Hello, I would like to mention, that one helmet can be quiet for someone but loud for someone else, it depends on the helmet fit to one's the head shape. In one study they found out that the important part of noise comes from inside of the helmet caused by turbulence of air comming from the space around neck. The noise comming from outside of the helmet is less important.
Might have been a worthwhile exercise if you tested helmets on a naked bike!
no kidding lol
Whatever helmet you use, you need ear plugs if you are riding at 80k or above deal with wind noise.
@@Underwearscares Really depends on ear shapes. I tried Alpine and they would not stay in my ears.
@@Underwearscares I've tried a bunch of different earplugs as well going to an ENT audiologist for custom molded earplugs which could not be made because of my collapsing ear canals. Their crazy shape means I cannot get custom molded and that all others like Alpine etc... will not even go in much less stay in. I'm left with having to use soft mold-able silicone putty.
I have found Alpine ear plugs to fit poorly and are very poor quality.
Radian plugs. 2 part putty molds to ur ears n dries
May be the case but how do you deal with a comm system?
Thanks to you guys I've got the HJC RPHA 91 in May 2023, and really happy to see, that I don't have to spend money on helmet again!;))
Keep up the good work, guys!
As a kind suggestion, would it be possible to use a Sportbike for some of these tests? A Sportbike has a very distinct characteristic which blasts a directed stream of air right at the top of the face shield. Sportbikes have the most wind noise of any motorcycle, because the air is actually channeled directly into your face. It appears that nobody has done any helmet tests on Sportbikes.
Love the review! Thank you for the wonderful information

Great review, your guys are the best
really good review !!! thanks
❤Love these videos. Best helmet review channel
Thanks for watching 💪
Super interesting test! As always! Have you the possibility to test x-lite x-552 ?
Good review, but in my point of view is really important wich kind of motorbike you are riding to perform this noise test, one helmet that can be acceptable with a BMW R1200GS can be completely unacceptable with a naked.
I have a X lite x 702GT carbon and with my BMW R1200GS is perfect, lightweight and enough quite, with my latest Ducati Streetfighter V4S I can't ride without earplugs.
This point is so important !
I wonder where the new sport touring Schubert S3 would be in this test?
Great review 😍
Is the Scorpion EVO you reviewed the same as the SCORPION EXO-1400 EVO CARBON AIR?
When are you going to test the HJC i91?
I would really like yo buy an Arai.... Too bad they suck big time on noise isolation.
Interesting data ✅
Very interesting! I love your fact based reviews ❤
Appreciate it! We've got many more on the way 💪
EXCEPTIONAL!! Please test the new SCORPION EXO-1400 EVO 2 CARBON ... It has a place in that category (quiet...) ...among others categories too...
I have R1 and its not that quite, it have some wind noise true visor :(
Why do HJC Rpha 91 Carbon and HJC Rpha 91 have different stars on the visor and the same number of stars on the weight?
Different shell.. weight moved elsewhere
What about the Shoei X-SPR Pro & Shoei NXR2? What would be the rank for those?
The NXR-2 ties for fourth place with an average measurement of 98 Db. The X-SPR Pro had an average reading of 99 decibels, and would end up in fifth.
I've read from Schuberth that their C3 Pro rates at 82db. I'm not sure how to compare that to this group of results. Have you ever tested that helmet using the same parameters you've used here? How does it stack up?
I have 2 C3pro helmets. It's definitely very silent. I can hear music at 100km/h from the headset on a naked bike. If you use a full faired touring bike, you can go up to 130km/h.
Thanks mate!@@DerpEye
I have a C3 pro as well. Compared to other helmets, it's the noisiest of 'em all. I don't know how they can claim the 82 db, but for sure, it's a loud helmet.
@@InsaneLegenD756 That's disappointing to read.
The best helmet is 95 db!? Wow, that’s guaranteed hearing loss. Better have great earplugs too.
Rpha 91 is the one to go. The only downside is the loose clear visor, above 90kmh the visor goes down even though I ride Harley Davidson ultra limited. Other than that its great helmet all around.
