Unfortunately the police do sweet F all. We had about 5k of tools stolen when our van was stolen. The van was found parked up and emptied. When we rang the police they wouldn’t even send out scenes of crime to finger print the van as in their words “they did that good of a job breaking in that we PROBABLY won’t find any fingerprints”. Stealing a tradesman’s tools is the lowest of the low, feel for you mate. Most of my cordless/power tools are Festool and there’s no way I’d leave them on my van overnight. Keep an eye on local selling pages, facebook marketplace etc, you never know you might spot some of your tools. Best of luck
Really sorry it had to happen to you mate! Be patient in these hard times. It's so common now adays, because the punishment they receive its not severe enough. We need to go back to the golden days where they'd think twice about stealing anything. Look at the countries in the Middle East , not such a high crime rate. Best advice I can give you is get as many locks fitted as you can. My next door builder I think has 3 on his van.
@@sahaahmed8064 issue with deadlocks is they will still get inside. So you’d then have to buy all new tools and then doors, or get the doors done on insurance and hike your prices up next year. You seem a decent hardworking guy who will bounce back. I keep my main tools in bags that i take in each night as yes i have had my van broken into before. All the best
Hi Pal, Carpenter of 40yrs, this has happened to me twice and I know that gut wrenching feeling, hope your Insurance company play ball and sort you out, next year can only get better.
I just started my electrical contracting biz, I really appreciate your explaining why you're not in a rage lmao I was screaming at myself in the car for misplacing my impact drill last week, it turned up in a technicians bag that I was working with, I've stuck an airtag to the back now. After watching you literally just go on to your job and work with what you had, my blood pressure dropped. All the best to you this coming year brother.
Been there bro, feel for you. Get yourself some decent tradesman insurance for next time (I’m sorry to say it but in my experience there will be a next time). When you buyback your tools get them all marked up with smart water - most tools police recover are returned to the thieves as there is no way of them tracking down the owner. Chin up mate 👍
😢 I am sorry to hear that you're going through this difficult situation. It's truly disheartening to see someone work so hard only to have someone else take advantage of them. I empathize with you and I want you to know that you're not alone.
Gutted, something I too dread having had vandalism and cars stolen. What a terrible time for it to happen too - but your stance on the matter is spot on. It has happened and you can't do much about it now, so getting annoyed etc won't solve any issues. Just a total PITA!! Even with deadlocks and plates fitted, if they want to get in then they will. So aside of insurance (new for old, rather than depreciating value), I've opted for ARMD alarm/tracker. At least with this I can be notified very quickly and start recording the criminals at work. Depending on how you're feeling you can of course choose to confront them, but these days that can go wrong and also end up making things worse. Get the footage and get the insurance claim in.
Gutted for you mate, I have been watching your videos and subscribed as a fellow tradesman myself.. a few years back I had my van and tools taken and I was gutted and could not even go to my job for a few days until I sorted insurance but my head was wrecked. anyway long story short I had taken a policy out with Rhino trade insurance and that insured my tools for £5k, they were excellent in paying but I did have to show receipts. Hope this helps you out, you should have some sort of policy on your van insurance I think to £1k so go through your paperwork van insurance and public liability. hope you get it sorted, well done for keeping your chin up and getting straight back into it..
As a joiner myself, I've had my van broken into twice, and luckily enough, I've been insured to replace them. Stealing a tradesmen kit isn't great, but I hope you manage to get by and build up your tools again.
You’ve got the right mindset. Happens to frequently. Pure tramps but your positivity in such a terrible time is so refreshing. Keep your head up bud, minor set backs for major comes backs as you say!! Love your videos, proper genuine bloke.
Absolutely devastated for you buddy, you are grafting hard and some pair of low life’s rob you! The big motor companies should have to answer some questions, you see online how easy it is to gain entry into side or back doors of vans seconds! Even on new vehicles they still have the same locking systems (weakness). You are an inspiration when even faced with loosing most of your tools (something that could bankrupt some people) you keep going
Great mentality! Keep grinding man Get an an alarm hooked up to your central locking, ive had mine go off twice, cost me 1k saved me thousands in those 2 break ins.
