I know someone that went to a Physics interview at Oxbridge and in his personal statement he quoted a book that he didn't read, in the interview the interviewer asked about the book he mentioned in his personal statement... He was being interviewed by the author of the book and I can tell you that it only went downhill from there

Ahhhh I think the more you come to accept it, the less it ends up mattering! We're both very happy with what ended up happening, so we have to embrace that!
That's because friendship is based on Equality. You cannot be friends with someone who you perceive is above or below you.

I’ve been working on my personal statement the past few weeks and I’ve got to have it finished and handed in to my teachers by October half term. This video is so helpful and I’ll definitely take these points on board (I’m applying for primary education at several uni’s)
This was surprisingly fun yet throughly helpful. Other Youtbers should follow your style. Adding friends really enhanced the energy of it.

I literally just wrote about epq and critical thinking the timing aha! My personal statement has to be in soon as an early applicant and I feel so much better now because I actually feel like I’ve written about the right things! Also this collab is incredible, it’s made my day :))

Whoa I'm from the Netherlands and I'm really glad we don't have personal statements here :p It looks so hard! Here you just need to pass your final exams (VWO level, which I thing is comparable to A-level) and if you have the right profile (subjects) you can start at any uni. Only a few studies (like medicine) have a selection!

I just remembered that video of yours 'If Personal Statements were honest' and I mean after watching this one now it really is so similar to the personal statements I had to write this summer. You might remember me being from Germany, I applied to big companies like Adidas, BMW or Audi for a dual study program (going to uni while getting paid to be an intern there every 3 months). I really wouldn't have thought that it is that similar!

Seen a few of your videos, having graduated from Durham back in ’94, this is a powerful video, (and one of your best,) wish I had access to this when I was applying esp. from people going to Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol and Durham.
I would say that when the video first started, I thought you were doing a VLOG with other Durham Uni CZcamsrs, so you get a flavour across the board of courses and halls of residence. As if you are St Hild and St Bede (as in my case), hard to tell someone what the other colleges are like.
You really come across well, and all the best in the future (and you application to Oxford for the Masters, or Cambridge). My sentence structure is crap, I know, but discipline was Maths and Computing.

Perfect timing as I have been trying to finish up my personal statement for the past month. I was wondering how I should approach the word limit. I am about a hundred words away from the limit but not sure I have that much left to say, but I don't want to turn in a personal statement that is too short and looks like I am not that motivated or something.

This is the most useful personal statement video I've ever watched, thank you!!! I'm applying to Oxford for Philosophy and German and am on draft five approximately (If you count my first 8000 character stream of consciousness as a draft). As I'm applying from Germany, I have absolutely no teachers who have any idea what a personal statement (let alone an Oxbridge one) should look like as that sort of thing isn't part of our application process here, so I haven't had any second opinions on it yet. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I could find students or qualified people to give me some feedback?

I'm literally working on my second personal statement draft, so this couldn't have come at a better time. I'm going for English at Oxford, and the main thread in my PS is my connection to the Irish oral storytelling tradition as a diplomat's daughter.

This couldn't come at a better time for me as I am currently applying for English at Oxford! Attempting to have the running theme of feminism, linking it to the 'times up' and 'me too' movement through all my noveks!! x
My face when Eve said she had 13 drafts of her personal statement :/ I'm on my second draft and my uni counselor says I only have a few improvements to make... I suppose I should ask a few more opinions... (At least I'm not applying for Oxbridge, although Durham, St. Andrews, Warwick, Exeter and Newcastle aren't exactly easy to get into.)
Definitely get as many opinions as you can and keep redrafting! I had a lot of drafts too, but you might've just had a better technique / structure first time!

I made about 8, about 5 members of staff checked it and none of them changed much. My siblings and geography teacher were so helpful (thats the degree im doing) x

Would you recommend linking history a level to English degree through the use of censorship in regimes, eg dr zhivago in ussr and all quiet in nazi Germany (to show that English is one of the most developmental tools available to us), also linking that to my politics as by evidencing that then English can be a political tool (I’m applying to oxford next month and I’m terrified!)
