I'm sure the pitch is different since conduit does not need to hold pressure like fitting made for water pressure . Never overthink drilling that hole !
For the extra 4 bucks I will just buy the co-op bulkhead. Especially for my 10 gallon tanks, I can't drill a hole without a small chip out in the glass and that O ring ain't going to seal over a chip. Maybe with silicone it would seal but I also like that the wider flanges on a real bulkhead provide more strength and glass is less likely to crack if I bump the pipe
No dog in this fight, but I expected epoxy or silicone sealant. I’ve had plastic parts loosen on filter canisters in/out tubes so I don’t trust plastic threads to stay tight. Greg Sage did a setup using external elbows but it was funky looking for those who don’t want to drill.