Hey mate, same happened to me last year. Police or insurance done nothing or was gonna cost me in the long run. I like you have a following. Do a crowdfunder mate. People love what we do and we’re so generous. I was blown away. This is getting more common. I can’t leave my tools in the van anymore
Sucks man it’s happend to me. You need some extra locks/deadlocks on the van along with the stainless plates in correct places. The racking you have is great to look at and work out of but you really could do with tool vaults in the van as another form of security. Get some of the sliders and re-do the racking to suit. Hope you had a good Xmas and things are better in the new year bro
Gutted for ya mate. I don't know whether you have them already but if not get the aftermarket locks and plates fitted to your rear van doors. Mine cost a grand to get fitted but it's an awesome deterrent. I also racked my swb van using friction fitted sliding drawers, one big one from the side and two from the rear. I made mine with ply, no drawer mechanisms. My side one is full of my hand power tools and routers. Quite a bit fits in there. The rear ones take most of the other regularly used bits. Obviously, over the drawers you put a sheet of ply to make a usable floor. Plenty of space. My theory for this being better is that with the locks and plates, my van is really only vulnerable to someone peeling the door down, if this was done they still wouldn't be able to get into the drawers to get to the valuable stuff. Other than that, get an alarm, it's all about minimising the time they get to do their thing and making your van a less desirable target than others around you. I've had it happen to me three times over the years, all three times while I was at work during the day, not at night parked up. Parking streets away from the job due to restrictions still gives me anxiety today, sometimes I prefer to take the ticket depending on the area.
Been there myself! It’s soul crushing and emotionally both saddening and maddening. After the fact I actually built and welded in locked cages. It actually cost me the tools plus about 600 for the new custom cages. Hang in there brother. Security bolts and rivet nuts seem to slow down thieves more than a padlock.
I’ve been in this situation. Honestly it’s gut wrenching when you find it in the morning. I was an apprentice at the time and just got a 4 piece power tool pack. Was devastated
I feel your pain mate. I no longer leave anything in my van over night. In every night and back out in the morning, pain in the arse but at least I can load up in the morning with what is needed for the day,
Sorry to see your tools being stolen you have a good attitude to it don't let it get you down crack on with your work keep it rolling. I've had my tools stolen twice out of my vans and out of my workshop as well. get yourself some insurance it isn't much and they do pay out fairly quickly i must say. the only thing is they don't payout for is the VAT on the tools also for "tool depreciation" of 10-20% so max payout would be 60-70% of the actual worth of the tools
Had my van done and they cleaned me out also in 12 mins when I was in B&Q they are the lowest of the low to steal a man’s livelihood and how he earns a living to provide for his family should happen to anyone I’m glad you look on the bigger picture because you can’t change what’s done fair play pal wish you all the best 👍👏👏
Losing ur tools mate I feel for u and thru the adversity u made it work as a mobile mechanic I've been lucky up to now but at times the slightest noise at night wakes me up n I jump to the window n look at my van even tho it has motion sensor cameras aimed at it, ur video proves wot a great carpenter u are u came thru it son to do the jobs in hand for that day with limited tools, true professional, hope ur insurance pays out 😊
This is just the worst of the worst this time of year and taking a man’s livelyhood… keeping positive and getting straight back to work shows a lot about who you are 👍🏻
Get a wet grinder for the chisels rkid…one of my best purchase’s especially when you hit a nail in an old door casing and the chisel looks like a chippy fork 😂😂
Mate absolutely gutted for you mate! I’m a shop fitter and it’s one thing that scares me leaving kit in the van! But sometimes there’s nothing stopping people from robbing kit 😩 bro can’t you set up a fund me page and everyone can chip in to get your kit back? 👊🏾
What a low life stealing your tools! Everybody's worst nightmare. Your attitude towards it is spot on! Learn and move on! Hopefully you get sorted out soon 🙌
oh man, as a fella chippy my heart goes out to you mate, that totally sucks! its happens to the best of us, you will bounce back my friend, and the bounce i assure you will be big
Punishment in this country needs to be made a lot heavier for this sort of crime, ridiculous how this can happen. Hang in there mate and big respect to you for being so stoic about it 👍
I remember also the confusion in the morning, I was trying to put my son in his baby seat and noticed everything was pulled out in the van, then I looked in the back…. Empty It was a real hard lesson to learn. My opinion is stay away from transits, they appear to be an easy target and AirTag everything, I’ve one hot glued to the bottom of my miter saw and table saw, in all my boxes and bags . Good luck
This happened to me 2 years ago mate they took my whole van radar box through front door cloned the key and stole the whole van 20k worth of tools inside. was totally devastated for months afterwards made me really depressed for a very long time only just about got my whole kit back now. Chin up you got this bro best wishes keep grinding.
Bad news....I've been a joiner 37 years...love the videos...invest in the deadlocks on the van plus a good alarm.....and van vaults inside for your tools...unfortunately it's what you have to do ....😔
I feel your pain, as a carpenter and joiner I've been done on 5 separate occasions and lost it all, learnt after 2nd time to have a tools insurance, worth every penny as that helped ease the pain. Hope you had an insurance as these people who have done this are scum, hope your up and running In no time 😢
Sorry to hear of your theft. Many year ago I too lost tools to a thief from my van parked outside my house at night. I decided then to never leave tools overnight in my van. I just kept low cost materials that I could afford to loose. For me this was things like plastic pipe fittings, nails, screws, etc. This did not keep my wife happy and in the end I rented a shipping container in a guarded yard, about 10 minutes drive from my house. Each morning meant driving there, loading up and each evening unloading, before driving home. The same for my employee. BUT - and this is the point of the story - neither I or employee ever had another tool stolen from our vans.