U hav a fairing....what wind is hitting you?? ....
Weird because everyone else says scorpions are super loud
Mine is the 1st gen and yes it's loud. I've even used Alpine ear plugs and they are terrible in quality and comfort.
@@juice3381 I have a exo R320 someone gave me which is very loud and a carbon exo R1 air which is okay with the vents closed. A lil louder than my agv k6s and no where near as quiet as my shoei rs1400, but not much is. Then again I ride a literbike with a full exhaust that's loud af
I have exo 520 air. Loud as fk
Have a Exo Tech Evo and it's noisy
I am really surprised that Scorpion EXO-R1 is scoring better than EXO-1400. I imagined a racing helmet would be noisier than a touring.
I am getting the EXO-1400 though, for its sun visor.
Thanks for the video
🔥🔥
Why the Shoei RF-1400 is not on the list? Is famus for being quiet
Probably because NXR-2 (European version of RF-1400) was released not in 2024/2023. But according to Champion Helmets review it has 98 db in their test, which makes it ties with helmets on the bottom of the list from the video.
@@Mr.DavidBrady thanks for sharing the db level, I tried to find it as RF-1400 but didn't find anything, which makes a lot of sense
@@VS-yv8yk
On some Asian markets it is called Z-8. As each market has own certification requirements, Shoei and Arai have slightly different naming on the different markets and slightly different helmets as well (in order to comply with local safety requirements).
They test them on a GS with huge ass windshield.... What is with us who ride nakeds@@Mr.DavidBrady
❤
Hello, I would like you to review the "Scorpion ADF-9000 AIR TRAIL" helmet. I purchased it a few months ago and I must say that I am very happy with it, plus in the package I found: an extra visor, a helmet rest, a pinlock. Then it also has the internal button to inflate or deflate the cushions, very good ventilation and turbulence. I would like to know your impressions. Thank you
The usual suspects. There are no quiet helmets, just Less Noisy Helmets. It's the territory. But. What about Alvin Halfaker's Quiet Ride Helmets? He went at this in a new way. They make quite a difference. I think the purpose involved and it's success in reducing decibels and windnoicse etc, is more important than the regular brands alignment.
MAN I WOULD love a semi budget one of these where every one is under like 450 pounds... like safety wise in american dollars 400 and under you can get safety but not neccasarily quietness.. IDK i think it would be a good video that would great for me.. but provide you a lot of views.. as your obviously not some AI generate best helmets of 2024 thjat juust pop up wiht 1k vioews all over the place

Hjceej 😂
Ls-2 it is not quiet 😏
I agree. I have the explorer carbon and it is deafening without earplugs!
it couldn't be any different. LS2 are not premium helmets
Christ! Every 4 rated helmet is around 800 bucks..
Fu ck that
you don't even mention a Bell helmet so how can you be taken seriously!
We don't mention a Bell helmet in this video, because none of them made it to the top 10.
@@Championhelmets a Bell helmet is not in the top 10. Are you just crazy or what. I guess they won't pay you any money!
@@stevebrooks8625do you have share in Bell? They’re rubbish.
@@donr62 nope. they Great. Best helmet on the market by far. I have a Qualifier DMX MIps and love it. And I paid less than $300 for it.
@@stevebrooks8625have you even tried anything else? Ive had plenty of helmets, some bell and theyre far from the best
Modern helmets SUCK! Back in the 70’s every helmet was made of fiberglass and they were reasonably QUIET! Nobody used to ride with earplugs. Modern Polymer and carbon fiber simply are not as quiet and Bell did a safety study showing how fiberglass delaminated on impact lessening impact to the rider. Modern polymer helmets transfer all the impact forces into the liner.. so modern helmets are louder, less safe and many times more expensive! MODERN HELMETS SUCK!
You cannot be serious.
back in the day they were doing 120 mph in 4 seconds
I’ve been riding since 1973. Riders didn’t wear earplugs back in the 70’s because people were not informed about hearing loss from prolonged exposure to loud sound, such as helmet wind roar at high speed.
I wore helmets in the 70’s and I can’t hear a word you are saying …. What?
