I love the wallpaper. Great job fixing the lamp
The wooden beads are traditional in Greece, grandfathers carry them in their pockets, they are used for stress relief
aaaaaaand she's done it again! 👏
i love it so much!!!
I've used peel and stick before and it's WAY easier to cut and make sure things fit before you peel off the backing! You can make sure the pattern lines up and everything's the same size. It turned out amazing though!
Love it!!!
Love that you picked an Audrey Ficus.. I worked for an Interior Horticulture(had to look that up when i go the job,, basically i took care of houseplants before we put them in hotels and offices in Nyc) and so I am beyond over the Fiddle Leaf Fig (i get the reaction you get to wooden beads when someone wants one) and encourage anyone considering a tree for the space to get the Audrey instead.. You have great taste and love the channel.
I love it! 💗
Absolutely love! 🤯👏🏽✨
Absolutely adore this!
So cute!!!
I’m always impressed by your designs; they turn out so good! And wow that bench is gorgeous! 😍
Thanks so much Emilie! 😊 Always love seeing you on here! I love the bench TOO! Idk if you can tell in the video but its enormousssss
I loved that bench too!
Soooo cute!
Could add a trim above the wallpaper to make it look finished. And finish wallpaper in kitchen. Cute room 😊
So cute!
Just gorgeous !!
BEAUTIFUL!!
I love it! I love what you do.
Love how this turned out!!
Beautiful! Love it! 🥰
Wow that pink flower lamp🥰
I just found you from your DC apartment shopping video & now I'm hooked. Love your honesty, your story telling and entertaining vibe. So much fun and free laughs. Thanks so much! Much love from accross the Potomac!
For straight cut wallpaper.... Chuck strink if paper is already located on wall or measuring tape/pattern placement pre cutting before putting it on the wall
I love how you comment on what you said in the video, very entertaining
Wow looks amazing