I’ve had that done mate it’s horrible u will go to get something months later and realise it’s something else they took feel for u guy have to keep going is what it is mate 👊🏻
Handled it like a boss, respect bro, I had my entire van get nicked full of all my tools recently that was a shocker. Thank god I had insurance on both otherwise I would have been absolutely fucked. Anyone debating tool insurance don’t mess around just get it.
Absolutely gutted for you mate, extra painful that you didn’t have insurance either…. Scumbags and the tools will be sold for next to nothing to feed a habit, at least you have the best mindset to put it behind you and look to the future. Keep doing what you do best 👍
Sorry to hear about this mate, one of the dangers of everything being on CZcams! It happens far too often tool theft they need to firm up with the punishment for it. Hope your back on your feet bro
This is my worst nightmare! Couldnt think of anything worse mate, hope you get it all sorted! Invest in the van vaults! I can hook you up with a guy who can get them to you for a little cheaper, iv got a slider one and just leave my expensive stuff in the vault! And nice too see you working my neck off the woods in sutton coldfield ;)
These are the guys who deserve to be in the uk. They have respect and are wanting to work for what they have it is such a shame. Im sorry you guys have to deal with this. Dont give up.
Man that sucks. I brand all my tools with a blow torch and letter punch set. I know it doesn’t help now but people viewing your channel just to rob will see they aren’t any good for sale. Keep pushing on. All the best for the new year

I’ve been in this situation. Honestly it’s gut wrenching when you find it in the morning. I was an apprentice at the time and just got a 4 piece power tool pack. Was devastated
Not much to give, but I feel for you bud. Really hope you can get on top before long.
I appreciate this so much thankyou mate
Losing ur tools mate I feel for u and thru the adversity u made it work as a mobile mechanic I've been lucky up to now but at times the slightest noise at night wakes me up n I jump to the window n look at my van even tho it has motion sensor cameras aimed at it, ur video proves wot a great carpenter u are u came thru it son to do the jobs in hand for that day with limited tools, true professional, hope ur insurance pays out 😊
This is just the worst of the worst this time of year and taking a man’s livelyhood… keeping positive and getting straight back to work shows a lot about who you are 👍🏻
Sorry you had to experience that. Onwards and upwards!
Yeah it’s a crappy feeling Thanks for the donation I really appreciate you
mate im so sorry to hear.... it has happend to me before.. hope you recover... much love from AUS!
Get a wet grinder for the chisels rkid…one of my best purchase’s especially when you hit a nail in an old door casing and the chisel looks like a chippy fork 😂😂
All the best in the new year 🙏👍🙌
Mate absolutely gutted for you mate! I’m a shop fitter and it’s one thing that scares me leaving kit in the van! But sometimes there’s nothing stopping people from robbing kit 😩 bro can’t you set up a fund me page and everyone can chip in to get your kit back? 👊🏾
Great idea
Sorry to hear. Great attitude
Thankyou mate I appreciate this a lot
What a low life stealing your tools! Everybody's worst nightmare. Your attitude towards it is spot on! Learn and move on! Hopefully you get sorted out soon 🙌
oh man, as a fella chippy my heart goes out to you mate, that totally sucks! its happens to the best of us, you will bounce back my friend, and the bounce i assure you will be big
Sickening ! So sorry you've had this happen to you.
Empty
It was a real hard lesson to learn.
My opinion is stay away from transits, they appear to be an easy target and AirTag everything, I’ve one hot glued to the bottom of my miter saw and table saw, in all my boxes and bags .
Good luck
Man, I know the feeling. It's heart breaking. Had it happen to me a few times. You'll recover.
Sorry to hear this! Not nice I’ve had my van done twice horrible feeling. Chin up though
Sorry to hear about this. I lost my van aswell, I feel your pain. Might have a few jobs coming up in a few months will reach out to you.
Worst feeling , and thanks mate
Absolutely gutted for you mate, extra painful that you didn’t have insurance either….
Scumbags and the tools will be sold for next to nothing to feed a habit, at least you have the best mindset to put it behind you and look to the future.
Keep doing what you do best 👍
Sorry to hear about this mate, one of the dangers of everything being on CZcams! It happens far too often tool theft they need to firm up with the punishment for it. Hope your back on your feet bro
Gutted for you brother. Its a horrible feeling. Never leave your tools in the van.
Sorry about that bro. Thats reallh disgusting. Thank God your alive and you have an opportunity to get better tools.
